  1. I just left the Disney store which is full of stuff from my childhood like Marvel and Star Wars. My kindle is full of Batman comics, and I like talk about old video games here. Am I a nostalgic sap? Maybe, but I think giant dork probably covers it better. I do okay in the present but have an appreciation of the past too. Sounds like middle age to me.

And it would cost $200 so no one would stock it, and it would still be inferior to emulation setups we can make ourselves. Sigh
  3. Erm, all we have to do is add up MHz of many different chips now? In what universe does that make any sense? Must be from the days when we were told to "DO THE MATH."
  4. Oh jeez. That's no way to bring back anything. Booo. Machine translation: This makes it sound like the Sigfox partnership for Internet of Things is a separate endeavor. Yet another clue that Atari belongs in the 1970s, as if we needed any more proof.
  5. What's the real-world equivalent of taking the easy path by running to the left and getting all the money in Pitfall? Masters of Business Administration?

Sounds like a job for "Atari"! What you describe sounds more fun than whatever AtariBox is supposed to be. The new Flashback sounds neat, but it lacks SD card or cartridge support. The Retron 77 sounds neat, though with uncertain emulation and no SD card either. Something is always held back, which IMHO encourages piracy. Seems they'd do better by embracing it and taking a cut for themselves.
  7. Yes it's real, from early days of PlayStation vs Saturn, probably 1995 judging from the games shown. Sony didn't mention the competition anymore once it was clear Playstation sales were very far ahead.
  8. ED, there's nothing "wrong" with it. As you point out, it's a small group so the risks are greater. You have the inside perspective, I am on the outside. It's a difficult ask in the current marketplace, because of mobile competition and crowdfunding fatigue.
  9. That's a Sega Saturn style controller, but the button layout is the same. All you need is a USB OTG cable, cheap and easy. Here's a good one.
  10. Touch Arcade's RPG writer has thoughts, calls it a "disaster." This from the comments is particularly harsh
  11. If you guys had done your nerd duty and bought a Wii U like you were supposed to, we would have been playing it since 2013. https://www.polygon.com/2016/1/29/10872550/nintendo-shutting-down-wii-street-u-in-march
  12. Ah, this makes more sense now. I'm sure it's well-intentioned, but their pre-order FAQ is full of weasel words that would make me uncomfortable about supporting this project. The fact that they take Bitcoin but not PayPal is troublesome as well. Ouch.
  13. It's up now, and it looks completely different, more like the nasty-ass Coleco Toys page now. I guess they decided to migrate to a new CMS over lunch or something. Their consultant's advertising and rates are at the bottom of the page: http://www.websitesbynerds.com
  14. Agreed, I like Benj's work. Also, I like this graphic.
  15. No problem for you, obviously! Plus they have the benefit of not requiring batteries. I'd love to be able to kick back a comfortable distance from the big screen, personally. I'm not going to be sitting on the floor with a controller like I did when these games were hot and new.
  16. As a great* man once said, "DO NOT BE FOOLED" *sarcasm
  17. It looks like the same size to me. Maybe they're computing the size in a different way? Like across instead of diagonally, or counting the bezel in addition to screen space?
  18. Heh heh, when you put it that way, they almost sound like the "DO NOT BE FOOLED" idiocy of modern COLECO. I don't know who they're railing against, either.
  19. Seems that way, and I don't blame them. Why should they bother with one-time people giving them $60 when they can't make enough of their $300 console to meet demand? The latter customers will buy many more games ... and maybe THEIR kids can get a Switch Classic Mini in 30 years.
  20. Burned how? Sounds like they delivered it ... what was the problem? Too late? Something else?
  21. If you have a Nvidia-equipped PC anywhere in your place, the Steam Link is almost free right now.
  22. When the heck is a new Mac Mini coming, anyway? It's been almost 3 years since the last update, and they're getting more and more annoyingly locked down. https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac_Mini I don't share your concern over lack of optical drive, though -- rips are easy to make or find, they load faster and they're easy to store.
