  1. I'm debugging and at a break. The command is: .writemem "H:\Workbench\charmap.chr" $e000 L$400 Trying to dump the character set for a little tutorial-driven editing.
  2. Installed latest JDK and fixed up the path stuff. Now eclipse doesn't start up at all and gives no feedback of any kind. Here's version output: C:\Windows\system32>java -version java version "1.8.0_211" Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_211-b12) Java HotSpot 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.211-b12, mixed mode)
  3. Hmmmm. Actually, not sure I have Java *JDK* installed. Perhaps just JRE. Lemme try that. Stand by...
  4. I've tried it, but same effect. Eclipse opens and works fine. Help gives the same error.
  5. Just getting into WUDSN. Pulled down the current Zero-Installation and put it in "C:\jac\wudsn". Everything seems to run OK, but the Help seems borked. I get an error page: HTTP ERROR: 500Problem accessing /help/index.jsp. Reason: Server Error Powered by Jetty://
  6. You really think Great Gianna Sisters is a better game? In what way? I think: The jump physics feel better in SMB. The enemy design is more attractive and has greater variety in SMB. The level design is better balanced in SMB. The secrets and warps are more cleverly designed in SMB. The music and sound effects are of higher quality in SMB. What of these would you disagree with?
  7. Will there be a working 1450 XLD there? Is there such a thing?
  8. I am cringing at how you have that NetUSBee hanging off the edge of the table like that. You're just begging to have that thing snap the connector off the device or, worse, tear apart the cart slot on the system. Get some support under that thing!
  9. My old man bounced me off the walls a bit over showing all the neighborhood kids that "Handy Fucks Smurfette" demo. Thanks for the reminder! =)
  10. Price: $650 USD + Shipping from 07010 Bundle Includes: Commodore 64C Commodore 1581 Disk Drive CMD FD-2000 Disk Drive Spare Floppy Drive for the FD 2000 1541-III SD-to-IEC Device Commodore Two-Button Mouse Power and Serial Cables for All S-Video/Audio Monitor Cable Note: The drives were tested by formatting a disk, copying a program to the disk, loading the program from the disk, and running the program. Note: The 1541-III has a minor imperfection that results in the SD card sitting oddly in the port and occasionally requiring realignment.
  11. Not bad. It helped me zero in on where its all going pear-shaped. Any program that tries to get a directory from the 1541-III, with or without an image mounted, hangs the machine. I was, however, able to LOAD some proggies and then immediately SAVE them to the CMD FD2000. This will at least get me to the point where I can also format and test the 1581 as well.
  12. I got DraCopy 1.0e to load. I doesn't, however, recognize the 1541-III; even though it loaded from that very same device.
  13. I am getting my ass kicked by this thing. All of the copiers I have tried to use seize the machine up. Presumably, this is become the 1541-III is not an actual 1541 emulator (no 6502), but rather a drive protocol emulator. In any event, I can find a way to copy files off the thing and onto a drive. Anyone have success with this? Recommendations?

  16. Yo! Thanks for the education. Seriously, that was good stuff. As far as the wiring, I decided to go with an old IDE cable.
  17. Are the wires in a CAT5 cable sufficient to carry analog video, line level audio, and 5V for 18"? The 5V is for signaling, measured in single-digit mA, I believe. I am wiring up an RGB mod in my Atari 2600 and I am hoping that a couple of small CAT5 lengths will turn the trick.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I've decided it is a sign from the universe that I should just install the eTim RGB mod I have been procrastinating on for a couple of months. I'll sell the shell with the composite mod to someone else.
  19. Do you recognize the style of the mod, so I may look up the instructions and remove the offending connections? Or do can simply point out what I need to remove?
  20. I bought a Vader with a composite video mod installed from eBay. The photos of the video output that were posted with the listing were extremely clean; soft and some ghosting at the edges, but clean. Now that I have it, however, the video has two thick bands of interference that travel up the screen. I opened it up and took some shots. Also, a couple of shots of the video. Just ignore the old, fat white dude in the glare. =) NOTE: The interference shield covering the chips was there when the video snaps were taken. I removed it to see if the chips were socketed. They are. I think an RGB mod may be in its future.
  21. I play games mostly, and have been working on a general-use SDX "desktop" image. I still love the little stuff, like writing BASIC programs and formatting floppy disks in DOS. I still love duping a disk with Disk Wizard II. You know, the oldies.
  22. I have to give it to you, man. You've got some serious skills.
  23. I would have followed this advice, however, I am a player, not a collector. For the purpose of gaming and nostalgic content creation, the 1040 STe is the better machine; especially with a 32mhz booster and TOS switcher. It has all bases covered.
