  1. I was using the Telstar AC Adapter....no batteries.
  2. Hi, Im not sure where to post this so I’ll try here. I recently picked up a Coleco Telstar Marksman in super condition. The unit powers up and all the buttons (Select game and Reset) and pong knobs are responsive. My problem herein is with the light gun. Whenever I plug the light gun into the telstar unit, and then turn on the power, the unit crashes into a snowy-static screen on the tv. If I remove the gun, the pong games come back to life on the screen. I checked all the male-prongs of the light gun plug with that of the circuit inside the gun and the continuity checks fine (I was checking for broken wires and broken pcb traces). The inside of the Telstar unit look fine. I’m baffled as to why plugging the light gun into the system and powering on, causes the system to crash to a snowy static screen on the tv. If any Telstar collectors know of the problem or areas I can further check, please post to this in the forum.
  3. The SAC's are great, they are the only controllers I use for my CV, surprisingly comfortable.
  4. I'v got 5-11's Component mod installed on my CV and couldn't be more happier with the results. Its truly worth the upgrade once you are satisfied with the colour adjustments. Freeking love my mod! Thanks "H"!
  5. Quite honestly, i would have just expected the seller would be bright enough to pack the box (atari) within a box, padding, peanuts, paper etc. Agreed, that's a lazy ass'd seller.
  6. Keep us in the loop, this looks like a fun game.
  7. For the love of god, i wondered what happened to the music as well......the left difficulty switch worked. Great post!
  8. This sounds great, i'd be up for a simple PCB plus label, if it keeps costs lower rather than outsourcing CV casings. If casings are available, then a simple cartridge would also be good.
  9. I thought I would give two thumbs up for 5-11under's kit. I recently purchased the video upgrade PCB and it brings new life to my CV on today's newer TV's. Definitely recommend picking one up if you decide to mod your CV for component output. 5-11under was very helpful throughout the entire purchase and installation.
  10. A.J. thanks for posting that link. Interesting. Did you remove the resistor to accomodate your LCD? Perhaps i will try this as well. With it on and off to see if there are any noticeable differences.
  11. Quick question: Why is there a 620 Ohm resistor on the TIA chip on the backside of the Atari motherboard? Its the only 1 there and it seems kinda odd? What is its function/purpose??
  12. Yup, as Leaf fans, we deserve to be on top of the mountain, even if its for a brief period of time!

  13. I'd absolutely go for a modded CV.....my Atari's are already modified, but im sure there is some demand out there.
  14. oooops, i meant Composite, sorry my mistake....too many "C"'s. Have tried a few cables on hand....still the same output. I'll tinker with it a bit more today.
  15. Hi I’ve recently come into possession of the now defunct, 8 Bitdomain, "Atari 2600 4 Switch AV S-Video" mod board. I’ve installed the mod board as per the written instructions without issues. When I play a game using the component video connection, I have full crystal clear audio, however the video on the screen appears to “flicker” or have a “wavey” interference look. The colours look fine. I don’t have a tv/source with S-Video to check and see if it works any better. I was hoping to use the component vid in this case. Has anybody got experience with this mod board in their Atari 2600 4-Switcher that they may have any suggestions on how I can fix this video flickering/wave?? Something to adjust or look for? Any suggestion(s) appreciated.
  16. Does anybody have an 8bitdomain 2600 4 switch AV mod board that they arent using or have a spare? I know this guy is out of biz, but I'd like to try that install as my soldering skills leave little to be desired. Alternatively, does anyone have a modded AV 2600 they would be willing to part with? Thanks.
  17. Painfull to watch, let's go smash thier XBOX's all to hell.
  18. Thanks for everybody's opinion, you reassured what i was thinking as well.
  19. I recently picked up a modded 2600 with both S-Video and Composite connections. I would like to try and get the best image quality as I possibly can using the S-Video connection to my tv, however, herein lies the problem, my TV only has a composite input. Question, is there an adapter to go from S-Video (connected to the modded 2600) to composite (to the tv) and more importantly, am I getting true "S-Video" signal to the TV by converting to composite or will the composite cables downgrade the original S-Video output?
  20. As a noobie in the world of the 2600 and with so many games available, what are some of the "good" games to check out and perhaps those in which i should stay away from!?
  21. Would there be any benefit in image quality by using an "in-line amplifier" to boost the RF signal from the Atari's motherboard to the TV (especially modern tv's)?
  22. Quick question(s): What is the "definitive" answer (Im sure this has been discussed ample amounts of time).......is it 'safe' to connect an old Atari 2600 to a modern HDTV (LCD/Plasma) without burn in? Realizing of course, the image will be heavily pixelated. In doing so, do most use a cable box swtich in conjunction with a Coaxial (F-type) to Female RCA Adapter? Or do some go thru a VCR and then use RCA (red/white/yellow) into the back of their tv's? One last question, would a regular RCA cable work in place of (substitute) the original RF cable? Thx.
  23. Picked up a 9V, 800 mA supply. Works like a charm! Thanks for everybody's input.
