  1. I have read some of your E-Bay experiences and I have to say that you are beyond a doubt the most patient person that I have ever come across. I think you have every right to file a claim on this one. If the guy lists as new and sends you a "worn the hell out" p.o.s. AFTER he already sent you a broke piece of junk, you have already gone far and beyond the average buyer. Get your money back and send him back his crap.
  2. I have owned and currently own some of these machines except for Qix and Q-Bert. I never had any problems with Robotron, Ms.Pacman, or Asteroids. Missle command I had a few minor problems which I actually got fixed by joining the AA website and getting great advice by one of the moderators. Centipede has been a nightmare though, 3 boards and a (power supply?) later, and it will work sometimes. So in my opinion Asteroids, Robotron, and ms. Pacman are all pretty safe bets. I will say that I have owned Robotron for the longest (20 years, bought it a few years out of high school) and it has never once let me down. Another machine I have owned for a long time is Ivan Stewarts 'Off road' and it still runs like new.
  3. Random beat me to it, but I am pretty sure it is Plaque Attack also.
  4. Close, that's my girlfriend for now. Rick Sorry, I swear to god that I thought she said wife. Anyway, thanks for a great show. By the way who won the multicade machine? I left after a few hours and was hoping it was someone from the A.A. board.
  5. Uhrr? I don't have a wife, that I know of! ..Al I met Ricks wife, she was the lady checking names for bracelets. I think I met you at the Atari Age booth, but you were extremely busy and it was tough to get a conversation going. I was the guy with the black Atari shirt on and the high and tight haircut (old habits die hard). I am not even sure it was you though. There were two people there and I talked to the shorter of the two thinking it was you.
  6. I have owned probably close to a thousand different games from one system or another and have only had one single game ever fail me (Custers Revenge). So your experience is not out of the norm at all.
  7. I saw a Tron machine just last week-end at the retro gaming show. I also had the high score on it before it quit working. Not too rare back in the day, but pretty rare now.
  8. Guess Custer can't get it on anymore. @ Atari Dogs. Must've been Custridge's Last Stand. Do you have any idea on how to fix the cart? It is just a bunch of lines when I put it in. No sound either.
  9. I never thought Crazy Climber was SUPER hard.. I normally get to the 3rd building. But even veteran CC players hate those stupid girders/dumbbells. Once you understand the controller scheme, you can move up the building pretty quickly. The dumb bells are are a major reason I can't get past the 2nd building very often. I can blow thru the first building, but I usually lose at least 3 guys on the 2nd. Any tricks on how to defeat the dumb bells? I have searched online and there is nothing of value at all. The tricks they say do not work AT ALL! I want to eventually go for the T.G. record, but I need some help. Been a good while since I played.. but all I can say is make sure you have plenty room to move when the dumbbells/girders start falling.. they tend to bounce for some inexplicable reason and move left or right instead of falling straight down. So be prepared to move, or not move! Also, unlike the other dangers, if you fall, when you return they will still come down at you. So you really need to get out of there as fast as you can! Other than that, I can't really help you too much.. however, check this website out and shoot the webmaster an e-mail.. he might be able to give you some pointers! http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/climber/climber.html Thanks for the link. I have since been able to beat the 4th building. I think with some luck I can get near the T.G. top 5 scores.
  10. It looks like Sinistar makes the hard list alot http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=27&id=1855. And so does Ghosts n Goblins.
  11. Great show Rick. Unfortunately I did not meet you. I met your wife, Albert? I think, Sammy, and John. Bought a few loose carts (2600) and a t-shirt of course. I was hoping for a big score, but everyone there was extremely educated and most everything was right around market value. I did get the high score on Asteroids 99,940 (or their about) and the high score on Tron before it stopped working. I played the little multi-cade machine and finished the complete first level of Scramble. I forgot how much I enjoyed that game. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for a great time and hope the show will be here again soon.
  12. Me too. By the way, great job on that Galaxian score.
  13. I wish I could of got that deal ($150 for the box and instructions). I have the game, but no box or instructions. I need to try this side deal stuff and see how I do.
  14. Why do you think it ended early? Maybe E-Bay pulled it for some reason?
  15. I honestly can't understand why you would tell her it's worth x amount of dollars and take away a guys one chance at getting an incredible deal. If you sell something on E-Bay it is up to you to set the price and be happy if you get it. To be honest I think this sale is a sham, I do not believe it is an Atlantis II in the first place, but to screw over someone who MIGHT be getting a great deal is pretty crappy. I have never made much money and almost all the very few r8s and r9s that I have were acquired by getting an incredible deal. Anyway, you asked for opinions and thats mine.

  17. I recently bought a Crazy Climber for nothing more than nostalgic reasons, and it is HARD. I forgot how hard it actually was to manipulate the controllers. I own quite a few Coin ops. and this is by far the hardest, it is almost impossible to get very far. I have had it over a week now and still have trouble getting past the second building. For whatever reason I thought I was good at this back in the day, but I suck.
  18. If it disappeared from your buying list, then eBay yanked the auction for some reason, and your conclusion of there being a side deal is unfounded. Why would it be on my buying list if I could no longer buy it? As you seem to be an E-Bay expert, is there any way to find the auction again? If it ended early (or normally), and you had a bid on it, it would still be in your Didn't Win list. When they yank one, it's as if it never existed, so it diappears from all lists. However, usually when eBay yanks an auction, it notifies anyone who had bids in. So I don't know what the scoop is. All I can say is, keep searching, maybe they'll relist it. Yeah, it is not on my did not win list. You must be right about E-Bay yanking it. Guy had perfect F.B.

  20. I am not defending the seller but many people that put coin-ops on Ebay also have them listed locally on Craigslist. After it sits on CL for months with no takers they will pop it on Ebay to see what the market decides it is worth....well, sure enough the second you do that someone will respond to your Craigslist ad and give you the full asking price. I have ended coin op auctions early because of that but I always list in the auction that it is for sale locally and can end at any time. This guy did not say whether or not it was listed locally. I always look for that when I bid, and listed locally was not part of item description. One thing I can't figure is why people list stuff and side deal halfway through the auction. As far as I am concerned, I would have more than likely paid more than their side deal. I use E-Bay all the time, because there is no one else, and I have been shady dealed many times. You would think E-Bay could figure this out. Anyway, I have ranted long enough. Thanks for the response though. By the way (Crazy Climber) I just bought a Crazy Climber arcade coin-op. It is, and was, one of my favorite games growing up. I used to play at the bowling alley by dads house.
  21. I was bidding on a Phoenix cocktail table arcade machine located in Sacramento. I am pretty sure I would have won if the guy would not have done a side deal. E-Bay is screwing up on this side deal stuff. I was buying it for my mom (truth). Anyone else see this auction? I don't have the link as the auction disappeared from my buying list.
  22. Looks like an advertisement page. Several references to items for sale on the webpage. Game looks like fun if were an actual release. I wonder who owns the page?
