  1. Yes there is some color. Also note that my NTSC c64 dtv works fine on it. But tried a pal nes and it doesn't work right.
  2. Damn that is such a bummer about all the different revisions. Guess I'll wait till next month when I get my pay and buy another LCD.
  3. Ok its not a SNES... well it is but the Japanese version Super Famicom Anywayz, it works perfect but after around 20-30 minutes of play I get a slight but annoying sort of vertical screen "banding". Shows most on texts like in the menu of the Everdrive. I dont know if banding is the right word but instead of "|" i get more like "/" but not that bad. It gets worse after time. If i switch off for a couple of minutes it goes, but comes back again. Its not the RGB cable as I also tried via composite RF I doubt its the power brick (3rd party) as i've tried another power brick (which I use on my Famicom) and it does the same problem. Any ideas ?
  4. Most likely a cold solder joint. I've got the same problem on my Turbo Express and Atari Lynx and on a GameGear. Need to sort them out.
  5. It looks like one of the more common ones that people have used in their mods. Unfortunately its been a while since I bought it (3-4 months ago) and I can't view the eBay item page for it. It came in a plain box with no model number and there is nothing written on the it such as make or model number. It's got 2 AV (Video) in phono cables & one 12V IN power plug. It looks like this : http://image.dhgate.com/albu_256664688_00-1.0x0/3-5-inch-color-tft-lcd-2-channel-car-rear.jpg
  6. I'll open it up tomorrow and check again and post some highres pictures of it. The caps look ok, no leaking etc..
  7. I've got a Sega Gamegear which works perfectly with a wall power supply but absolutely dead if I try and use batteries. I opened it up and all the connections look fine. The battery terminals look perfect too with no damage or corrosion. Other than that I was surprised to see that it still has all the original caps, given that sound works fine and the display is absolutely perfect, just like a brand new Gamegear.
  8. My Sega Nomad works fine... As fine as a standard Nomad can work, which means the factory LCD looks washed up. I bought a $20 LCD display 3.5 inch from eBay to do the LCD replacement mod but before starting the mod decided to hook it up to the AV out of the Nomad to test it. The result is a rolling display and bad colors (almost black & white but not quite) - Check out the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REwkctfpd50 I tested the LCD with an NTSC Commodore 64 DTV and it worked fine. I tested the Nomad with my CRT TV using the AV cable and it was fine. Should I blame the Nomad or the AV cable ? I guess not as that setup works with my CRT TV. Should I blame the 3.5 inch LCD ? It does not have any settings other than the usual brightness/contrast/color/Saturation etc... I tried both AV1 and AV2 both producing the exact same result as seen in the video.
  9. Double Dragon III (PAL) will not work on a US NTSC NES no matter if the chip is disabled
  10. I doubt its a capacitor issue. The Lynx does not really suffer from faulty caps. Even if so it would still work to a certain degree. RAM fault, clock issue or power... Hmmmm that goes beyond my technical capabilities. I was more hoping for some common problem like a loose cable or damaged transistor or something. I opened it up and everything looks OK. I looked at the cartridge connector and it looks clean.
  11. Hmmm I would hope to actually fix it rather then change the motherboard.
  12. Hi, I have 3 Lynx's. A Lynx I which works perfect, Lynx II also works perfect but the 3rd Lynx has issues. It switches on (only with a cart inserted) with both batteries and ac adapter but it does nothing. The backlight turns on and it does the normal click sound but that is it. The game does not load, no sound and you cannot adjust the brightness. So in a nut shell it turns on including backlight but nothing else. Not even "Insert Game". Nothing. I tried many games but nothing works. Anyone know if it is a simple fix ? It is a Lynx I PAG-0200 Made in Japan
  13. I have always been an Amiga guy, but i recently got my hands on a 1040STe. This machine is in great condition and works really well but i have no games for it. I have got loads of ST disk images on my PC and was wondering how i should go about transferring them to a real ST disk so that i can play them on my STe With the Amiga I know its disk format cannot be read on the PC but i don't know about the ST. Is there a special software or cable i can use?
  14. I have a Lynx (The older version) which when i switch on makes a sound from the speaker for 1/2 a second and the screen lights up but no display or game sound or anything. I have tried different games but still nothing. Without a game inserted it will not switch on as normal. Turning up or down the brightness does nothing either. I tried also spraying an ISO cleaner (for circuit boards) into the cart slot and tried inserting/removing the cart a lot of times to try and clean it. Any ideas what i could look for to maybe try and fix it?
  15. I don't think you can do that. RF-in on a TV is usually coax, and the Atari cable is an RCA plug. You need a switchbox. I dont know .. I have a 2600Jr and that works fine on my TV .. Is that a different type of system with regards to the television cable ?
  16. I got my hands on this old Atari 2600 .. Its the type with the wood and has difficulty switches at the back and has the RF cable hard wired . I used a universal 9 Volts power supply with the positive (+) on the middle part of the tip . I put a game cart in and switched the system on .. I cannot get a display or sound or anything and i have no idea if the system is actually powered on as it has no power light . I tried connecting it to 2 TV's (Samsung 42" Plasma and Toshiba 32" LCD) by plugging the wire (RF lead) directly into the TV's RF input . I did not use any switch boxes or whatever . I live in Malta and use European PAL , but both TV's have support for NTSC . I have no idea if the console is a PAL or NTSC as there are NO labels on it . Any help would be appreciated very much .. Thanks
