My favorite is Time Pilot, followed closely by Venture.

The car analogy isn't a bad one, but still, the demand and prices for older cars are declining as that generation dies off. There are fewer and fewer interested in the really old stuff. Most people want what they're nostalgic for. Things like old cars tend to be preserved, they just have a harder time selling, and go for a little less money than they used to. However, it's much much easier to junk videogame stuff than an entire car. If you want your collection preserved in some way, let your family know.
Not that you'll care after you're dead, but still....

Journey. You've got a sweet ride and all the hot groupie lovin' you can handle!

You got Asteroids?

Usually the Vader model because that's the first kind I ever had. If I do switch it out, I use a light sixer. I keep a 7800 hooked up too, so really I could put the 2600 away, but I just wouldn't feel right about doing something like that.

I only play my PS2 because I fear that my older consoles will break.
When Im on, Im either playing Sonic Mega Collection, GTA-whatever,
Activision Anthologey, or the Namco Museum.
Gonna be picking these up soon too.

Get 'em out and play! That's what they're meant for. If you're talking about older cartridge-based systems, chances are they'll be up and running long after the multitude of moving parts in your PS2 have self-destructed.

Welcome to Atari. You might be surprised how much more you enjoy the games on original hardware than on an anthology. The Wico joysticks are good sturdy sticks, but definitely give the CX-40 a chance. In a lot of cases the Wico sticks feel big and clumsy to me in comparison.

Activision and Imagic have some of my most played games, but when it comes an overall favorite I still have to choose Atari. No specific reason, maybe it's all just nostalgia, but Atari just feels right.

Please tell me I'm not the only one to notice that in Frogs and Flies on the 2600, you can lick the other frog's butt if you're behind it on the lily pad. This can be a great way to break the other player's concentration.

Then while you're looking for Atari 2600 or Colecovision, you'll probably find some Intellivision stuff so you should probably start picking that up too. The 2600 might get you interested in the 5200 and 7800. There's the Jaguar too. You'll come across the occasionial Odyssey^2 and odd Pong unit. If you get the Genesis you might as well pick up a 32X and the CD add-ons. Your bound to come across a Saturn sometime. Let's see, what else.........
Really I'm not being sarcastic. It can and DOES happen. If the NES interests you the most, you should probably just start there and pick up the types of games you most like to play and see where else that leads you.

If you find the need for high pressure air in short bursts you could always just get an air tank and charge it up at a gas station compressor for a couple quarters.

These aren't quite in the vein you mentioned, but you should be able to find them easily and plenty cheap enough.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron is good. And as long as I'm thinking about Star Wars, the pod-racing game really is a pretting good racer.

I bought a Mattel Hyperscan and found it to be an EXCELLENT value. Based upon the bucketloads of sheer enjoyment the Mattel Hyperscan has allowed me to experience, I would easily have paid TWICE as much! I will be buying a Mattel Hyperscan for everyone I know this Christmas so that they too may know happiness!
Please help me. I have been taken hostage by captainjustice.

I agree on small and cheap considering your intended use. One thing to consider is that many of compressors you're likely to encounter in the cheaper bracket are the "oil-less" or "oil-free" variety. There's nothing wrong with them, especially if it's mainly for occasional use. I've got that type myself. However, be forewarned that they are LOUD! They are significantly louder than the other types. You'll probably want to wear hearing protection if you're going to be around it while it's pumping up. If the one I have craps out or I outgrow it, I'll spend a few more dollars and get an oil-lubed compressor next time.

I just came here to post about a new skin and found this thread. Awesome. I am dead serious on this idea too:
A skin that makes the website look like a Microsoft Office program. This way. I surf at work, but only when I have no work to do. So one day because of the bright orange scheme someone asked what I am doing. We don't have much work to do in the summer.
Your post genuinely horrified me until I read the reasoning behind it.

You might actually expand your range of possible games by going back to OS 9. You could play Warcraft 1 and 2, Starcraft. I see you're not really looking at FPS games, but I think all the Marathons were released as free downloads. There are quite a few games out there for OS 9 and the previous system versions.
I guess if your HD is big enough you could set it up as a dual booting machine. There's classic mode of course, but I don't have any experience running OS 9 games in classic mode through X. My guess is that it's not so great. On my home computer I skipped from a 400 Mhz G4 (which I kept as OS 9) to one of the new Mac Pros, so I missed out on A LOT of the transitional stuff when it comes to gaming.
OS X is probably taxing that machine pretty well all by itself, and I think a lot of the OS X native games are going to want a machine with better specs than a 500 Mhz G3.
Check out xlr8yourmac.com. I haven't been there for awhile, but they used to have some pretty good write-ups on benchmarks and how software performed on different configurations.

Hmmmm
You're right. Tell you what, mention anything...anything at all and I will hold the sammich up next to it and take a picture in real time and post it.
Another bologna sammich -- No, the Phantom! -- Wait, I know, a pair of green slacks! Dammit, I can't choose.

D'ya think Atari did this to create collectibles -- i.e. intentionally put things in that allowed indentations, holes poked, etc., in hopes that they could sell off some untampered ones years later for mucho bucks?
No, I think they did it to hide the screw holes in order to discourage smart-alec kids from opening their carts to "see what's inside".

What's in there? Tape?

I'd have to say Entombed also. It's not much to look at, but the gameplay is solid.
2nd runner-up Gopher. Oh that damned gopher!

snip......This is a gross over sight on Gamefaqs part......snip
I wondered about that too. Is it really an official Gamefaqs thing or can any chump submit a Top 10 list -- no matter how uninformed? Oh well, at least he's a chump that plays Atari.

Cosmic Ark? I never really thought of that one as a shooter.

Complaints that a game's story isn't very good, seem to get blown way out of proportion. I can understand it to a certain extent, especially with RPGs. But when you come right down to it, a game is fun to play or it isn't.

My first thought before even opening the thread was also the Zelda theme. The music for the dungeons is great too.
AHHHHH! Well it's catchy and sticks easily in your mind, I'll give you that.
