It would be nice to see some new games appear on the INTV. I know its harder to program for this console, but it has hardly been pushed to its limits Playing games like Thunder Castle and Tower of Doom are proof of what the INTV is capable of, and surely much more. What ever happened with Lunar MP and Castle? They looked so excellent and fun, but it has been 7 years now Even the Spirit Demo by Arnauld Chevallier was promising of what INTV could be pushed to. And then there was INTY OS, but that has also been a few years. Is there currently any homebrew happening for the system, or have all the big programmers for the Inty gotten to busy?

I think the real word is *used* to be puritanical about sex. Haha, have you watched TV lately? Looked at billboard? Opened a magazine? Watched a commercial? Even Disney? Sex is everywhere. This country is not prudish about it, it is APE-ish about it. We are like chimpanzees, everything has to be full of violence, explosion, and naked chicks.. I was born in the wrong century.

Final box art for Intellivision Lives! on DS
jeremysart replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I felt the same way at first, but if you think about it, they are trying not to just target us INTV fans, but all generations, and a "space invader" (or its clone in this case) is a good icon to represent classic games. At least the running man is on the cover too. -
The Prettiest Looking Game System Ever!
jeremysart replied to 4Ks's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmm, this is a hard one, because there aren't many that I don't think are pretty to look at (with the action max as an exception) As for prettiest, I have to say the INTV System III imo. Its got that look that is a cross between classic and modern. Big and boxy, but black, glossy, with the silver panels.. its a nice sleek looking machine to keep on display. I think the Colecovision is a close runner up for the same reasons, I just think the INTV looks a little more slick. And in order descending Atari VCS 2600 (any model except the Jr.) For on the the first real gaming consoles ever, it looks really nice, and you cant help but to feel nostalgic when you look at it. NES (toaster model) This one seems to be love/hate, but personally I like its design, which was attempt to match the late 80's American "hi-fi" look of entertainment center appliances. I absolutely hate having to push the carts down like a VHS tape, but it also gives off the same nostalgic vibe that the VCS makes me feel. Other than that, the 5200/7800 are pretty slick, and the model 1 Genesis with Sega CD and the Master System adapter with the hue card slot plugged in top looks pretty cool too, also has that cluttered hi-fi look like its going to transform into something. I don't necessarily thing the GBA SP is the nicest looking, but I certainly do find it to be one of the most comfortable handhelds I have ever owned. The NES special edition one is pretty cool looking too. -
Final box art for Intellivision Lives! on DS

Agg, they NEED to give a release date, I am getting impatient.. and Virtual Play Games "official" website is very un-promising. You cant click on anything, there is no info, and a dead picture link.. As for the games, if there are "over 60" as they say, I am sure some of our favorites will be in there Long as they got Thunder Castle, Tower of Doom, and either of the AD&D games, or Minotaur as they renamed it, I'm good to go! As for classics, I am sure we'll see Thin Ice, Astrosmash, Snafu, Utopia, Shark Shark and hopefully some of the Imagic games. -
Whoa, lets not be calling the Colecovision a peice of garbage please. To answer some questions, no, Colecovisions were not built to be the most durable. Where it is much easier to find a working VCS 2600 in the wild, you will have a harder time finding a working Colecovision. A lot of them have the similar problem to yours, when you load a game you get a scrambled image. My childhood Coleco does this, and when the game does load, your character is forced to move left only.. yet I have tested the controllers to work just fine on my ADAM, and another working Coleco console I found in the wild. But these problems did not go un-noticed.. Coleco, like Microsoft, did make an effort to refurbish consoles, and infact, its not all too rare to come across a Colecovision in a box that has "REFURBISHED UNIT" printed across it. Most of these problems are pretty easy to fix, there are guides online, and people in this forum who provide this service. Now back on topic This is an idea I would like to get people interested in: A new console, with a chip set just poweful enough to emulate Coleco & ADAM, Intellivision & ECS, and VCS 2600. It would have two DB9 ports, a usb slot for a pc keyboard, and a mock-up cartridge slot sheild (like the door to the coleco cart slot) but with an SD chip slot in it. It could come with two wireless controllers, a square joystick with two fire buttons, and a detachable keypad with side buttons for playing Coleco and INTV games. This machine would be possible (I was emulating these same systems on my computer back probably 10 years ago, so I am sure an inexpensive processor is readily available to do the job.) and inexpensive for the most part (not having to produce an INTV on a chip). It could even just allow emulation of CV and INTV, but have an actual cart slot for 2600, as "AOAC" exists already.. unless certain copywrites would prohibit the production of such a product.

