One thing I've noticed is I almost never have the urge to play Atari when things have been super busy and overwhelming at work. It just doesn't seem seem as appealing to play the types of games that keep speeding up and throwing more enemies at you till you die.

First off, I love the new site, and having edit back. I did notice that on page 9 of the Let's see your gameroom thread a few images escaped the thumbnail treatment and are still stretching out the forums. It shows the same in IE and Safari.

A lot of Atari games are simple enough to pick up and figure out without the manual. This isn't one of them. This game uses both controllers and the right stick is used to move Indy around. Here is the manual.

People do get away with it all the time, but this type of fee avoidance is against ebay policies.

Yeah Bowling is a good one. I've had nieces and nephews play that one. I can't think of other specific titles off the top of my head, but a game that uses the joystick button to start a new game after all lives are used up could be a good one. As for non-Atari, maybe a NES + Game Genie loaded up with cheat codes. That should keep a youngin playing for awhile.

The JVC X'Eye is a pretty cool package and despite its rarity seems to sell for a price similar to the 1st model Sega CD. The 32X works with it too, but gets in the way of the CD door.

If she's still noticing the addition of a few piddly carts it just goes to show that you don't have enough stuff yet. Also, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

I think in my case it's grudgingly accepted. It doesn't hurt that she actually likes a few of the Atari and NES games. She had a Super Nintendo when she was younger so she likes some of those games too. She rarely plays though. She does think I'm silly, and I have heard "Don't you think you have enough now?" and "What, another system?" In spite of all that, it's generally tolerated. It doesn't hurt to remind her of how as far as hobbies go it's pretty cheap, and of how thrifty I am in other ways. I've also shown her some of the gameroom and collection pictures to show her that my obsession is mild in comparison. My apologies to those I've used to make myself appear sane. She bought me some 2600 games once for Christmas while my collection was still relatively small. Of course as soon as I heard that she got them at a local antique mall and there were more left, I dragged the poor woman back there at the first opportunity. When the rest of the house is finished, I have the green light to turn the basement into a gameroom -- which was actually her idea. So I can't really complain.

Sounds cool. I've been considering doing something similar. Make sure to post some pics when you get it all put together. I like almost all of the black Atari picture labels. To me, those say "Atari" like nothing else. Probably the best looking cartridge I have is Threshold. Great looking artwork set off by a uniquely colored cartridge. Sorceror has a nice looking label too. For more common games, I think Frogger is pretty striking.

You could add some extra coaxial cable between your switchbox and TV to bring the switch around front so that it's more accessible. You could also ditch the switchbox and get an adaptor like this. Depending on if you want to hook up anything else back there you can put in coax splitters and selector switches as needed.

He's probably still hunting Kepone for that crack about California in another thread anyway. heh I do agree that the colors and lines of the swirl handmade marbles, lend themselves to Zimags's box art better than other types. I'll send you a PM about the other marble stuff so I don't derail this too far. As I have a tendency to do.

Very nice and professional looking! I have some involvement in marble collecting so I do have one minor super-pedantic critique. Aggies are agate marbles and immies are glass immitations of agate. It appears you've featured swirl-type marbles most prominently. Well in case CPUWIZ nukes my account, it's been nice knowing all of you!

Another vote for teak. But if you got a good straight-grained cut of oak, filled the pores, and stained it just right, it could also look nearly identical to the 2600's finish. Sounds like a lot more work though.

Being colorblind might actually save you in this case. I started to get a headache just from looking at the screenshots on vgmuseum. I agree that they look kind of cool and it's an interesting concept, but it's easy to see why VB was a failure.

I quite like the Slik Stik. It seems very precise to me. My only complaint is that the small fire button starts to hurt your thumb on games where you have to shoot a lot. I noticed several of my scores improve when I started using it. Then when I got my Tac-2, I was able to increase some of them again. Unfortunately my Slik Stiks and Tac-2 are awaiting repair as I've managed to break all of them.

It looks like he's new to ebay and doesn't understand the basic concept of the feedback system. You sold it "as is" and he says himself that it arrived safely. You have completely fulfilled your part of the transaction. You might be able to get him to withdraw it if you can politely inform him of this. I'd be mad about this one too.

-Defender: Graphics aside, I find the gameplay more engaging than Chopper Command. -Encounter at L5: A little more Data Age love. I like overhead shooters and this one has an interesting control scheme. -Space Cavern: My support for this one is heavily influenced by nostalgia. I feel the need to post this one everytime the subject comes up.
