I think that's the worst part. Not a single thing they've shown is innovative or interesting. An off-the-shelf AMD board with modest specs. An OS derived from open source projects. Generic controllers that appear identical to existing Xbox controllers. A case that by their own updates doesn't even seem to have final color and materials selected. A UI that looks like any existing TV box such as Roku, AppleTV, Android TV. A games lineup with literally nothing that is not already available on existing platforms. Maybe they think they're fooling the shareholders? Can't wait until they do another comparison matrix where they show their nonexistent thing to be bullet-point-competitive with their "competition."

They can ignore emails, and they can delete comments on the campaign page. Unfortunately I think the only remedy that will gain any traction against "Atari Gamebox LLC" would be to bring a lawsuit against them. It's too early to claim that they haven't delivered anything, but keeping an eye on their dispute with Feargal Mac should be illuminating. Individuals can demand refunds in the meantime. If "Atari" is not responsive, I would think a small claims court could get them moving. There's UK precedent for this kind of thing with the Spectrum Vega. I would hope that someone with the resources to throw $200+ at this kind of scampaign could figure out how to file a proper complaint. Of course they lack heart. They also lack brains. I guess they have a certain kind of courage, though.

Wireless Genesis/SNES controllers on eBay
Flojomojo replied to derFunkenstein's topic in Auction Central
I'd buy it just to silence you if I didn't have a Mega Sg on order. -
They could at least correct misconceptions like this. Atari SA has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything made by Atari Games, which split from Atari Corp back in 1984. Paperboy, Marble Madness, Hard Drivin' ... pretty much anything like that is now owned by Warner (who ate Midway who ate Atari Games). Andy's nice guy act totally reminds me of Overly Attached Girlfriend. Hey man, you've got some brown stuff on your nose. To say nothing of Michael Arzt, who has gone missing since his pantsing by The Register. Last seen in August 2018 by some Youtuber. Previously on Idiots Without A Clue, Fred threw him under the bus. Is he still smiling? Did he have his femur broken as well? What's his favorite taco topping? We need to know. Google is giving a presentation at 10am on March 19th. Max Ivi seems to think it will have something to do with "Atari." I think it's significantly more likely that "Atari" can't walk and chew gum and the same time, and is hoping to settle the Feargal lawsuit in such a way that doesn't make them show their apparent lack of progress. And as always, Tin Giant sleeps. My life is a very complicated drinking game. Hardware takes a while when you're doing it right.

So ugly and bland. Do not like.

Just to be totally crystal clear, nobody from "Atari" is involved except for licensing the brands?

This is one of my favorite new games with an old style. Great gameplay, controls, difficulty level, music, and graphics. Someone said it's like what we thought games would look like in the future. Looks like you fans of cartridges will be able to get a physical release soon. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/02/horizon_chase_turbo_esrb_classification_suggests_a_physical_release_is_on_the_way

Does Captain Toad require motion controls?
Flojomojo replied to digdugnate's topic in Nintendo Switch
I actually prefer it on 3DS for that reason https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-captain-toad-treasure-tracker-switch-3ds-analysis If you have both systems, try both demos and see which you prefer. The Switch version is prettier. They cost the same. -
Atari Flashback Classics for the XB1/PS4

My Vita has been languishing in a drawer for a long time. Maybe this is, along with the adapter so I can charge the thing with a standard cable, will be enough to get me to drag it out. I do like that machine. -
So much better than the dead link on "Atari"'s page. https://www.atari.com/#!/arcade/atari-promo

Free JCPenney Pac-Man T-shirt! Just add time machine.
Flojomojo replied to Random Terrain's topic in Atari 2600
I'm no economist but I'm pretty sure the inflation calculator I used is based on the Consumer Price Index, which takes cost of living as a factor. I can't say whether comparing average salaries on top of that helps or hurts the overall accuracy, but I know this with certainty: when I was 12 years old in 1982, all of this was pure unobtanium for me, and even now, as a relatively comfortable adult, I'd think twice before blowing that kind of money on these early games. -
Tommy Tallarico’s: Mean message boards (Amico)
Flojomojo replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision Amico
I'm pretty sure this topic has beeen discussed here before. :-) Most of those ambidextrous games only have one action button. The more complex the button setup, the more likely you'll want to use your dominant hand for them. Defender, for example. Or Street Fighter. I wouldn't want to play those with my right hand on the stick and left on the buttons. The idea that arcade operators wanted to make things harder is interesting, though. -
200GB microSD is $37 right now. I don't think this is a special price, but if it is, I've seen flash media this low lots of times before. 400GB is $78 which hurts a bit more, but I'm sure that will come down soon too. SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC UHS-I card with Adapter - 100MB/s U1 A1 - SDSQUAR-200G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073JY5T7T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lr-CCbK3AJ90N It will be fun to look back on this post when we have 2TB microSD at that price. You paid how much??? I know the euro version of FFX will have a download for X2, but I thought I saw someplace that they'd have a 2-card version for Japan? Or maybe that was just someone's wishful thinking.

Dumb mistake cost me games. Hope someone does not do the same
Flojomojo replied to Greendude's topic in Atari 2600
This is going to be increasingly common as people who never had the originals (or their documentation) get into older stuff. We have standard interfaces and onscreen tutorials nowadays, but it wasn't always that way. -

The phone dialer is fine. The disc is weird but OK. The side buttons are from the 9th level of hell. -

The pro controller is $70, and a set of joycons is $80. Have I cracked the code? -
All digital here, no regrets. The eshop has a lot of sales and I only pay full price when I want something at launch. Impulse buys are fine with me because it's a toy, not an investment. Trade-in value isn't something I care about. I'm the same on mobile (obviously), Xbox, and PlayStation, though I buy/play a lot less on the TV consoles. There's such a ridiculous bounty of good stuff I can't be bothered to hoard the physical games anymore. Same with books and films for the most part. It makes browsing physical retail less interesting because it's less tempting -- kind of how you feel about digital purchases. The last time I was in the transition was with Vita, prior to PSplus and where storage was stupid expensive. I have a bunch of physical cards for that which I never touch. Do what you like, like what you do.

I am not a backer so I don't know for sure, but I don't think those t-shirts were free. In fact, some European backers were complaining about getting hit with custom fees on top of what they paid for their backer shirts. At this point I'm not sure what their game is. As a PR stunt, it was modestly successful in getting the name out. As a moneymaker, I think it only looks good on paper since $3M isn't enough to do much. As a way to build up the fan base, 11,500 won't be satisfied with "exclusive" deals forever. If they plan to deliver anything they're way overdue for showing it.

Reggie Fils-Aime retiring from Nintendo
Flojomojo replied to Gamemoose's topic in Modern Console Discussion
So he's a puppet when they do things right, but solely responsible when making decisions you don't like?
