What's the cheapest model of ST for gaming?...
amiman99 replied to ataridave's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
STFM has RF video output on RCA connector, and composite out from 13PIN connector. You need special cable to get composite out. You can get them sometimes from EBAY or you can make one yourself. I found a good source for that special connector and is cheap too. -
WOW, Amiga core is working nicely. I wonder how it compares to Minimig?

Amiga 1000, most are 512k, so the library is limited. I have a "Deep Space" by Psygnosis for 512k Amiga, it's free for you if you wanted. Disk only. Just tested it on A500, seems to be working.

It's like someone would say "I have a puppy for sale, if it's not sold then I will kill it". Out off kindness you will buy the puppy, but this is not a puppy, so I'm not sure what is the purpose of that message.

Just came across this auction on Ebay for Amiga 3000 eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160577365176with this description "This is the third time that I have listed this computer. If it does not sell this time, it will be destroyed!" . By advertising that the machine would be destroyed if it doesn't sell, is just childish. I'm not sure if anyone will try to purchase it from this seller. He will sell it for $250 + $90 shipping (I got mine shipped for $30 by FedEX) , if not it will be destroyed In my opinion, this is not the smartest way to sell your gear Any thoughts?

Anyone know what i should pay for a Commodore Plus 4 in a box?
amiman99 replied to NoleOne's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Got mine for $6 at Thrift Store, looks like new in a box. I have seen some good DEMOS for it. -
As an Amiga user, I would recommend Amiga 1200 as your #1 choice. 1. Can play WHDload games fine from HD, can use flash drive as a HD replacement, 2. Easy transfer floppy images from PC to Amiga via PCMCIA port using PCMCIA-CF adapter 3. Composite, RF and RGB video output, 4. AGA graphics, can play AGA games 5. Can be modded with internal CDROM drive 6. 2MB RAM stock, need to expand if using WHDLOAD I love mine and is the only one that is ready to fire up on my desk. Good luck

Dreamcasts (what are they worth these days?)
amiman99 replied to eseles's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
There are a lot of emulators for Dreamcast, from Amiga to MAME. I have 2, one to play, other for spare. Got spare one for $5.00. Awesome machine, can even play SID music from C64. Easy to make and burn CDs, no MOD chip required. There are worthless to some, but gold to others. -
I think this Laptop is ARM based and runs Windows CE, or some variant of Packet PC OS. I was going to buy something like that, but I changed my mind and got P4 from Pawn Shop. Might be nice to play with....

Another cool idea, I may consider building it.

ST/etc to VGA adapter/cable.. _for color_?
amiman99 replied to skeezix's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Does medium res work also? Id love to find a good 1040STF->LCD color cable setup. I got the monochrome cable which works great. dont get too exited, you still need the above RGB to VGA converter. The problem with my converter is that it needs CSYNC, which ST does not have. I will try med resolution tonight, but I think it worked last time I checked. Another note is that if you want to play PAL games, it does not work. -
ST/etc to VGA adapter/cable.. _for color_?
amiman99 replied to skeezix's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I just tried the resistor method to get CSYNC and it works fine and solid. There is another way to combine sync with xor gates but is not working for me, it jumps every 1s or so, not very stable. Here are some pics... -
Altex sells 9DBM connectors with housing, for a cable you could use a Ethernet cable which contains 8 wires, you can get them in many colors. You can get many different types of 9DBM connectors, crimp on ribbon, solder, or crimp on pins.

Let's see... Table - $75 Gas to get table $20 Arcade joystick $20 Arcade buttons (they light-up when ON) $15 Namco All-in-one games $30 Monitor was free, you can get it on EBAY for $15-25 Speakers were free, common PC speakers Composite to VGA converter $38 Power strip $10 aluminum Edge $10 Extra wood for the bottom $10 Misc screws, nails, hinges, magnets, I'm not sure 5V DC power supply for the game, free from wireless adapter Black paint, $3 for a sample. Now.. the viewing angle is not that great, but I'm not playing it that much. When a Galaga bug comes on me, then it's ready for auction. There are others who make arcade tables from IKEA, just type "IKEA arcade table" in google under pictures search, you'll see.

Anyone know where I could find a Doom controller overlay?
amiman99 replied to A_Locomotive's topic in Atari Jaguar
How about a photocopy, you can then print it and cut it out. http://gamesdbase.com/Media/SYSTEM/Atari_Jaguar/Overlay/big/Doom_-_Atari.jpg -
ST/etc to VGA adapter/cable.. _for color_?
amiman99 replied to skeezix's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
This arcade CGA-VGA converter "GBS 8200 CGA/EGA/YUV TO VGA converter" works OK in ST, not the best and requires some mods. So far I got it working on Amiga (60 Hz only), STe and NEO GEO MVS. The problem with this converter is, if the input refresh rate is other then 60Hz, then the output will get frozen. So PAL games are out of question. The major problem with ST video output is the sync. I had to create composite sync CSync from HSync and VSync. I have seen few ways getting CSync from ST. I only tried one of them. You could extract CSync from Composite video out using one IC, but that only works with STM or STFM models. If I could get proper video connector. I could play with it some more. -
What's the cheapest model of ST for gaming?...
amiman99 replied to ataridave's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Cheapest would be 520STFM or even STM with external drive, make sure you get it with double sided disk drive, but I would go with 1040STFM with built in drive. If you want to play Robotron, maybe go with Atari 7800 with double joysticks
