  1. If you get stuck with the PAL game let me know
  2. working on it! the biggest issue with controllers is finding an effective way of labelling buttons. Because I use high gloss enamels I can't screen and cut vinyl is almost impossible to cut in those sizes .......
  3. The Lynx sold well here in Australia for what its worth. The Oz only packaging with chequered flag pack in is proof of that. I also remember seeing kiosk/display units at the time. Whenever I pull my Lynx out in public I am surprised by the number of people who approach me and say that they either had one or that they knew someone who did. This was in spite of the fact that Sega was King here through eighties and early nineties. I still have some suppliers that have original accessories for sale! Unfortunately Atari lost most of its distributors here by '95 due to cost cutting and supply issues so the Jag was doomed to fail. I only ever saw it for sale in a couple of independant retailers whereas only 18 months before the Lynx was everywhere including mainstream dept stores.
  4. To answer a couple of questions - the paint is proper two pack enamel applied in an automotive spraybooth/oven with appropriate bonding agents. I would have like to used the Jag logo but couldn't source any decent cut vinyl custom manufacturers that didn't want ridiculous amounts of money. The colours were chosen as a throwback to the original orange/white Atari logos. I've done some blue/white sonic themed Sega consoles and red/white Ninty boxes. I have painted shells of another Lynx completed in the orange/white but am just awaiting them to be signed by someone special before reconstructing. ......and all my work is for sale as is the colouring process , however it is not cheap and postage is a killer - I am sure that I could make a business of this if I was based in the US.
  5. Some of you may have seen my colour modding of other consoles in the General forum - here is my first Jag to undergo the process. This one was in very poor external condition - both the console and CD were purchased "boxed" from the States but were sent with no packaging inserts or foams and got pretty banged up in transit. So they received the "touch"
  6. Now showing : the Fisher Price Jag and Jag CD
  7. You only need an adapter worth about $15 to run UK appliances - same voltage.
  8. Great to deal with - answered a WTB request and came through effortlessy and quickly! Highly recommended - thanks!
  9. I can make them anything you want them to be American GI They will lub you long long time
  10. Any console made by MS I just refer to as Shit-Box or Shit-Box 360
  11. There are some great RPG's .......if you can read Kenji Script I've stated in several posts before that the 3DO version of NFS is superior - I own Sat and PS versions as well but I still stand by what I say on the 3DO version. Even though he is no friend of Atari the 3DO Kid (who is a friend of mine) has a top 50 youtube vid of 3DO games as well as some great compilation vids of Japanese imports.Worth checking out before you buy. Road rash , Wing III , Madden , NFS , Gex , Zhadnost (game show) , Bladeforce , Killing Time , Wolfenstein 3D , Total Eclipse , Return Fire , Shockwave II , Samurai Shodown , Street Fighter II , D , Battlesport (very underrated) , Demolition Man , Snow Job and Casper are all absolute must haves.Remember that many of these games were originally on the 3DO and were ported to other systems - not the other way around - so the coding favours the 3DO chipset! As for English speaking RPG/Adventure - there are two excellent D&D titles - Slayer and Deathkeep, Guardian War/Powers Kingdom , Luciennes Quest (rare and usually commands $100 US) , Dragon Lore , Lost Eden. If you can read Kenji then Sword and Sorcery (Japanese release of Luciennes but more common) and Grand Chef are essential. For something a bit different pop in an audio CD and enjoy the light show - the 3DO had one a couple of years before the Jags VLM stole the show! It was often referred to back in the day as the worlds most expensive lava lamp Also plug in some decent headphones to the controller and enjoy some of the best Dolby Sound of any retro console.
  12. There are some NTSC to PAL converters available from some Australian retailers such as Jaycar but they tend to be expensive and unreliable - you are looking at around $150 for a decent one online. At that price you are far better off visiting a second hand store like The Salvation Army and buying a compatible TV.
  13. Here is the Saturn with the decals in place:
  14. Most decent branded TV's sold in Australia since about 1996 are NTSC compatible - It has nothing to do with the country or console here but is all about the TV. I use a mixture of NTSC and Pal consoles on my TV's - decent ones have an auto detect for the signal. It's no problem. You will have no problem powerwise either if you use an Australian Nintendo cable or buy a generic one with the same output voltage/amps. Make sure you check amps as it is just as important as voltage and whatever you do DO NOT PLUG the US adapter into an Australian socket without a stepdown transformer.
