  1. Eh, while I agree with a few of these, I would have them in differant spots on the list. Still, this is someones opinian, and not an objective list.
  2. Watched the whole thing, my IQ just dropped 40 points. In all seriousness, is this kid for real or a troll?
  3. That is pretty cool. Not authentic mind you, but cool to watch.
  4. Goodwill tends to over charge, so I goto Value Villiage and Savers. The best deals I got were on Craigslist though, I got an Atari 800 w/48k RAM, Floppy Drive 20+ Game Carts, two binders filled with floppys, and assorted boxed floppys, 6 controllers, 2-3 paddle controllers, controller extension cbles and other assorted goodies for the price of absoluteley nothing. The guy just wanted someone who would appreciate it to have it.
  5. Loved it anyway Esence of starcraft is there, game like that could even be playable on 8bits... Very true, looks like it could be a great game.
  6. Its not real. http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/05/15/8-bit-starcraft-i-would-have-played-this/
  7. Huh? Having a way more expensive product than your competitor is bringing it to the masses? Yep that's exactly it Try this instead: the mouse, graphical user interface, USB, multi-touch interface, etc. You know, those things you take for granted now. Intresting side note, Apple did not make the first GUI OS, Xerox did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerox_Alto I have never really gave much thoughts to the inovations or non inovations if you prefer, I just loved the system. I loved the games, I loved that little grey box, when I was 5 I did not care about those sort of things.
  8. There is a prety simple solution to your guys problems, just don't play them Did I say I did not like them? I used to be very active in Gaming World way back when, and there were some great games made on a varity of platforms, however there were a lot of people who simply to a LTTP or FF sprite sheet to do a "remake" that had been done a hundred times before. Does not mean some were pretty good.
  9. Makes me think of Bookmans here in AZ. Huge selection of freaking everything. They have everything I like too, I can get my book fix along with my game fix. They also have the best retail prices I have seen so far, though still pricier than eBay. God, Im going to miss that place when I move.
  10. Aren't consoles intristicly souless? :3 Well, aside from waxing philosophic, the question at had is entirely subjective. For instance, I find charm in all retro consoles, even the bad ones, heck even my 360 has a bit of charm to me. Now I like my PS3 as well, the only issue I have with the PSX, as it has been mentioned is the rise of "hardcore" gamers. The title is dumb to me, since I can't seem to get a consitant definition, and just comes down to snobbery. Another issue here seems to be NES vs SMS. I never owned a SMS but I would love to get one for my collection. However, agin the arbitary distinction between the two saying the SMS was more "grown up" thus some how better makes little sense to me. Reminds me of awhile back when I was looking for some of the Capcom Disney cartoon titles, (Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers etc.) and the guy at the store thought it was weird I was asking for games based on "kiddie shows". Clearly the guy never played the actual games, because while I don't watch the shows, the games are solid platformers, some of the best you can find.
  11. I havent made any spectacular finds, but I have got a few awesome things at the local value village. 2 SNES Controlers, $5. Worked fined except for the start buttons, but they work fine for second player. 2 NES Controllers, $5. Worked perfectly, one had kind of mushey buttons, but the other one had a nice clicky feeling to it. 1 Offical SNES AC Adaptor, $3. I think this came with a SNES Jr model, but works with my original as well. I think it can be used on a VB too. 1 Super Mario RPG (SNES), $4. I think this is my best find yet, slight label damage but plays great. 1 Game Boy Camera, $4. Good find too, they had a Game Boy Pocket, but wanted $20, so I passed. Think they dropped the price to ten, but I like my old brick Game Boy. :3 1 Sega Game Gear, $5. Broken, sadly. They only item I have ever bought from them that did not work. Is not in my spare parts bin. 1 Nintendo 64 w/ all hookups, controller and Mario Cart 64, $30. Not the best deal, but still pretty good. The controller is third party, but better then the official ones anyways. 1 Atari 2600 Jr, console only, $5. Works fine, I have everything except for a power adaptor in my spare parts bin. Bought a third party adaptor.
  12. I've had good luck when it comes to ordering things off eBay, except for a Retro Entertainment System I ordered that did not work right. When I got the package, the box looked damaged (It was stuffed into a flat rate box), and was quite clear the post man just dropped it next to my door. I took it out and the items packageing looked fine (thats the biggest reason I bought the thing, I'm terrible I know.)However, I could not get a clear signal at all. I talked to the person I bought it from and they shipped me a new unit at no cost, this one they bubble wrapped the shit out of.
  13. This does seem a bit like Zelda Classic, mind you that was 8 Bit Zelda. Looks like this could be great if used by someone who knows what their doing, otherwise you will end up with a thousand Zelda "remakes".
  14. When it comes to HD tvs, unless what your useing is HD, it someties looks even worse. For me though, in order for the experiance to be complete, I have to play it on a old 19 inchlike i used too, whitch is what i do.
  15. I know if your in the US and you get the top loader NES, it plays both PAL and NTSC. anyways, good luck on finding those games. Some people on eBay might ship overseas.
