Finally got my Mutants!!
Thanks AX!! -
I finally got a ColecoVision recently (thanks, Ax!).
It's my third. I had one when they were originally released, but returned it to the store so I could get a 5200. I also had one in the 90s, bought at a flea market. I got rid of that one when I downsized my collection to just Atari 8-bit, SNES, Jaguar, and Lynx in the late 90s.
I currently have the following games, CIB:
Carnival
Cosmic Avenger
Frenzy
Lady Bug
Looping
Mouse Trap
Space Fury
Venture
Zaxxon
I really enjoy all those games very much!
I also have one Super Action controller. Since it's kind of flaky, I just use it to select games. I have a 7800 euro controller plugged into the first port, and I use that to play the games. But I have a couple of standard controllers on their way, along with a Roller Controller, Slither, and Donkey Kong.
I'm trying to make a deal with an AA user for Gorf, Omega Race, Pepper II, and Wargames CIB.
Beyond that, I hope to someday own Tapper, Spy Hunter, Up 'N' Down, and Victory.
I don't really have any plans for games beyond that. I'm leery of getting any game for multiple systems, so I tend to avoid the ports such as Defender. (That's why I got a ColecoVision -- there are lots of good games for it that are on no other system.)
As for the driving controller, it seems like it would be awkward to use and store, and I believe there are only two games for it, so I'm not too keen on getting that either.
I am, however, interested in the Opcode Games expansion module and their version of Donkey Kong.
yea, im also on the hunt for Spy Hunter and Tapper..would be sweet to own bump n jump too..

I guess I've been pretty lucky as far as ColecoVisions go.I've never found a non working CV,and I've found about 10 of them in the last several years at thrift shops. The only thing I've encountered were garbled graphics when ever console was touched or moved during play.I fixed that problem with a simple fix at the RF modulator box inside console.
Please share..very interested.

I was wondering how many fans are out there? I love the Colecovision, my gf and I play it all the time. I aslo collect items for it and am interested in Homebrews.
From the Forums, seems like there are not many of us Colecovision fans out there. Please leave comments about your collecting, playing, modding, repairing or homebrewing.
Just got mine today..Its like a 2600 on steroids..

Screw Mario, I want a Scrap Yard Dog 2 and 3.
We already know that it's possible.AX
...and the reply of the the year goes toooo.. -
Somebody has been visiting Digital Press
.
You got me!! -
Pretty sure this topic has been discussed before but im curious to what AA has to say..I would say yes, because of Scrapyard Dog
but other forums say hell no to SMB3, and almost all say NO to SMB 1..Not trying to bring up another homebrew idea, I'm just wondering..is/was the 7800 capable of a SMB?... -
bump it on up..
-
I was walking down Guadalupe a couple weeks ago with my Atari shirt on and some homeless dude yelled at me that "Intellivision is better MAN!".
LMAO!!
-
Meh. The 7800 is capable of much better. Tetris is a fine game and all, but I'd rather see Rally-X or a nice RPG or maybe see Zaxxon done (right) on a home console.
Zaxxon..excellent choice!

new price bumper upper..

I've got a stack of old Nintendo Power Magazines I'm looking to shed. Issues 40-75 and 88, All mags are in really nice condition, nothing missing, and are in plastic sleeves. Some do have address bar on front but not many. I'd rather ship 'em to someone who will enjoy these more than me (these vol. more concentrate on SNES, I'm more into NES)..If you need more pics or ? about certain issues let me know. pm me a fair offer on these if interested and take em off my hands..whew.

Pro Lines do not suck as bad as everyone says, Everyone just says that because of the bandwagon effect. True Euro pads are great but I prefer my Prolines over the Euros for most games.

this.
playing any kind of classic arcade port like Pac-Man Collection, Donkey Kong, Joust, Food Fight with a Europad is pretty weak.
and compared to both the NES and SMS pads, the Atari ones are terrible.

I own an Atari 7800 since Christmas 1989. I never was big on the pro-lines and it is not the bandwagon effect. The Controllers bothered my arm at times if I played too long. I ended up using Atari 2600 Controllers for a good amount of games before getting Euro pad in 2006.
The Euro pads are great for games like Commando, but are not made for games like the Pac-man collection.
I too got my 7800 in '89 and the Prolines have never hurt mine or any one I played w/ arms. Maybe, a slight crap but no more than the 2600 joysticks do. Although the Prolines are not perfect I just think they get too bad of a rap because of what someone else says. Even people who've never even had them say it because of neg. reviews. Where I grew up no one complained about the Prolines There are way worst controllers out there. I have scored my highest scores w/ the Prolines ..including Commando. If I want to play Commando with pads I'll play NES. The Euros are nice but IMO not the grand solution to whoopin ass on the 7800.

Defender or Defender II
in Atari 2600

Defender is great for nostalgia purposes only(IMO)..but in my case, I always thought it was lame..I'm stickin' with the II on this one
