I'm glad somebody has luck at their Goodwill stores. I've never found anything Atari at the one's around KC. The Salvation Army was finally good to me though. I got Desert Falcon, Gravitar, and Jr. Pac-Man new in box, and I got Battlezone and Pole Position complete in box. At $3 apiece I didn't exactly make an amazing deal, (although I did talk the guy down from $5) but at least it ended my dry spell and gave me a much needed Atari fix.

Some of these posts reminded me of something else. It's a good thing I really only look for Atari 2600 and NES. I think in all my thrifting, besides A2600, NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis, I haven't seen much of anything else. Just 1 A7800 game, 1 Jaguar game, and a small batch of Intellivision carts. Even the used game shop where I find a few things only has 2600 stuff. It makes me wonder if anyone around Kansas City ever had a 5200 or 7800.

I ask because sometimes I see posts where somebody will say something like Well, not exactly, but are some areas just much better for finds at thrifts/pawns/flea markets/garage sales? Can some of you go into just about any thrift store and find at least a Pac-Man or Combat? Things are pretty dry around here when it comes to finds, so I was just curious.

It's not a thrift find, but I finally got Kaboom at a local used game store that sometimes has Atari stuff. I'm excited to finally get this one after having already bought a dead one and then later missing a chance to buy one at another store when I was a buck short.

No support for Space Cavern, huh? It must just be that I liked it as a kid and all the memories it brings back. Oh well. Wasn't there a thread awhile back about crappy games that you like anyway? I guess this one's mine

I know badbrad has been mentioned already but I wanted to say that based on our trade, he's honest and a fast shipper. Thanks for a great trade.

You can bag on Space Cavern if you want to, but I will NOT stand idly by and let someone even insinuate that I like Space Jockey! Sure, it's not as low as saying someone thinks the 2600 port of Pac-Man is superior to the arcade, but still, pretty low. (To badbrad: I almost felt bad trading Space Jockey to you.)

OK, I shamefully confess, I actually like this game. Maybe it's nostalgia because it's one of the few games I had as a kid. I had about 10 games and I think it shined compared to Pac-man, Human Cannonball, Space Jockey, Carnival and a few others my parents had picked out. It does start out kind of slow, but it's good for zoning out. It starts to get pretty good up around 60,000 or 70,000. Yeah, the aliens do kind of look like Tiki masks, but my favorites are the dancing fat ladies wearing green dresses. (Alright, maybe it was just my sisters and me that thought this.)

My wife carries around a list of my collection and she found me 5 games I needed at an antique mall and gave them to me for Christmas. The first "Atari Christmas" I've had since '83. I had her take me back to where she found them, and after I rummaged around for a bit found about 40 games behind some boxes. I bought Spitfire Attack and a boxed Dark Chambers for cheap. I also left a note for the dealer making an offer for the whole batch. *crosses fingers*

I voted for Inky the first time around, but I don't want to have to kiss moycon's arse, so... moycon 3583. And yet, by changing my vote am I not also kissing arse? Damned Catch 22 is what it is. A clever conspiracy by moycon no doubt.

I've got to put my 2 cents in for M*A*S*H. Not terribly complicated just lots of simple fun and competition. I recently replaced my dead cart via a trade with rsiddall. Lots of helicopter flying in the next few days.

So are the changes mainly graphical or do the games act more like the arcade as well. For example, the different strategies between Arcade Space Invaders and (the old) 2600 Space Invaders.

Speaking of Custer's Revenge hacks... (OK, I'll admit up front that this is wrong) I bet somebody could do a "Deliverance" hack of Custer's Revenge, maybe where the player controls the arrows.

Mmmm Kudos. Thanks MegaManFan. So far I've traded with oesii, MegaManFan, and rsiddall. Each one a gentleman among gentlemen.

Well you see.... When a man loves a contest VERY much.....

Heh, When I first tried to read that before copying and pasting, I thought it said "It's the transvestite thing"

I haven't bought anything yet. I was just trying to figure out about what it might be. I must have screwed up when I was trying to calculate it at Australia's post office site. I don't have any experience with shipping internationally so I'm a little in the dark. Thanks.
-
Maybe I'm way off base here, but are you trying different carts or the same one each time you power it up. I've got a few games that seem to need cleaned fairly often for them to work.
-
I was just curious about what I would expect to pay for shipping something from Australia to the U.S. Am I right in assuming it would cost at least $15 (U.S) just to have one cart shipped to me? Would there be any extra import duties, taxes, fees, etc. associated with this? Thanks.

Thanks, for the feedback, guys. I can't say I know the difference between Taito and Midway, but it must be the Midway because it looks like all the other SI arcade games I've seen.
-
I came across one the other day and was considering purchasing it, but I know next to nothing about arcade cabinets. This one works, and while it's not in perfect shape, it doesn't look beat up either. Opinions appreciated. Thanks.

This auctionlists a number of games for sale including, Hyperspace. I've looked on Atariage and not found it. Is Hyperspace a game for another system that the seller might be confused about?

I'm not sure about hardest, but Space Jockey can't be far from being the easiest. If you lose all your lives in Space Jockey you're either not trying very hard or you're less than 5 years old.
