is that in a different VHF band or somthing ?

I think you are confusing games with consoles here. NTSC games will work on most PAL TVs, either with wrong colors or in B&W, sometimes rolling. But NTSC consoles are producing a completely incompatible color signal, so a normal PAL TV will always show B&W there. I think I am. My tv has never had any probs with a NTSC signal but I just forced it into PAL mode and, your right, it is B&W. But if spillmester's tv is a "newer" tv it should support NTSC anyway.
-
Yes. You will be able to play games with an even number of scanlines in colour, even though the colours are different than intended, and Odd scanline games will be Black&White. And because it's a New PAL T.V the chances are high that it has multi mode PAL/SECAM/NTSC and will automatically detect what type of signal it's receiving At the very least it should have PAL 60 so the screen won't roll like on older T.V's

Electric Zen Electric - Self-explanatory Zen - The Zone. That place you go when your totally absorbed in a game. Mu. I think I'm going with this for now Any advice on how to get some investment capital ? and What games should I go after first ? (After Galaga of course )
-
2600 Asteroids = Stay still. You don't have enough manouverability to dodge the asteroids Arcade = Zooooooom
-
Come to Cydonia for some Galaga Tharsis dome ? Sounds like an arcade, no?
-
I'm leaning away from a blatantly "Retro" name and more toward somthing that "feels" like an old arcade. A name that sounds like a fantasy location (like Space Port, lunar city, Fun terminal...) Nothing with "Zone" in the name though

Will today's systems become tomorrow's collectibles?

Cubivor on GCN is already pretty rare (I think) And what about that fighting game on Xbox that MS recalled because it had some religiouse references in it. -
For an older dedicated Mame P.C you should use FreeDos and a dos version of mame with a frontend (I think I used Arcade O.S frontend) I was playing Streetfighter with no problems on a AMDk6-2 350Mhz machine.

I'v been talking with a distributor and my local area is doing a LOT of business with them. People are setting up game rooms or just buying machines they remember. I'm going over for a talk and to check out the stock on saturday so I'll get some numbers from him Looks like I have a market Bonus - There is supposed to be a Cinema opening up a few blocks from my house. I haven't got any details yet but thats the perfect location, if true Keep throwing some names my way, I haven't decided yet and I'll need somthing to put on my Business plan

The Nintendo Diference - Reveiws
Happy_Dude replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Solar Wars by Chris Covell (You can get this rom from the Solar Wars homepage http://www.zyx.com/chrisc/solarwars.html) We've all played this type of game at one point or another. There are a million and 1 clones out there for every system imaginable. What makes this one special is that it's the first one on the NES. It's like Scorched Earth on the PC. A tank combat game where you and an opponent face off over 10 different worlds. Each world has a different gravity, windspeed, climate, etc ... You change the X and Y speed of your shots and try to kill your opponent first The first thing you will notice when you load this game up is the amazing soundtrack. Memblers and Bananmos did a fantastic job here. The title screen graphics are top quality and the in game graphics are great too. The only thing I could fault it on is the unusual firing mechanics. I'm used to playing these sorts of games with a Cannon angle vs Shot power method but this uses a X speed vs Y speed method. A very minor complaint about a top notch brew. Also there is apparently 4 different endings. ( I haven't played through yet. ) This can only be a good thing, right + The full source code has been released for those who are interested in NES brewing Sound: Blew me away. Really amazing for a homebrew. 7/10 Graphics: Nice. Some real work put in here. 7.5/10 Gameplay: Only as good as your player 2. Definitly a party game. 6/10 Overall I'd give it a 7.5/10 Solar Wars doner carts: CNROM (mapper 3) 32k PRG / 32k CHR Adventure Island Adventures of Dino-Riki Alpha Mission Armored Scrum Object Athletic World Banana Buggy Popper Bump N' Jump Cadillac Castle Excellent Championship Bowling (J) City Connection Cosmo Genesis Cybernoid Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum Deblock Donkey Kong Classics Dragon Quest Drop Zone Dynamite Bowl Egypt Family Trainer Running Stadium Fleet Commander Flipull Friday The 13th Gegege no Kitarou Ghostbusters Ghostbusters (J) Gorby no Pipeline Daisakusen Gotcha Gradius (J) Gyruss Hello Kitty no Ohana Batake Hokuto no Ken Hottaman no Titeitanken Hyauti Super Igo Jajamaru no Daibouken Jaws John Elway's Quarterback Karate Champ Karate Kid, The Keisan Game Sansuu 2 Keisan Game Sansuu 4 Keisan Game Sansuu 5/6 Nen Kero Kero Keroppi King's Knight King's Knight (J) Kings of the Beach Kung-Fu Heroes Last Starfighter, The Mag Max Major League Baseball Mario China Meikyu Kumikyoko Mickey Mouse Mickey Mousecapade Milon's Secret Castle Minnie no Talabou Nakayosi Daisakusen Moai Kun Musashi no Ken Mystery Quest Nagagutu wo Haita Neko Ninja Kid Oryu San Paperboy Pipe Dream Puznic Puzzle Q-Bert Quarth Sanrio Carnival Sanrio Cup Ponpon Bare Seikima 2 Sinjinrui Soap Panic Solomon no Kagi Solomon's Key Space Hunter Spy Hunter Star Force Star Voyager Super Monkey Daibouken Super Team Games T&C Surf Design Takahasi Meijin no Boukenjima Tetris (J) Tetudouou Tiger-Heli (J) Tokorosan no Mamoru Toukaidou 53 Tugi Transformers Combo Tsuppari Oozomou Urusei Yatsura How to make a solar wars cart - http://www.zyx.com/chrisc/solarwarscart.html Chris even has the rom pre-seperated into Prg & Chr ready to burn to Eprom just in case you don't know how to do it (what a nice guy ) and Thats the Nintendo Difference -
News about Nintendo's GameCube plans...