Haha, funny thing is I actually had a woodgrain 13 inch knob style tv, but I had to get rid of it because the cable jack broke off from the inside and the sound went too. But I was lucky enough to get an "HD" flat tube TV. So I can hook pretty much anything up to it and it looks good, unless it was supposed to be wide screen. Either way, its all about prefference. Personally on my 780i HD, I think the VCS, Inv and CV look pretty good. Its the "inbetween" systems that look bad, like PS1, N64, and Saturn.. they look really blurry and glitchy. Off topic, running an N64 emulator on my new HD laptop, and the games look way better than any tv I have ever played on because it somehow tightens up the resolution on the textures and makes the polygons nice and crisp. This is running PJ64 on an HD Compaq widescreen laptop with full screen streched mode too.

Your right, I forgot they are both Z80 based. Yes! Thats exactly what I am trying to say. I dont want a plug n' play controller, but a small console that emulates the three systems, has DB9 ports, and has a flash slot or USB. That would be possible to do at a lower cost, and I am positive that it would be profitable. Making controllers (to sell separate or come with) that replicate the CV or Intv feel, if the original controllers could not be used, would not be too hard either. It would be the same principal as mapping a 16 button joystick using an emulator (I currently use a 12 button playstation like gamepad to map Intv & CV controller functions).

Final box art for Intellivision Lives! on DS

Been waiting too long for this. Can't wait!! Have they listed a final release date? I thought it was supposed to come out mid June -
It would be nice to see a system like the FC3 but with VCS/INTV/CV cartridge ports, but its never going to happen. Manufacturer's like Hyperkin always reply to the idea as there would not be enough profit involved to work on something that would be so compicated and costly to produce. And that is understandable. But if it were possible, not just to get the games to run on Genesis hardware, but to get the games to run on a console like this (retron 3) with DB-9's, so that we would be able to play with the actual original controller, but not risk using the hell out of my aging consoles. I mean, you can always get a USB Atari joystick.. but surprisingly there is still yet to be an alternative for those who love Colecovision and Intellivision.. and that surprises me because DB-9 is so simple and readily available for purchase. One does not necessarily have to reverse enginere an Intellivision to make an expensive console and manufacture new cartridge ports, but rather just a system that emulates (with a program like Nostalgia or BlueMSX) and allows you to load ROM's by flash or USB, and has DB9s so you can use the actual controller..... or at least make a friggen' joystick similar to an INTV/CV with a keypad!! Its got to be done dammit!

The Jetsons Ways With Words
jeremysart replied to IntellivisionDude's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I loved playing this game as a kid! One of the reasons I do regret selling my ECS.. At least you can utilize keyboard emulation with Nostalgia It really is a fun, and actually somewhat nice looking game to this day. -
If you dont think Genesis hardware is powerful enough to emulate VCS or INTV, what would make you think Coleco would be possible? But if not direct emulation, perhaps some of the better games could be ported (similar to how OpCode and Colectorvision are porting classic arcade titles to the CV) to the Geneis and used in a flash cart with a "VCS/INTV/CV controller rom patch" to emulate the classic controllers. There has got to be a way to get those games onto this console and make use of its DB9 pinouts.

There are plenty of "retro" console remakes out there between yobo, retrobit and hyperkin etc. But the new one by Hyperkin really has me wondering about the possibility of a truly all-in-one console. If you have not seen the Retron 3 by Hyperkin, you should check it out. Its similar to the FC3 by Yobo, but this one has in addition to two wireless controllers, 2 NES ports, 2 SNES ports, and 2 DB9 (Genesis) ports. http://hyperkin.com/index.php/retro-system-retron-3.html It's the fact that it has DB9 pin outs that has me wondering.. is it possible to get Atari 2600, or even Intellivision or Colecovision games to run on Sega Genesis hardware? Since all of these consoles use DB9, if there was a way to emulate, port, or even convert ROM images to be used with or read as a Genesis game, you should also be able to use the actual controllers for the systems and hence have a console that can play VCS, INTV, Coleco, NES, SNES and Genesis games, all using the original controllers. THAT would be really nice. With all the homebrew, reverse engineering, emulating, and console flash cartridges going on these days, it seems like a good possibility, just thought I'd throw the idea out there. I'm sure it would be some hard work, but the tools are there and it would definitely be a project worth working on.

What game have you spent the most time with?
jeremysart replied to TwinChargers's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hehe, at least I'm not the only one.. the answer is DOOM.. on various platforms (SNES, PSX, GBA, PC, N64) I remember being blown away by DOOM on the SNES having never seen the game prior, or anything like it on the SNES.. and the being blown away again just a couple months later when I found a shareware copy of it at a store and installed it on our 386 IBM machine. Aside from DOOM, in this order: Atari 2600: Mario Bros. Intellivision: Thunder Castle and Dragon Fire NES: Super Mario 3 and Kirbys Adventure SNES: Yoshi's Island & DK Country PC: Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake I and Quake II (which I rediscovered after buying Quake IV for 360)+ expansion packs and user created levels N64: Mario Kart 64 (skipped a couple generations due to lack of interest in the games of the era) 360: Fable II Next up I see it being Red Dead Redemption, Fable III, or Donkey Kong Country Returns. All time contender will always be DOOM. After all these years, its still has so much to offer! -
Anyone play Mushroom Kingdom Fusion?

