  1. The one that was listed on ebay just sold for $660 yesterday... I really hope someone makes a new version of this for all us poor folks.
  2. Thanks for the reply! I think I've skimmed through those threads before, but didn't find any info about any limited production runs, one-off's or similar. Someone took the time to create these carts, just curious who?
  3. I got these at auction from a cat in Canada..... anybody know anything about them? The cart picture labels look to all be printed off the same printer, but the end labels on two vary... I figure that Beef Drop is probably from the first batch with the Pokey chip.... The title screen has: "c2006 Ken siders Demo version July 4, 2006" The Q*bert cart is a mystery.... title screen says "Q*bert June 20 2005" The Centipede cart is just like the official version accept it only works with a trackball and not a joystick... was it a hack? Thanks for the help guys!
  4. I'm not holding my breath but I would love to see a 7800 adaption...... Since the Cuttle Cart II is dead.... there isn't much more I can look forward too.......
  5. I popped open my 7800 today to make sure I was remembering everything correctly, been a few years since I had one open, I had forgotten about how much a pain in the ass it is to take of the shielding... The RCA jack on mine is part of the RF box, (physically attached, probably crimped on from the inside of the box) so it would be difficult to get to without de-soldering the entire RF module first. If the jack is just loose, like it twists left or right or has a tiny bit of play from side to side ,AND the picture quality is still good, you could either use a high wattage soldering gun to solder the RCA jack shield back to the RF Shield... this will take a fair amount of heat to do since there is a lot of metal to heat up - Or maybe use some epoxy to glue it in place (this isn't the most ideal but if there is still a good ground contact between the RCA jack and the RF shield you should be OK. Like soldering small jumper wire to the RF shielding and then to the outside of the RCA jack for the ground connection and then glue it up....) If the picture quality is crappy when you have the RCA cable connected and you rock the connection back and forth, then there is definitely a loose connection inside the RF module..... this is a bit more tricky to fix since you will have to perform open RF module surgery.... I would take a dremel with a cutoff wheel and carefully cut through the RF shield on the side away from cartridge holder, if you cut out a litter square it will give you access to the internal circuit board where you can solder the loose connection back together. Once you solder it up, make sure all the metal debris is vacuumed out of the RF module!! Just use some foil tape to patch up the hole you made... Then again you can always do a composite or S-Video mod for it and bypass the whole crappy RF module all together!!
  6. Did you assemble the mod board yourself or did you buy it pre-built. I would check to see if something isn't soldered in backwards... mainly the diode (which should have its cathode (striped) end facing the 4050 chip) or the Electrolytic Capacitors which are polarized and sometimes get put in backwards.... and always... cold solder joints (dull, non-shiny round solder blobs....)!!
  7. If you are talking about the RCA jack for the RF cable then yes.... you can tighten it... with a soldering iron! It is fairly common for the solder joints to break or work loose.... just 5 seconds with a soldering iron can fix that right up! Just open the case, remove the circuit board, flip it upside down and re-flow the solder at the connector, perhaps add some fresh while you are in there.... voila! good as new!
  8. Longhorn's guide for the 4-Switcher is for the Rev.16 motherboard... There were 3 major revisions for the 4 switcher. Rev1-13, Rev14-15, and Rev16+. I just finished a mod on a Rev14 board which has the 820 Ohm resistor connected directly to the TIA socket instead of its own place on the board. Have a look at the pics if you have a Rev14 or 15 board and need some help.... I briefly had my hands on a Rev13 board and it is a bit different since it is before the addition on the diodes and has some resistor value changes...
  9. Hello Everyone! This is my first post... but I've been a lurker for years. Just finished a tutorial on Instructables for merging both a Sega MS controller and 7800 controller together for full compatibility on both the 2600 and 7800's. I got fed up with deciphering ASCII tutorials so I documented the whole process is vivid color!! Check it out here! Sega Master System Controller to 7800 controller mod Hope this helps someone out!
