PS3 consistently freezes after about 45 min
amiman99 replied to cybercylon's topic in Sony Playstation 3
I think the 7000RPM drives are hotter then 5000RPM ones. When I got my 120GB replacement drive, I made sure is the 5000RPMs. Try to put the original HD and see if this is causing problems. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I'm not using my PS3 that much, but so far no problems. I have the original 20GB with full backwards compatibility and with Linux installed. -
Yet another NEO GEO MVS in custom case. The project took around 1 year to complete. At first I did not know how I wanted to be done, should it be in cabinet, or coffee table, bar top or console. Finally I decided that I want to make console type, for space reasons. Then I had to decide how I will make it, that took forever to finalize. And last, getting all the parts and pieces. The frame is done with wood, and top and bottom plates are aluminum, painted with "flat" black enamel. The gamepad is made from very old PC gamepad. I gutted the electronics and wired it per NeoGeo pin-outs. But now it's done, my very own NeoGeo Arcade.

They convert AUI to 10BaseT, some older hubs, or older network cards use these. I use one in my Amiga and some in 2500 Cisco routers. -

I always wondered about Vintage New In Box / Never Opened games, did anyone wondered is the real game is actually in the box? I know most collectors have brand new games and never opened and are not planning to open them. There could be few scammers taking advantage of that situation. I have few games that are never opened for Jaguar, and I dont really want to open it, but I was wondering if the game is actually inside. I may actually open it. Are there any stories actually happening, anyone willing to share?

Looking to donate a PS2 setup (Systems, Games, ect)
amiman99 replied to nvrmndtheruins's topic in Wanted
I'm glad that kids were happy with the gifts. Happy to contribute. Maybe we can do that next year? -
The seller accepts returns, if your not happy you can return it. It will cost you $3-4 to ship it back. The description said discoloration, so it was noted. You could haggle for return shipping and as for feedback just don't leave any. I didn't leave feedback few times because I wasn't totally happy, but it didn't warrant Neutral or Negative. It just depends if you really want to keep it. Good luck

I'm too watching the development of Raspberry Pi, wanting to use it as an Amiga emulator, like Minimig. I think there will be 2 versions, one for $25 and other for $35.

Motorola 68881 & 68882 math co-processors...
amiman99 replied to Lynxpro's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
On Amiga side (A1000, A500, A2000, A1200), the only way to upgrade to coprocessor is using accelerator cards. Most of accelerators or CPU cards have socket for one. The Amiga 3000 has 68882 built in and Amiga 4000 uses 68040 with coprocessor built in. Most 3D rendering software would utilize one, as for games probably few. My accelerator in A1200 has a space for 68882 50Mhz, but like you said, the Ebay prices are insane, I would love to get one. -
FS: Amiga 2000 2.1 OS with HD and software
amiman99 replied to amiman99's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I have almost all All Amigas, so no space on my desk for all of them. The A1200 is my primary one. You are right with the A2091, load your game on Hd and play, no need for floppies. I actually have a A500 zorro adapter, so just for fun, I plug my A2091 HD controller to A500 and play around. Maybe someday I can build case for it. -
FS: Amiga 2000 2.1 OS with HD and software
amiman99 replied to amiman99's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
For games I recommend A500 or A1200, the A2000 is big and heavy and not too convenient to move around. A2000 is great with Video Toaster. -
FS: Amiga 2000 2.1 OS with HD and software
amiman99 replied to amiman99's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
It's been sitting here in Marketplace since Dec 23. No takers, no offers, so I tried Ebay and it sold in 1hr for $125. The Amiga is great and it runs great too. Not perfect. I have Video Toaster 2000 board too, I'm considering selling, but I need to test it in my other A2000 to see if it still works. Currently I have VT4000 in my Amiga 2000. -

Atari legal actions against emulators continue
amiman99 replied to perry_m's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I know what they are doing, that are killing the competition. This company is responsible for making emulators for Atari Inc http://www.codemystics.com/technology.shtml Why would you pay $10 to play 100 games, if you could get them for free. Most of us probably have all the games we want to play anyway. I got bunch of legal game compilations on PSP and PS2, I got them because I like the presentation and I know it will work properly. I believe that Emulators and Compilations will coexist together, but I do believe that Atari or any other publisher needs to include better games in their compilations if they want to sell more. How about "Build Your Own Compilation" option, choose any 10-20 games from the library and pay one price. In the internet era you cant remove content completely, you can make it harder to get, and this is what they are doing. -
Atari legal actions against emulators continue
amiman99 replied to perry_m's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Emulators are exempted, they should be safe. ---------------------------------------------------------------- As a result of the Register's recommendation in 2003,the Librarian of Congress decided that four classes of works should be exempted: (1) Compilations consisting of lists of Internet locations blocked by commercially marketed filtering software applications that are intended to prevent access to domains, websites or portions of websites, but not including lists of Internet locations blocked by software applications that operate exclusively to protect against damage to a computer or a computer network or lists of Internet locations blocked by software applications that operate exclusively to prevent receipt of email. (2) Computer programs protected by dongles that prevent access due to malfunction or damage and which are obsolete. (3) Computer programs and video games distributed in formats that have become obsolete and which require the original media or hardware as a condition of access. A format shall be considered obsolete if the machine or system necessary to render perceptible a work stored in that format is no longer manufactured or is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace. (4) Literary works distributed in ebook format when all existing ebook editions of the work (including digital text editions made available by authorized entities) contain access controls that prevent the enabling of the ebook's read-aloud function and that prevent the enabling of screen readers to render the text into a specialized format. -
Best looking classic computers?
amiman99 replied to deadmeow's topic in Classic Computing Discussion

FS: Amiga 500 with 1MB RAM and Power supply
amiman99 replied to amiman99's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Sold, Thank you Amiga 2000 still available. -
For sale Amiga 500 with 512KB RAM expansion for total of 1MB RAM. Comes with 1.3 ROM (Kickstart) for maximum game compatibility and power supply. The floppy drive works well and loads every game I tried. The A500 case looks like is not yellowed, as far I remember the color is same, but the power supply is big time yellowed. It does come with bottom cover, not pictured. The original video out is gray, so to play in color you need a Commodore Video monitor with cable, the A520 adapter or this one: http://amigamaniac.c...SC_adapter.html To play on VGA you will need this adapter: GBS-8220, can be found on EBAY for $30-$50. Works well with NTSC modes. You need to make a cable for that. I can put some games and "blank" disks if wanted Price $99 plus shipping USA only I also have Amiga 2000 for sale here: http://www.atariage....d-and-software/ Thank you
