  1. I will try it tonight or tomorrow. I received my copy, but I haven't gotten to open it yet.
  2. I really enjoy your works. I wonder if we could get them all on a cart one day.
  3. That's really cool. I wonder how the big N doesn't pounce on them. If I was better at 7800 basic, I'd make it so that he could move around and shoot.
  4. The most amazing works that I've seen on the C64 are Sam's Journey and Mayhem in Monsterland. Have you seen those? They aren't demos of course, but they are jaw dropping.
  5. Something I did a few years ago. It doesn't do anything. Just a screen to see what it would look like. kidicarus.bas.a78 kidicarus_bin.bin
  6. Off topic, but what exactly is the monitor cartridge for? Some sort of hardware diagnostic?
  7. What about that chip that was used for Rikki and Vikki? Those aren't as in short supply (from what I know) as pokey chips. Plus it sounds awesome.
  8. Take your time, at least for me that's fine.
  9. I ordered mine! Can't wait!
  10. I haven't read the whole thread, so I apologize if this has already been said, but with a few titles like these, a 7800 mini with HDMI or a Retron77-like machine would be a no brainer. I have this game on Steam and I can't wait for the 7800 version. As an aside, I'd kill for a Steam version of Zaku. I have the Lynx cart but my old Lynx screen is so faded.
  11. What I meant was for the development of new titles.
  12. It's amazing and unfortunate how cheap Atari was at the time. $10k is peanuts. If they would have spent a little here and there on some serious development of software, the 7800, the Lynx could have fared so much better. It would have only taken a few titles that were truly special. We can still do it though. Heck, Atari should do it. The press coverage alone would pay for the development cost for 8 bit software. It would generate buzz (like "the New 8 bit Heroes"). Then they could release a "7800 mini" with a bunch of built in killer 8 bit apps. Just my dream.
  13. That looks really cool. I can't wait to play a demo level, or to even see a vid of one. It's such a huge endeavor.
  14. Is it an NTSC unit hooked up to an NTSC TV? Have you tried it with another TV? Have you tried more than one cartridge?
  15. It would be so awesome to read some anecdotes about what it was like to work on that project . A YouTube vid would work too. Actually it would be very interesting to have both you (regarding the XM) and your friend (regarding the original MARIA chip) recount your experiences in a book or video or something.
  16. I have been looking forward to this since I first heard of it. I think I pre-ordered one years ago. I am almost certain that I did, but I honestly can't remember anymore. I definitely want to get one. I've been wondering... does the XM allow for more color palettes in the 320 modes?
  17. OK. I tried that. I did get it to work twice out of like 20 tries. It's so nice and clear. It might be that this console is just off a bit idk. I haven't had to do it on the unmodded unit, but at the same time, all my other games work. I might just get another 7800 that I can play on a modern TV anyway. It's an awesome game.
  18. I recently got Space Invaders and Crystal Quest, which are both awesome. I have only been able to play Space Invaders with an unmodded 7800 (RF unit style). On my modded system it only displays a strange artifact. I wondered if it any 320 mode game would do that, but Tower Toppler works fine. Has anyone else tried Space Invaders on an AV modded system? I know there are different types. Does anyone know if there is a specific kind I should get? I would buy an HDMI modded system too if those were an option.
  19. I know. It was the 8bit version. I was just playing it on an XEGS. I just thought it was funny that my kid said that. The 7800 version is super smooth.
  20. I was playing Centipede on an XEGS the other day and my kid asked me why it looked so slow - he's used to seeing me play the 7800 version. 7800 Centipede is my fav. Coleco version the spider hovers near the bottom too much, but it's still pretty fun. C64 version is also good.
  21. I wasn't intending on selling any of it. I just wanted to see what certain NES games would potentially look like on a 7800. At least for me, the graphics from those games are a good frame of reference. I am working on my own stuff though.
  22. That is really cool. I was just reading about that music tracker too.
