I have this http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/colorsplitter , I think it does same thing. I don't have PS for it, so I'm not sure if it still works.

I got new ROMs for SFA2 AND 3, I think USA versions not EUROPE, and it looks like is working. The MSHvsSF and MvsC, and Waku Waku 7 are working also. The MSHvsSF and MvsC needs USA roms also. The main zip is EUROPE and it did not work. The Metal Slug 5 and 6 does not work, I got new ROMs also and did not work. There is one thing you need to watch out that when you first start Neo Geo games, it needs to convert them to .MVS format which takes few minutes, and there is no indication that is doing that. Then you can play and load is faster.

Neo Geo games, if they load, play real good. I say "if the load", because some Metal Slug games did not work, i dont know why. I'm thinking that if the ROM is large in size it may not load. CPS2 games, if they load, play real good too, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 just reboots he console, CPS2 games tested: Puzzle Loop 2, Darkstalkers, Armored Wariors, Megaman 2, Xmen vs SF, Super Puzzle Fighter 2, Gigawing, Mars Matrix, Alien vs Predator, they all seemed to be playable. I'm not expert in detecting any frame skip, so to me they all work fine. The system comes preloaded with 60 some games, most are CPS1 and NEoGeo and no CPS2 games, but you can load them with microSD card I can test any other game, just let me know. I hope it helps.

I got one, Not A USB, physically it looks like USB, but electrically is not. Plays GBA, cps1, cps2, NEO GEO. I kinda like it.

There is no comparison real vs emulated for 5200. The 5200 have horrible analog joystick, in emulation you will probably use digital joypad or keyboard, in real system you will use original joystick, which is not that great. So, you will get used to playing with PC joypad and say, this is not bad, but with real system you will find out how BAD the joystick is. In 7800 the joystick would not win any awards also, it's awkward to play with. Now, the games I enjoy playing on 5200 are Centipede and Missile command with 5200 trackball, it's perfect.

I think you could make it yourself, would save you time and money.

I don't think it will play backups, I have one, and its not even playing my own DVD-R movies, also this model does not support homebrew games.

Check your local Goodwill store, they always have some.

I have seen used DVD for as low as $2.00 in Pawn Shops, so honestly VHS would be worth less then that. I got bunch of VHS too, but I don't have a heart to trash them.

I need to see which one will fit my drive... Thank you for the links, it hard to navigate those websites

I know most of the Ataiage members had to replace a floppy drive belts at least once, so where would be a good place to get some? Is it cheaper just to get PC drive and sacrifices it for the good of vintage drive?

Keep A600, PCMCIA port is great for transferring sw from PC to Amiga. You can make disks on A600 and play on A500. So you can keep both

If you have an Amiga 600 or 1200 then I can help you. I made a cable from 1541 disk drive to my Amiga computer, with supplied software it works great. I like Amiga 600 and 1200, because of PCMCIA port, you can transfer files from PC to Amiga with ease. I had NO luck with PC solution. The other solution, costs about $40, sd2iec adapter. Put files on SD card, lunch sw, choose disk image, run software. http://www.nkcelectronics.com/sd2iec-boar2.html This hw works really good, got it installed internally.

Create new and fresh original game disks

I'm not familiar in IPF format (will do research later), can you convert ADF to IPF for Amiga and use this device? So how does it work? do you need original floppy drive to write the disks? or you can use PC drive? -
I have seen the MAC story, and always wanted to see Amiga story, this is why I contributed.

Opinion of VIC-20, C64 and Amiga 2000
amiman99 replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
If you want to get into Amiga, try to get A1200 model. The A1200 comes with 2.5in IDE connector and PCMCIA slot. You can use PCMCIA for file transfer with CF to PCMCIA converter, ADF2DISK software to transfer adf disk images to real floppies, or if you go all out, use WHDLoad, you can play most floppy games from HD. There are so many possibilities. -
Opinion of VIC-20, C64 and Amiga 2000

Amiga 2000, it's basically HUGE Amiga 500 with Zorro slots. All will come with at minimum 1MB RAM, 7MHz 68000 CPU, you can add 8MB more with an expansion board. I think A2000 is easiest Amiga for upgrades, like more ram, bigger CPU, CDROM, Hard Drive, ethernet, Video Toaster, graphic cards etc. If you have space, you can play all A500 games on it. -
I had 1 port bad in mine, the joystick would always go left-right, but no up-down. So, the story goes, the chip that controls the input is the POKEY chip according to the schematics. I got one POKEY chip from Ballblazers for A7800. De soldered the chip from cartridge and replace it in Atari 5200.

This is why I buy games that I actually want to play. I see a lot of people here that complete the collection and then want to sell it, because it's no fun any more, no thrill of hunting down a rare game. This is why, sometimes, you need to rip out that plastic out of the sealed game and PLAY it . Good luck on your sale.

Few years back I made a Dreamcast CD with Neo Geo CD emulator, I did not tried this recently, but it was able to play original Neo Geo CD games, and "copies" too. So unless you want the console, I would try Dreamcast first.

What's your oldest email address you still use?
amiman99 replied to nathanallan's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Mine is from 1996 using dial up on my Amiga 1200 computer with 28.8 Modem with .42bis or something like that, from a local provider. I'm still using it, I can believe that they are still in business.
