If you're a backer who could actually get a unit, are you going to say "Naw, keep your VCS until Floyd and Biff can get one too?"

Well do ya want to play Jungles of Chlamydia on the VCS or not? Support the developers!

  2. Yeah, "essential" to their bottom line, maybe. I sure hope their pawn shop business takes care to sanitize trade-ins.

This is the biggest stretch imaginable:

we also offer a wide array of products and devices that are important to facilitate remote work, distance learning, and virtual connectivity.

I guess XBOX could be considered a "distance learning" tool, but this statement deserves 4 Pinocchios. Shame on them.

They used to sell productivity software. I bought my first computer modem at Electronics Boutique (forerunner of GameStop) but that was almost 30 years ago.

Backers will be delighted if (when ?) no developper announce any game for the VCS. 😑

Remember how Steve Jobs talked about how he wanted to make products that would surprise and delight their customers? Atari is halfway there with the first part. But not in a good way.

  4. I agree that seems likely, because they made a big deal about how Unity3D was all a developer should need to get on VCS.

Their latest update had lots of pictures of flawed VCS cases which they won't use, OK fair enough.  It at the end, they talk about all the conferences that will be cancelled, so the next sneak peeks at their machine will need to be online. If that's the case, why don't they show more of the thing themselves? They don't need a public, in-person show and they never did. Only posting very carefully edited short clips with no direct feed makes it seem like they don't have much to offer, even after this time.

What they aren't saying is speaking louder than words.

The remainder of our potential Spring schedule of events has now fallen prey to COVID-19, as major events including GDC, SXSW and E3 have been cancelled. San Diego Comic Con is probably next (but who knows?). Will Atari be at Pax West or New York Comic Con as we hope? This is all TBD. We are keeping our eyes out for upcoming opportunities to preview the Atari VCS with more fans, but for the foreseeable future all activity will obviously have to remain online.

That's accurate. I dropped out on 6/23/2018, NDA is up 7/23/2022

Would it cover the kinds of clashes in "management style" that Feargal referenced in his resignation letter to Fred? Us gossip girls would love for you to spill the tea on that if you have any.

  6. I like the collections. I've bought more than a few Arcade Archives standalones, though. What is there to say about them? They're old, they're fun, they're well emulated.

@Magmavision2000 if you want to read more about this kind of thing, Shaun Musgrave is the guy to follow. He writes about these kinds of things on Touch Arcade and his blog, Post Game Content regularly, and even more if you give a buck to his Patreon. He's one of the smartest game writers working today, in my opinion.

Doom 64 drops in a couple of days... my favorite Doom game. Will have some added content as well.

Thanks for the reminder -- literally 2 days!!!

We already have Turok Dino Hunter on Switch, which was also an N64 game. I keep thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have more N64 games on Switch, forgetting that these are not straight ports from ye olde console version.

While everyone is waiting, and Atari is (still) digging its hole deeper, here's an updated version of ATARI BINGO.

    "PONG is in our DNA."

I feel like most of their talking points could be handled by a bot at this point.

  9. It was on Indiegogo, and they probably sent out emails to register via BackerKit to help them with logistics.

It is late, overpromised, and underdelivered. Not finished but maybe (???) kinda close. It's hard to tell.

You could probably get your money back if you raised a big enough stink, maybe if you started with your credit card you used to make the purchase way back when. It's hard to see how it ends up doing anything but disappointing you.

Beware of big talkers who promise a lot but haven't yet delivered anything except for easily-produced printed shirts and swag. It doesn't matter how cute the case looks in the renders, or how much you want to believe the smooth-talking sales guy.

  10. 10 or 20% discount seems like a reasonable ask. It all depends on what the seller is looking for, of course.

I've never been in a selling situation where someone made a best offer on something I've put up for sale. Either it gets grabbed instantly at the Buy It Now price, or the auction runs its course and sells for a lot more than I would have gotten as a BIN.

What I generally get are people trying to make a side deal on the first day of an auction, "I'll buy this right now for $lowball" to which I always tell them, "Happy Bidding! Let's see how the auction plays out! I hope you win!" It's doubly fun to put these on the auction page so everyone can see them.
