Love your setup! But I am too OCD to mix XE and XL styling. Also, I am more of a side-by-side, under-the-monitor man myself. 😃

Glad to hear that since I already have two (2) of them on the way 😃.

And of those 3, which is the general consensus best solution for someone who is only looking for high-speed I/O? Then again, what do opinions and experience prescribe as the best combination of OS upgrade and 1050 drive upgrade for that use case?
-
Yo! Thanks for all the good info!
I see Lotharek selling something called the 1050E upgrade. How does this compare to the Happy and is it, in a way, preferable to a Happy?
-
I have a 1200XL and a pair of Happy 1050's that I intend to use as my "nostalgia driver". Will a Warp+ OS 32-in-1 largely resolve the quirks in the 1200 while also driving high-speed SIO?

Where can I go to buy a FujiNet adapter? I checked Lotharek and I don't see it. Not sure where else to go.

Boom! Raspberry Pi that auto prints the resultant file. Thanks! That is the right move!

Is there a color bubble jet printer of any make and model that supports an emulation mode allowing for the printing of graphics by an 8-bit? Looking for something with Last Word (via fonts), Envision, and PrintShop compatibility.

I've decided to solder a 3mm stereo headphone female onto the head of my existing video-only SCART cable. Simple enough solution.
-
I have a device that outputs RGB video on a din connector with a cable that breaks out to a SCART connector. The device also outputs stereo (dual-mono) audio. I would like to inject the audio signals onto the SCART connector. Is there such a device? My Amazon/eBay searches have come up short.

I've got a Vader with eTim's mod installed. Video interference is awful on both S-Video and RGB. They look as bad as RF, honestly. The soldering is pretty clean. The cable used is an old IDE ribbon. The extra palette selector ribbon cable is soldered on, but rolled up (not terminated). Suggestions? I've seen this mod look amazing on tutorial and review videos. Not sure what's wrong here. Recommendations?

This is a safe place. A place of truth and trust. There is no judgement here. You may admit, here, to loving the games that everyone hates. I'll start.
Sewer Shark on the 3DO. I know, I know. It's essentially a workplace abuse simulator. But I'll be damned if I don't love everything about it. Or damned if I do. Not sure which. 😃
Obsession Pinball on the Amiga. Especially Aquatic Zone. I know that everyone raves about Pinball Dreams. But, to me, Obsession Pinball is the better by far.
Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within on PC. Yes, the acting is bad and the plot makes game progression hard to accomplish. But I just love the thing.
Now c'mon. Don't be shy. We're all friends here.

Any lead on XL brown?

I've looked pretty close. Didn't find anything specific. Anyone?

Also, Monster Joysticks sells a retro stick with Sanwa parts and the second button mapped to UP, which is great for jump-and-shoot games.

Hmmmm. How about IDE+2? I have that one, as well. If I remember right, that does direct media access, no?
-
Just to clarify, I don't mean from an image on the media. I mean a partition on the media itself.
-
Awesome! I can live with "on first". Did it back in the day with SCSI on Sun Workstations, so it's kinds built-in to the brain. 😃

Can the media attached to an SIO2IDE be used to boot an Atari 8-Bit, respecting the 16MB partition limit?
-
I wonder if a hardware Atari on a PCI-e card with integrated upgrades, analog A/V out, an SIO port, and master/slave integration to video, audio, keyboard, and storage would be interesting to anyone. It would save desk space, not be emulation, still have conveniences, and support original peripherals. I'd buy one for sure.
The 1088XEL could v1 the idea by just getting power from the bus.

Understand that I make this analysis as an outsider. I was born and raised in the United States. That said, I think one has to realize the enormous importance, at the multi-national level, that the Sinclair had for the United Kingdom. Sinclair was knighted for it; and not for his symbolic value to an ideal but for the real practical value that his work brought to the entire region. Sinclair propelled the home user out of the commercial atmosphere of early-adopter and into the open space of global-ready market. The Spectrum ignited a wildfire of bedroom coders and most of the many recent documentaries concerning the early days of game development make this clear.
All of this is to say that the nostalgic value of the Sinclair line must have a volume and regional cohesion that any other such effort would not enjoy.

Atari 1029 Printer on 110V

I have an Atari 1029 printer on the way. This is European kit, as I understand it. Can I mod it for 110V, or do I have to get a step-up transformer?
