  1. Thanks Joe, i had a brain cramp in the store and picked up the 12V. Geesh, it wasnt until I got home and realized. I will return it today for the 9V @ 800 mA. The original supply, 9v @ 600 mA did not have a mini jack extension, too bad. Thanks again for all your help folks.
  2. Thanks for the Info folks. I will err on the side of caution and not use a 12V P/S. Would a 9V, 800 mA P/S suffice?? As per Deteacher's comments, 800 mA should be fine as long as I keep the P/S @ 9V and not above.
  3. Iv'e sourced a 12V, 500 mA P/S at the local Radio Shack, however is the 12V adapter too much juice as the Atari adapter is 9V? Will the 12 V @ 500 mA suffice??
  4. My 2600 AC adapter is toast. I tried a friend's 2600 adapter and mine powered up with no probs. Therefore, im in the market for a new P/S. The Atari adapter is 9V DC, 500 mA. I have found an AC adapter that is 9V DC, however, it is rated at 600 mA. Is that too "much" power for the 2600? Will the extra boost in mA fry the board or will it be OK. If not i will have to source out a 500 mA adapter. Any advice would be appreciated regarding the 600 mA adapter. Thanks.
  5. Is it possible to remove what appears to be "coloured" marker/ink from a cartridge label? I picked up a cart recently that had white label (text) to which someone has so eloquently filled in the "white text letters" with what appears to be a coloured pen or marker. Is there anyway to remove the so-called ink/marker back to its original white condition without damaging the label? Will I be stuck with the rainbow of colours so to speak...hah... Any cleaning advice is well appreciated.
  6. Hi folks, just a quick question. When i plug in my CV P/S, after an hour of gaming or so, it makes quite the audible "buzzing/humming" noise, it gets warm, but not overly hot to the touch. Is this a tell tale sign that its about to bite the bullet? Should i be sourcing out a backup P/S? Its the Canadian type P/S, the big brick that sits on the floor. Thanks for looking.
  7. Im also wondering if the Atari CX78 joypads will work with a CV????......has anybody tried it?
  8. Oh c'mon, there's absolutely no reason why you cant compare a CV with an Atari. Let's be serious here.
  9. Wholly crap, what a feel! I picked up a WICO Command Control Bat Handle joystick today and tried it on my CV, and using a standard controller in Port 2 to select the game menu and it worked flawlessly. That stick felt sweet. Now if it only supported 2 BUTTON fire i'd be in heaven!!!!!!!!
  10. A few games worked great with that little Genny controller, other's not so good. It was so easy to get inside and clean the Genny's contacts up nicely. Yes, DoubleD, I like your creation, that's perfect, get those out in mass production for us vintage CV gamers!!! haha Im currently using a SAC, I love the ball and stick, but after a bit of gaming my left hand cramps up holding the bloody thing.....the quest continues for a working thumbpad
  11. I just recently tried experimenting with a Genesis controller on the CV, realizing that I would only have one working fire button. For the most part, it played well on a few games, other games werent as compatible. Anyhow, this is the freeking type of CV controller we need for playability. The Geny thumb-pad felt so comfortable, and for a "brief" moment in time, i was giddy with the CV!!!!!!
  12. RJ, im in Ontario. Those 7800 sticks are hard to come by, even used ones. I know they are a crappy design as well, but like you said, if you are in the right place at the right time you can find them new. I will keep looking and try the method above for cleaning the contacts, sounds good, I'll give er'
  13. Thanks for comments folks. Ten-Four, I never thought about the plastic ring needing an ajustment, The metal plate is still in tact. Moving 'up" is finicky, all other directions are fine. I agree that its a shame that some of the CV accessories were cheaply made. I picked up a CV through a private sale (not on ebay) and the guy took real good care of it, so im just lucky the console still works, although i think my PS is dying on it. RJ, i have also heard that an Atari 7800 stick also works well on the CV, but damned if i can find a new/used one on eBay without having such ridiculous shipping prices. I think my quest will be to continue to find a 7new replacement 7800 stick (alternate CX40) and us it in conjunction with a CV paddle in port 2 (to use the number pad). I just wanna play with a WORKING stick!!!!....haha
  14. OK, here's the deal. I have an awesome collection of CV games that i just cant get the full experience from becuase my CV paddles dont work! I know they were made fairly cheap, but i have cleaned the contacts etc with no luck. I have 1 working Super Action Controller which i use to play but its wonky/finicky too at times. My question(s): are there any tricks of the trade in cleaning those tiny contacts in the paddle and are there any third party joysticks out there that make use of the two fire buttons. I know the Atari joystick replacements will work with the CV but they only give 1 working fire button and some CV games require 2. Does anybody understand my conundrum?? haha HELP me to have fun again!!!
  15. I'd be all over Galaga for the Colecovision in a heartbeat.
  16. I thought about that too, using a splitter in port 1 with the 7800 plugged in with a CV joystcik. Cyber, i agree, both pads are horribly unfomfortable, but you can still get new 7800 controllers on line, whereas i think my CV controllers have seen better days (they seem to be harder to find new and are made cheap). It would be nice to get a new controller with nice response on the directional pad and fire buttons. Its damn tempting to buy a 7800 and see how she feels. Basically, i just want a new pad/stick that will actually work with a CV so i can recapture the fun of the system...haha
  17. Thanks for your input guys. Its unfortunate that the Genesis pad will only allow for 1 fire button. Cyber.....Just to confirm, are you saying that you can have 2 "working" fire buttons on the CV using a 7800 proline stick/pad? Apparently if you keep an original CV in port 2, you can use that numeric pad for game selection levels, pause etc.
  18. Question, im looking at an alternative joystick, joypad etc. to use on the CV. I know the Atari 2600, Commodore, etc will work on the CV, but I also read someplace that the Sega Genesis controllers are wired the same way?? Can anyone confirm this? I find the CV controllers are quite uncomfy and Im not super sold on the Super Action Controllers.
