CLOSED Atari 2600 Mystery Cart Giveaway Contest
tz101 replied to toiletunes's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
No one ever asked if it was an M-Network cart. I thought for sure that it was M-Network right up until the end. -
No crime, as I get older, I tend to get more forgetful. Sorry to all who may have taken offense at my perceived slight. Thanks to all for the helpful responses.

Man, I went and listened to two different time share sales pitches, and all I got was a free vacation to Branson, MO. Where can I go to time share sales pitches in your neck of the woods? Back to OP: Never had an INTV until about two years ago, and obviously Craigslist purchases don't come with warranty.

Can someone provide the complete list of CV games that came with controller overlays? Thanks.
-
By "mylar" you are referring to the flex circuit. Best is the best place to buy them separate (no repair kit purchase required), and I paid about $5 a piece for them about a month ago, so not badly priced either. FYI.

No need to purchase a new 72-pin connector. With it out of the unit, simply run extra fine grit sandpaper back and forth between the top and bottom rows of "pins" a few times. Follow this with a toothbrush soaked in 91% isopropyl alcohol. Again, back and forth with the toothbrush bristles deeply inserted between the top and bottom rows of "pins" a few times. Presto, all should be solved. Reassemble the NES console and make certain to thoroughly clean the game cart pins with sandpaper and 91% isopropyl as well. Enjoy your refurbed NES!

SNES USB to PC controller OR USB Controller Adapter?
tz101 replied to SegaShooters's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think the subtle nuances and differences between the two are really splitting hairs. If you have four originals on hand and are in a low cash situation, then get the adapter by all means. -
So does Slither require the roller controller, or it is an option?
-
No reason to fear the sandpaper, when used in moderation. I would only use it once every few years to clean off oxidation. Isopropyl and pencil erasers only clean dirt residue, Once the film of oxidation gets too thick, the only way to break through is with sandpaper or steel wool. Stubborn carts that refuse to work can often be brought back to life with sandpaper, just a few light swipes on both sides of the contact pins though.

I have this spare Atari VCS 4-switcher case and a few spare NES front loaders, and have an inkling to put the innards of an NES into the VCS case. How difficult would this be? Obviously, the cartridge slot would have to be widened, and I am not certain what all four switched would be used for, but this would be really sweet looking when done.

That game is one of my most played VCS games ever. Better than Pac Man to me.
-
I would think Megamania would also be an excellent candidate for this controller.
-
..and which ones require expansion module #2? I have heard that these will not play with the standard CV controller, correct?
-
2 player cooperative games like Tetris or Pac Man would be cool. Both players on screen at the same time would be excellent.

Y, but I already have bohoki's PC to 5200 controller adapter cable. So I should be good to go, right?
-
I bought this today with the understanding that it will work great with Breakout, Kaboom, and Tempest. Is this true? I have bohoki's PC controller adapter, so are any other mods necessary?
-
Thank for the link.

I read today that Pac Man Collection is now out for CV. Is this true, and where can I get a copy?
-
Got my games today, and am highly unimpressed. Not with the game play, but with the condition of the games themselves. I could not get either Battlezone or Jr. Pac Man to go past their respective title screens until I scrubbed away copious amounts of blue-green oxidation residue from the Battlezone cartridge contacts. After much scrubbing, it now plays. Jr. Pac Man never did come to its senses, even after much scrubbing off of black residue with a cotton swab and alcohol. Its not my 5200 console, as my other games all play fine. I have contacted Good Deal Games and asked how to return Jr. Pac Man for an axchange. All this is frustrating and I wonder if they look at the condition or even test the games before shipping them out.

I have a chance to pick up an XEGS with controller, power adapter, gun, and 5 games for $65. Should I pull the trigger on this deal? I already have VCS, CV, 5200 and 7800, so is there much I already do not have, short of 4-level DK?
-
I tried Kat5200 and Virtual Super System emulators on my Win7 machine. Both start up fine, but give me errors when trying to load the ROM's downloaded from this thread. Is this just a case of those two emulators not being compatible with Win7 or something else at work? Basically, I want to order the blank 5200 cartridge from AA store and have them load it with Donkey Kong. The XL conversion with all 4 arcade levels. Which DK ROM from the three downloaded .zip archives off this thread is the one I need to send to AA with my order? Thanks.

What ColecoVision Homebrews Would You Like to See Next?
tz101 replied to ColecoFan1981's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Seconded. This never saw a home console port and deserves one. A CV port of Make Trax would be the cat's meow. -
SNES image is too small to make out the titles on most of the games.
