Hey I'm not all that familiar with arcade games (nor do I really have room for any, or wish for my wife to murder me) but I met a really nice old former arcade owner at a garage sale over the weekend who was selling some stuff. He had 2 Ms Pac-mans $400 and $300. Super Mario Bros. $400, and a Time Pilot cocktail table that is brand new for $500. I was thinking of my fellow AtariAgers when I saw this stuff so I took down his phone number. I know it's a slim chance, but if anyone was interested I can PM you the info.

Hi birdie, Don't know if I'll be of any help but I've been able to run Stella on a G4 400 Mhz running OS 9.2. Of course I haven't played around with emulators a great deal but it seemed to work ok. The link to the Stella homepage from AtariAge's 2600 emulation page is http://stella.sourceforge.net/. maybe you looked at this already. Even if you end up having to upgrade to CarbonLib 1.2, when I look at the downloads page on the Apple website it was just under 2 Megs so it shouldn't take too terrible long even at 56k.

I don't think anyone mentioned Ms Pac-Man for the Genesis yet.

I've got a love hate relationship with Gamestop too. I know that Gamestop, Funcoland, Babbage, Software Etc, maybe more, are all the same ownership, but when when the local Funcoland and Babbages turned into Gamestops, their prices went up.

I had noticed that little button when I took it apart and I actually did put it back together wrong the first time. Unfortunately it even tells me the door is open if I have the console top off and hold down the switch with my finger. I guess I'll have to take it apart a little further and check the switch itself. Hopefully I'll just need to clean it or repair a connection. Thanks for the tip.

I went ahead and hooked it up with a 9v power supply and that seems to work fine. The cartridge part works at least. I don't have any CD games for it but shouldn't it also play audio CDs? I put one in and it says "checking disc" or something like that. When I hit start on the controller it takes me to what looks like a control screen for a CD player put I can only move the pointer to the options button (which goes to the memory copy and format menus) and the stop button. There is also a blinking message in the upper right that says the lid is open, even though it's not. I opened the console up and confirmed that both of the electric motors on the CD drive work, so at least there's that. Anybody here, especially the other X'eye owners, know what might be going on, or am I just way off base in thinking it should play audio CDs? Thanks

You are right. It's just the EA games I'm thinking of, like the 3 billion copies of John Madden Football that seem to be wedged into every crevice of every pawn shop, thrift store, and game resale shop in the U.S.

Well, you guys convinced the cheap bastard in me to go ahead and spring for the X'Eye. How do you pronounce that anyway? Like a Z and say "Zie" or do you say "Ecks-Eye"? Witchfynde was right about the power supply though. It seems to be a weird one. It needs one that's 9.5 volts. The regular Sega ones I found are all 10v and all the adjustable ones I've found skip from 9 to 12 with nothing in between. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning and there are no batteries in the house. I'll have to scour the internet and see what I can find. About the only thing I know about Sega is that I played Sonic once at a friend's house. I've seen a few of those 32x add-on things around for dirt cheap and now I'm kicking myself for not getting one. Is that the difference between the tall skinny carts and the short wide ones? Or is that just an external redesign?

How rare is this thing? From what I've been able to find on the internet it's a licensed clone of a Sega Genesis/Sega CD unit. I saw one at a thrift shop yesterday for $15, but it's just the console and 2 controllers --- no power supply or hook-ups, sold as is. It looks pretty cool even though it appears to be kind of cheaply made. I don't have any Sega systems so I was kind of interested in it. Anybody here know if they were crappy or had a high failure rate? Maybe I should just offer them $8 for it and see what they say.

Hope you get some good stuff Kyle. Let us know how it goes. I've thought of putting up some posters like this too. Anyone else on AA had any real luck doing this? Any horror stories from doing this? Like buying Quadrun for $2 bucks and then having the guy figure out later what he had and then come back and knee-cap you?

And then there are those who would say it's not even classic. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...?t=9939&start=0

The Gamestops and Funcolands around Kansas City don't usually sell any N64 games for less than $15. Oddly, enough though the Babbages at the mall usually has some OK prices. I also frequent the pawn shops. Usually all I can ever find are the wrestling and football games, but sometimes there's something good, and they price all of them at $10 no matter what they are. Of course they never have the boxes or instructions, but that doesn't bother me too much.

So that's what it meant when it said it saw a bright light and Basketball was there.

My old friend, Space Cavern, one of my carts I've had since I was a wee lad, has not been doing so well lately. I know there are those among you who would advise me to go ahead and put it out of its misery *cough-stan-cough* , but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to get it working right again? It starts up fine and plays normally in all respects except that the space man will no longer shoot sideways to fend off those fuzzy C-shaped things. I've tried cleaning the contacts, and made sure it's not just a faulty joystick. Any ideas?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd call it Steve.

Is such a thing possible?! The one I'm thinking of isn't exactly a rap but I think it went something like. Nin-ten-do, it's for breakfast now! Nin-ten-do, it's a cereal, Wow! I'm so proud of myself for remembering that.
-
I've wondered about the special controller that came with the game too. What is it that makes it useless?
-
My best find for awhile has been Pete Rose Baseball for $2. (Still looking for Pete Rose Blackjack ) Kyle, I've got a few INTV games on my tradepage I'd like to trade for 2600 carts, if you're interested.

Pathetic things you did to play two-player games alone
candiru replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
Here's one you can definitely file under the pathetic category. Formation flying with the Combat planes!!!!! ...Pull up beside the other jet, fall back, accelerate forward and line up on the other side, etc. Yes, I used to do this. -
Keep an eye on the 8-bit prices at Funco
candiru replied to candiru's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well, I finally made it back to the Funcoland and talked to the manager again. He basically confirmed what has been said by a few folks here already. He said that it went for all their affiliate stores (Gamestops, etc.), and that it was going to be national. He also said that it could happen as early as March. I'm kind of disappointed that this is happening, but on the bright side, I'm hoping more of the NES stuff will make it to the pawn shops or end up at garage sales. (Probably just pump more cash into %#@* Ebay though.) -
The cars in Indy 500 sound like the Combat tanks, and when you run into something in Indy 500 it makes the same sound as the tanks shooting.
-
A manager at Funcoland told me that they will soon stop trading and selling 8-bit stuff, and they will probably have some huge sales this summer. I didn't think to ask at the time if it was going to be just local or a nationwide policy. Maybe this isn't new information, but I thought I'd try to give a heads-up to anyone it might help.

Game catalogs are great. I used to drool over them all the time as a kid. I especially remember wanting Defender. I think my favorites now are the folded posters with the line "Atari 2600, it doesn't get older, it gets better" or something like that. Now, I like to entertain the little lady by looking through them going, got it, got it, need it, got the Sears version, got it.... There's always this heartfelt look of admiration in her eyes when I do that.

I was at a Funcoland the other day and saw a Tengen Pac-Mania for $12 and Namco Ms Pac-man for $15. Even though they were both loose carts, aren't these prices sort of low for something that's supposed to be kind of rare? From the NES rarity lists I've been able to find these are both given an "A" rating. I've looked through the AA posts and online at the various NES rarity guides but it seems like a lot of the rarer games on these lists aren't super super scarce, or don't seem to command top dollar. Is it due to them being newer and more plentiful or is just because there is less known about NES rarity? I'm pretty new to NES collecting so it would be great if someone more familiar with rarity and pricing would chime in here.

I haven't been to the site for awhile but it seems like http://www.webmonkey.com had some good tutorials and tips for starting out. Oh and you needn't bother checking out my site for any design tips. I put it together in about 5 minutes and haven't bothered to make it pretty yet, if ever.
