Happy_Dude replied to gamerz's topic in Contests
Are these two your submissions? Thanks Yes The Xenophobe is just the 7800 lable (which looks a lot better IMO) so if you don't want to accept it thats OK I'm still working on a few ideas too -

Happy_Dude replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion

NTSC Jaguar in PAL-country with no sound! HELP!!!
Happy_Dude replied to hagbard's topic in Atari Jaguar
I'm not a Jag person (yet) so I don't know if you're using RCA jacks or what but if your not it could be the differences between PAL and NTSC channel frequencies The sound for NTSC is transmited on a duifferent frequencie to PAL so you can pick up the Sound or the picture but not both. Of course if your using RCA then somthing is definitly wrong -

What games really pushed the NES ?
Happy_Dude replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Actualy vertical and horizontal scrolling are simple, it's when you do diagonal scrolling that it gets tricky Of course it is, but I wasn't referring to that. There were mappers that didn't allow vertical scrolling, while others did. I really hate to quote technical docs but vertical scroling is built into the console. ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³ $2005 ³ W2 ³ dddddddd ³ Background Scroll Register [BGSCROL] ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ Used to scroll the screen vertically and ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ horizontally. This is a double-write ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ register. ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ BYTE 1: Horizontal Scroll ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ BYTE 2: Vertical Scroll ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ The scrolled data will span across multip- ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ le Name Tables. The layout is as follows: ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÂÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ #2 ($2800) ³ #3 ($2C00) ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ #0 ($2000) ³ #1 ($2400) ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ ³ I am by no means an expert and I know MMC1 has a Scroll/Pan register But vertical scrolling has nothing to do with the type of mapper used. -

I'v been playing Captain Skyhawk today and the high score screen reminded me of a tech demo that used every availible sprite to make crazy patterns. I know everyone will say SMB3 so I'll say upfront that I already know that one What other NES games push the limits of what the nes can do ?

You have no ______ to _______ make your _______ What you ______?

If I croak it before 2023 it will probably end up back in the local thrift store. After that I'll write a will and instruct that all my many combat carts are smashed into 1 billion pices and their ashes scattered at sea Upon my demise I would like the games to be sold off so other people can get some enjoyment out of them (Unless my future wife or kids enjoy them too ) Atari forever (unless you've got an Eprom in there, then it should be "Atari for no less than 20 years" )

I'm looking into making NES mapper0 boards. And making your own PCB's is fairly easy (and cheap) I'm sure you could do a small run of 7800 boards to gauge interest. and get somone to make some nice profesional boards if theres enough interest. I know I'd be willing to pay more for a "real" 7800 game

When and where did this Sonic Label variation come out?
Happy_Dude replied to Jasoco's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I had no idea the US version had different label art. I followed chrisbid's link and boy is that US sonic lame. -
Sounds like every other VB game

It only took me a week to figure out I'm loading X and storing A And I want to code a game? Could take a few years at that rate

Your Top 10 favorite games of all time
Happy_Dude replied to Duke 4ever's topic in Modern Console Discussion
in no particular order: Kaboom! - 2600 SMB3 - NES Boulder Dash - C64 (original platform ????) Asteroids - Arcade REZ - Dreamcast DDR - Arcade Pikmin - Gamecube Doom - IBM P.C Perfect Dark - N64 Galaga - Arcade -
I am still working on the patches, so maybe that's some extra motivation too.

I'm still strugling with the reverse gravity. Controling the pods underground is damn hard when you pick them up and they have to swing all the way around. I end up losing control and getting flung into a wall. But I'm not going to give up until I see the "ShowMaster Subroutine" And it would be cool if there was another contest.

I love reading his diary in Paper Mario Very funny. They've known they've been neglecting him for a long time.

Of all the people who have asked for people here to program their ideas for them this one has to be the most ..... recent Actually I think the Jag is the only platform (covered here) where a team effort might be a good idea.

Ahh the call of the wild You got some great games there. I hate "going back" for games. There will always be somone who will beat you to it unless your the first person through the doors in the morning (and I'm not a morning person) Anyway good luck with your Atari hunting.

Celebrate the new NES Rarity Guide We Have Our Winners
Happy_Dude replied to gamerz's topic in Contests
For some reason SunSoft made some really shit lables. All the lables I'm looking at redesigning are SunSoft. gamerz, do you have any lable templates, fonts etc.... to help us out ? -
Last release here was Tony Hawk 3. Standout games : Goldeneye Perfect Dark Conker's BFD Lylat Wars Zelda: OoT Zelda: Majora's Mask Paper Mario Super Mario 64 Jet Force Gemini Donky Kong 64 Resident Evil 2 Kirby 64 And thats just from the 19 I own. I'm sure I'll find many more top notch games that get little to no respect. I'd rather pay $99 for a solid Cart than $99 for a flimsy sliver of plastic. Yeah the controller isn't very well made but the design is perfect. poor polygon performance? So you bought a SATURN? WTF?
-
Why are there different versions of ROMs ? You'd think that once all the EPROMS on the arcade board where dumped and named that you wouldn't need to do it again. I mean the data isn't going to change significantly, or AT ALL, in between mame releases. So WTF?????