  15. The 3DO version is VERY different. Firstly the vehicle handling is more realistic - EA changed it to a more arcade feel following complaints from players that it was too much like a simulator - I have all 3 console versions and this is a fact. Secondly the Saturn and PS versions had the FMV opponent removed in favour of multiplayer - although the FMV could be annoying it was actually well done and all you wanted to was just have on more go to wipe the smile off of the guys face. And thirdly from a gameplay point of view they stuffed around with the HUD putting the map in your face in the Saturn and PS version whereas in the 3DO it only appeared when you pushed pause. From a purist and gameplay point of view the 3DO version is the best......period - the PS and Saturn versions were completely changed to pander to complainers and completely changed its atmosphere. I like cars that handle like a dog to handle like a dog and if I throw a rear engined car into a hairpin I expect the back to swing out - you get that in the 3DO version - but if your after just a simple arcade racer with multiplayer then go the PS or Saturn. Hmmmmm.......VERY intersting!!! Thank you very much for your detailed answer!!! I appreciate it! This (well, the PS1/Saturn version since it's all I know) is one of my favorite racing games of all time, and I have a lot. I also can appreciate simulation style. The PS1/Saturn version is still a very fun game, but yeah, it's got some arcade element. I don't mind "a little" arcade in my racing games, but I don't care for too much. Too much - for me - would be something along the lines of Ridge Racer or ANY of the games with "Burnout" in the title....YUCK! I have thought about 3DO before, but just don't know much about it. Now you kind of have me thinking about putting it on my list of "wanted" consoles!!!! Haven't seen pricing/availability lately, though. Thanks again!!!! Unfortunately it wasn't the only 3DO debut game that got altered when ported - the very excellent Space Hulk is also superior on its original platform. Another thing to add on the NFS comparison was that its frame rate was considered too slow by players and was increased on PS and Saturn - my problem with that is that on the 3DO the time/distance ratios were done in real time so theoretically if you travelled 10 miles at 100mph on the 3DO the course would take 6min to complete - this is not the case on the others and was incorrectly attributed to the 3DO being an inferior platform. Hardware had nothing to do with it. Return Fire was another that suffered "tweaks" when ported - but other games ported to the 3DO often suffered the same way.

  17. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense in general if you know the proper context of things, but especially given the 1990 date... 1984 perhaps... but that was more warner deciding to ditch atari than Tramiel being the purchaser, either way Morgan wasn't going to get the chance to finish his restructuring of Atari Inc... unless noone offered to buy atari at all. I was including his work at Commodore also My point being that it wouldn't matter who was designing or selling a console even in 1990 it would have been suicide putting him anywhere near your company lol
  18. Just awaiting some decals for the Saturn and wishing I'd done white buttons for the Genesis/MegaDrive but overall pretty happy with this bunch
  19. Check out the 3DO Kids youtube top 50 games - you will be pleasantly surprised at just what was available - many gems got overlooked in the backlash this system endured after its launch. It was reliable and has a good size library - it has the original and best version of Need for Speed and a version of Madden that literally took years to surpass in it's fluidity. Do yourself a favour and get one!
  20. To answer the original question - I'd dismember anyone with a butter knife who dared to put Jack Tramiel in charge.
  21. In Australia too! Until Nintendo set up an internal distribution network here their NES and SNES consoles were all labelled "Mattel" on the packaging right up to the N64.
  22. Was that air or sea? That still converts to @ $60 AU The 2kg rule out of the UK is a stinker. I paid about half of that for a loose CD32 in postage from the UK but had to get the guy to send it in 3 seperate parcels. Console in one , power supply in one and accessories (manual/controller) in another! needless to say , I have only ever had two parcels ever go missing and both of those were from the UK
  23. Never seen him before - thanks for the link! Yeah I wish I was based in the US - I would certainly be able to offer my services so much cheaper. I refuse to do mine though with a hand held sprayer - mine are spraybooth and oven. Some great ideas there - I'll have the next round of pics up soonish
  24. Hey haven't all you Canadians got cars It's a pretty big swim for some of us to get there
