Why do you even bother hanging out at a classic gaming site like AtariAge, if you can't stand "old, crude graphics?!?!?!?" Personally, I'm quite impressed with the polygon graphics on the 32X. I, personally, don't need my polygons to be triple-layer-bump-mapping-textures-with-real-time-lightsourcing-shadow-effects to think they are good. I like plain polygons too! I pity you...missing out on good stuff for graphics...
Please don't patronize me; I am entitled to my interest in old games as well as my opinions. There's a world of difference between:
+ crisp 2D graphics in a cleanly-designed, fun game with responsive controls, playing games that are suited to the era and the system,
and
- muddy, jumpy, poorly-rendered 3D graphics on an underpowered, transitional system.
Atari 2600 was the best in its class for a long time, and has dozens of nice games, many of which still hold up today in a minimalistic way. Other 2D games on systems like the SNES are still amazing to this day.
With very few exceptions, Sega 32X had precious little worth playing during its retail lifespan, and it certainly hasn't aged well. The few games it has are notably lacking in polish. Other 3D games which are hamstrung by a lack of computer power, as is the case with many early Playstation games, don't hold up as well.

The worst part of the Star Wars Arcade game is the total lack of 3D movement. It was like driving the space bus -- you couldn't move up or down! StarFox was on rails but at least wasn't a sit-n-spin like this.
I would still like to play the arcade game someday -- I've still never seen it.

The latest GENS can play most 32X games -- that's certainly enough for me. I'm amazed at how crude stuff like Star Wars Arcade looks now. The visuals are generally worse than the DOS version of X-Wing with VGA graphics, and Ackbar sounds like a retarded seal.
I think we're finally rounding a corner after which we'll be able to play the games of 5 years ago and not turn away in disgust at the ancient graphics. I find my N64 to still be tolerable in the age of XBOX. Can't say the same for PSX, let alone 32X.

Is Don out of cash or something? Depressed over the failed Nuon project? He's putting some cool things up on Ebay lately, and I'm just wondering why.

The old Palms were too slow for decent VCS emulation, but the new ones are close to the Pocket PC in architecture and should be able to do it.
For the record, Pocket VCS runs quite nicely on my Casio E-125.

Looking forward to this as a package -- the 80's ambience, the price, the number of ROMs -- I mean games -- included, and the prospect of having the emulation done RIGHT on the big screen are all appealing to me. I'm not sure how well it will sell, but I know I want a copy.
Is there a list of the included games someplace?

Cool, thanks for that news. IGN gave it a much higher rating on the PS2 for some reason.
I'll be getting that Activision package first, though!

Cybermorph is the big-headed retarded older brother to Rogue Leader.
I love them both.

1. It's inherently good to support legal emulation. MAME is nice, but supporting Namco is nicer.
2. Ms. Pac-Man on the 2600 is runny poo compared to the arcade version.
3. I buy packs like this whenever there is value to them -- playing otherwise unavailable games (the Arrangements), or just to play them large on my TV. So yes, many of us who aren't married to 80's hardware like these compilation packs.

Isn't Galaga 88 the same as GAPLUS?

TIE Fighter
X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter
Rogue Leader (unlock Darth Vader's TIE Fighter and be him)
see a theme here?

I had an Odyssey 2 when it was still popular, but always wanted an Atari. I managed to get one, and an Intellivision, during the big market crash. I snagged every game I could, and I never stopped. So I suppose you could say my collection became classic afterwards.

Hey Oppressor, are there still any plans to port BS to a living platform? I would think that a DirectX-based Windows PC with ethernet would give you a nice big potential userbase ...

Has anyone played the new Namco Museum on the XBOX console? I have heard good things about the PS2 version, but would prefer it on the XBOX for different reasons (hard drive saves, controls). Problem is, the only review I've seen is on IGN, and it's the usual bashing of old games.
Has anyone played it on both?

Unemployed, moving, not hauling this stuff around anymore -- too bad.
At least it's going to go into the hands of people who really want this kind of stuff.