LOL - Nintendo has made enemies? Remember who they're competiting with: This is an industry where one monopolist with questionable business tactics is now fighting it out with two other renowned monopolists who've been investigated for questionable business tactics. LOL, and to put things into perspective even further, let's not forget that during the 1980's and early 1990's, NINTENDO was itself a renowned monopolist with questionable business tactics! How quickly we forget! Forget what? "1 monopolist now fighting it out with two other renowned monopolists" Sounds like all 3 console companies are acounted for -
I said I'd reveiw the NES homebrews and heres my first reveiw For those who don't know what the title of this thread means ep.1 @ http://www.playnintendo.com/boards/phpBB2/...opic.php?t=1473 (PN's down at the moment check back later) Broadcasting live from the cerebral cortex of Happy_Dude Galaxy Patrol Enhanced by Michael Martin (You can get this rom here - http://nesdev.parodius.com/gp_enh.zip ) This game is as simple as it is fun. Dodging through stars trying to keep your fule from running out. And thats it. As you progress in the game the nicely scrolling background stars start to increase in number as the fule dumps decrease. You find yourself cutting dangerously close to stars to get to one more fule dump before you run dry. It could use some added gameplay, like levels or moving debris but overall this is a step up from the 2003 Minigames entry. (Which was just too damn hard for me.) Sound: Theres a bleep when you pickup fule. Yep thats it.4/10 Graphics: Nice parallax-scrolling effect. George Lucus would be proud. 6.5/10 Gameplay: It's a bit slow and sparse at first but before you know it You'll be pushing it "Just a little bit further".... Damn stars!!!!! 8.5/10 Overall I'd give it a 8/10 Galaxy Patrol Enhanced, doner carts: (mapper 0) 16k PRG / 8k CHR(chr not used for GPE) 10 Yard Fight (J) 110 in 1 Menu 58 In 1 Menu Antarctic Adventure Balloon Fight Balloon Fight (PAL) Baseball Baseball (J) Battle City Binary Land Bomberman (J) Burgertime (J) Chack N' Pop Championship Lode Runner Defender 2 Devil World Dig Dug Donkey Kong Donkey Kong 3 Donkey Kong Jr. Donkey Kong Jr. Math Donkey Kong Jr. Sansuu Asobi Door Door Duck Hunt Excitebike Excitebike (PAL) Exerion F1 Race Field Combat Formation Z Front Line Galaga (J) Galaxian Golf Gomoku Narabe Hogan's Alley Hyper Olympic Hyper Sports Ice Climber Ikki Jewelry Joust Karateka Kinniku Man Lode Runner (J) Lunar Ball Macross Mappy Millipede Naitou 9 Dan Shogi Hiden Ninja Kun Nuts and Milk Pac-Man Pac-Man (Unlicensed Version) Pac-Man (J) Pinball Poo-Yan Popeye Popeye Eigo Asobi Raid on Bungling Bay Raid on Bungling Bay (J) Road Fighter Sky Destroyer Space Invaders Star Force (J) Star Gate Super Arabian Tennis Urban Champion Warpman Wild Gunman Yie-Ar Kung-Fu Yo Nin Uti Majyan Zippy Race I'd like to hear from anyone who makes a working cart from any of these. What happened to the playnintendo.com website?
Happy_Dude replied to donkeykong1's topic in Classic Console Discussion
MMF contemplated making his own Nintendo site the last time PN was down (the last time I noticed anyway) I think PN could be a great site, but Mark never seems to get anything done. @gamerz, Theres plenty of Nintendo sites. But the basis of PN was the rarity guide ..... which never seemed to materialize. -
I spent today in an Arcade called Intencity. I played my first game of DDR and loved it. Must have a few of those machines All but 1 of their pinball machines was busted The amount of people wandering aimlessly looking for somthing that was worth the cover charge was astonishing. I think I have a good idea here How about calling this place "The Arcade" ?
