you can also go to good deal games and purchase the donkey kong cart for around $30.00
Nope. I tried that route before the AA store. Good Deal Games is sold out of 5200 DK.

Can you buy replacement optical sensors for them?

Fairly strange that Atari released light gun games for a system that did not have a light gun. Go figure...
-
^
Are these in combinations, or individually while you power the system on?

Is there a light gun that came packed in with 7800 systems? I ask because ebay turns up nothing under a search for 7800 light guns. Does the XE light gun work fine with the 7800 system? Is there some way to make the Sega Master System gun work with a 7800 console?
Thanks.

I would say $100 for this package is respectable, if the console proves to work fine once you get a power adapter.
7800 power adapter is available here.

The stock 5200 controller takes a little getting used to with DK, but thankfully I have Bohoki's PC adapter cable and some nice PC arcade sticks. The game plays great with those.
-
Either way, I signed up for the release of INTV DK Arcade as soon as it is available. Can't wait to play it.
-
I picked one CIB up from Goodwill with four games in their boxes, about a year ago. Unfortunately, it has screen rot and I cannot play it. Does anyone know how to repair these systems? Is screen rot fixable, or should this go in the trash?
-
I recently paid the AA store to make mine, for only $25 plus shipping. I supplied the ROM file and .jpg of the label for Albert. The game plays great.
Do a Google search for "5200 Donkey Kong label image" and some nice artwork comes up. Just make sure the one you send to Al is fine resolution or it will come out blurry on the final product.
400/800/5200 DK is the only home version that has all 4 arcade levels (intro, intermissions, and the pie factory are missing from all the others), but that is about to change on the Colecovision and Intellivision platforms. Many thanks to the home brewers making this all possible.
Now, if someone would only rework the VCS version...

Donkey Kong Arcade does a pretty good job of reproducing the sound. I'm wondering how long it took them to get it right.
That was supposed to say Donkey Kong Arcade Intellivision. Oops.
Nonetheless... I'd like to see improved versions of these other Donkey Kong ports:
*Atari 2600
*Commodore 64
*Texas Instruments TI-99/4A
Having no programming experience, I thought before of redoing 2600 DK. I don't know if it could be done with Batari Basic tools, but it would be an ambitious project for sure. I don't know about all 4 arcade levels, but even adding the elevator stage to the 2600 game would be quite an accomplishment (probably tons of flicker though).

I keep thinking about what it would take to bring 2600 Chopper Command to INTV. Having no programming experience, but an eagerness to try, is this an advisable project?
-
I'm a late adopter to the Intellivision. Got my first one about two years ago. I have the system manual. Is this information listed in there?
-
But if you bypass it, will it not make controller port 2 unusable?

I saw a bunch of CD-i programs (encyclopaedias, educational, and games) at a Goodwill store about 6 months back. I thought about buying them, but GW was charging $5 a piece, and I have read some horrible things about CD-i overall. I decided to skip and they sat in that store for months.

Sweet!
I signed up for the newsletter. Now, how long until DK Arcade arrives in my mailbox?
-
Wow. Nice on the information, especially the pause feature, I never knew that I could pause an INTV game until now. Many thanks.

Can someone shed light on exactly which games have custom button combos for different gameplay options? It seems like I read somewhere that certain INTV games had easy-medium-difficult play selections by holding different number pad keys down at startup. Thanks.

I saw another auction of his on ebay for Truckin' with his custom overlays included with the game cart. Some cool stuff he is doing.
As for cutting straight edges on custom-printed overlays: A metal straight edge and exacto knife work quite well.

Would the 7800 two-button controller work for both the fire and thrust functions? Maybe I would not need the booster grip to play Omega Race.
