Aside from the Combat tanks, to me, nothing else says Atari like the aliens in the top row of Space Invaders.

If you can get Frogger and Donkey Kong to work I'm not sure why Asteroids wouldn't, unless it's dirty. As for Night Driver and Breakout, you didn't mention whether or not you have paddle controllers. Those games don't work with joysticks. Maybe you already knew about different controllers, if so just ignore me. I thought I'd mention it though, since a lot of folks new to Atari are often surprised at the variety of controllers.

That thread about the Jaguar molds being bought and used to make the cases for dental equipment was pretty interesting. -

Game and console sales for March
candiru replied to Major Havoc 2049's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Very true, right after I posted I had even thought about going back and editing in that I'd hate to see them go the same way as Sega, but I was too lazy. **throws towel at Adrian to mop up drool, etc.** -
Game and console sales for March
candiru replied to Major Havoc 2049's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Good Lord, if you take a way Pokemon and Mario, Nintendo barely ranks on those game sales. I'm not a fanboy of any of the companies but it kind of makes me sad for the big N. -
You're right. Now that I think about it, I got my N64 and DK64 (with expansion pak included) at the same time, so I forgot what it came with.
-
Probably a long shot, but if you've still got the packaging to your original N64 you might even have the special tool that Nintendo included for taking these out. It's light gray and shaped kind of like a really fat wishbone.

I can confirm that the 32X works on an X-eye. Looks weird and blocks the CD door, but I haven't had any real problems.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Combat is awesome 2 player goodness. Actually, I bet Stan was more into Fishing Derby for 2 player action. sorry about the cheap shot stan

Maybe my opinion doesn't count since I haven't joined the club, but I don't have any problem with the notables competing. Maybe if it were an amateur boxing club and you were being forced to go a few rounds with Mike Tyson.... but it's just video games. Even though I'm not a member I've been playing the selected games too. I think the best part of the highscore club is the tips from other players, and who better to get tips from than the experts? I've also been encouraged by everybody posting their scores. I enjoy classic games but have generally felt that I'm not necessarily that good at them. Seeing the scores at least lets me know that I'm actually right in there with everyone else or even ahead of the curve on certain titles. Thanks to the tips some of my scores have increased. It's a fun little competition and I hope no one lets it get them discouraged.

Some of the coolest looking characters in Atari games

A thread like this shouldn't be without a mention of the dragons in Dragonfire. -
What a weird post---and yet you've actually got me thinking about it. Strangely enough, one of the first things that came to mind would be how much it would suck to be one of those poor bastards at a drive-in restaurant that wear coin belts for making change. That, and going to a casino and playing the Combat Slots.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
candiru replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've been having quite a few dry runs lately so I was excited to finally find some NES stuff. Yesterday I stopped off at a thrift store where I haven't seen anything for months, not even Mario/Duckhunts or Genesis sports games. I got a Game Genie, Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Junior, Batman Returns, and Final Fantasy. All were CIB except for the D.K. game which was missing the box. Got it all for $10. -
I halfway expected to see the item location as Kansas City. I've seen one like that around here a few times. I've never been close enough to it to see if he's got a flux capacitor though.
-
maybe it has something to do with... Well, I didn't see any sleepingbags in the background so I suppose that somewhat reduces the risk of fluid stains. And on topic, if it were me, I'd go the scanning route as well. Your collection does look nice though.

Interesting. I always wondered what that dongle was myself. I got my 32x boxed but missing the shielding plates and dongle. Whoever originally bought it must have got the dongle and installed it though since I found the expansion port cover to a Genesis in my 32x box. Mine also came with the Star Wars pack-in game--in accordance with BerzerkZombieBentley's theory.

Have you ever considered taking a little time out for some self reflection?
-
I think so many sports titles get cranked out just because they're almost like a disposable game. I've never enjoyed them that much, but there actually are quite a few people that, buy the new version just because it has a different year added to the title.
-
Well LAAA DEEEE DAAA.... Maybe I'll have to try a different joystick and give this game another try.
-
No you're not alone. I find the control in this game frustrating too. There are people that like it, so I'm sure it has it's merits, but I don't play it very often.

Thanks for the link Big Player. It's amazing how many of those protos came to light. It got me thinking, since Atari and Parker Bros. used to swap so much code back in the day, I should go and look at some of my extra carts to see if I could uncover any hidden gems. Well lady luck sure was smiling on me. My brother got this from an ex-Parker Bros. employee years ago, 1977 to be exact. Behold the glory of Sword*bert: Qubeworld. I'd take a picture of it running on my television but I don't have a digital camera. Does anyone have any leads as to where I can get one?
-
Well, perhaps being a little biased I'd recommend getting another Atari system. The Dreamcast is nice though. That will probably be my next purchase. It might be a little awhile though since my number of consoles and games has outstripped my free time lately. Also I like to space out the intervals of the "Another one??!!" reaction I get when I bring home a new system.

Yeah, Kinkos does that and they'll have coated stock to print on. I think the prices run somewhere around $1 for 8.5x11 and $3 for 11x17. Whenever I have something printed there, just to be safe I try to leave at least 3/8 inch clearance between the artwork and the edge of the page. In my experiences, their printers often can't print as close to the paper's edge as I'm used to with my inkjet at home.

Like others have said, I think Air Raid by Menavision is generally considered the rarest. Hardest to get hold of might be any cart owned by ATARIPITBULL Best case scenario you end up with a bite taken out of your ass *checks belty's location* ..er arse. Worst case, you're a splotch on the floor.