Hmm, well if your not convinced, check out this video. Its not just a clash of old school 90's games, they also touch Atari and Intellivision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qG_iwWzOJw -
If you are a fan of retro games, all I have to say is, your going to LOVE it! You'll get a good preview in the video, but it is worth the download for sure. They have all the good classic games fuzed into one, and it actually works. At first glanse, it appears to be a game hack, or one of a dozen fan made Mario games, but after exploring a few levels, you will soon find a team of developers put a great deal of effort and time into this, including all of the playable characters signurature moves, combined with powerups of other classic gaming heroes (ie megaman + mario fusion, or Sonic + Marios Tanookie Suit) To make this game more fun, I highly suggest downloading Joy to Key so you can enjoy this retro creative aweseomness with a controller. http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/2/I/JoyToKey/JoyToKey.htm The actual page to download the game is here http://mkfusion.ipbfree.com/index.php?&act=ST&f=4&t=7419 and they have their own channel too http://www.youtube.com/user/MKFusionTeam Right now I am playing as Megaman Mario, running through the world of Ghosts and Goblins.. this game is ridiculous nostalgic fantastic.

Yikes, sorry to hear. Commando is NOT a game you want freezing on you If it keeps happening, you can always play the Intellivision port

Really anytime you purchase off of eBay you are taking a considerable risk. Its always good to check their feeback score, but even that is not a guarantee. I have bought things in the past that were "as is" and it work, but I have also had vice versa happen. Just thought I'd post it up since these only pop up on eBay about once or twice a year.

what innovations has nintendo really brought the industry?
jeremysart replied to xg4bx's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Come on! That argument makes no sense. Philips does not make games or game consoles, not since the 80's. Milton Bradley and Parker brother, same deal, long gone out of anything to do with video games. IBM is a computer company, not a gaming or home console company.. and they werent making video games or computers in 1896, trust me. I think were talking about the longest runner up in the gaming industry.. that is also still alive and well, making games. And the side buttons on the ping pong controller, and the shoulder buttons on the SNES controller: Two completely different things. -
The box has a little bit of damage, but everything else looks very clean, almost brand new looking. Looks like it had all of the original pack in it came with as well. I would get it myself, but I already have an ADAM and I need to get my transmission on my car fixed. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190410988509

what innovations has nintendo really brought the industry?
jeremysart replied to xg4bx's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmm. Well how about Pokemon? Thats Nintendo right? Havent seen a phenomenon like it since. Not that hypnotizing children into needing trading cards and merchandise is revolutionary, but to be honest, havent seen anything as big as Pokemon since it died out a few years ago. And it has been attempted (Yugio, Bakugan, sp? ) but failed pretty bad. I never personally got into it myself, never owned one of the Pokemon games nor did I trade cards.. just saying though. But when all is said and done, it comes down to this: After 1983, consumers were afraid of buying any new video games or consoles, and retailers were afraid to sell them. But Nintendo found a way to revive the market and create new competition. You have to give them credit for that. All of their products may not be "revolutionary" or original, but they sure did revolutionize the gaming industry. Infact, it is also because of Nintendo that Sony tapped into the market with their PlayStation (which was originally going to be the Super Nintendo Play Station). Im not trying to glorify Nintendo, but I do believe they deserve respect. Their first party titles rock, and they made my childhood more fun that it would have been. I give credit to games like Kirbys Adventure, MegaMan, and Super Mario 3 for opening up my creativity more as a young artist too. I think Nintendo is just that, creative, and good at marketing. -
Mario Bros (ColecoVision) READY TO SHIP! ***
jeremysart replied to retroillucid's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Yeah, true story. I grew up with Colecovision and Atari, and a little over year ago after getting settled into my new place and figuring out my finances, I started collecting again. Although none of my friends really even knew what an Intellivision or a Colecovision was (I always made them play any new games I bought though). I had heard of Homebrew at the time, but never looked too deeply into it until I saw Colecovision and Mario Bros. in the same sentence! I'm pretty glad I found these forums too, so I have friends here I can converse with about "the old times", and share new findings, ask question etc. Not to mention most of us here are from an older generation so theres more honor and politeness in these forums than some others I had been to before. (I spent one week in the Nintendo forums to realize almost everyone there were pricks!) And now I can play Homebrew, and even better, make box art for it So it was pretty cool getting my copy of Mario Bros in the mail yesterday, not to sound corny, but thinking of all the friends I have made, all the things I have learned and conversations had between hearing that you were working on Mario Bros and finding AA, and finally getting my own copy. -

Not on the PC.. but for 1991 how about Starblade? Also Solvalou was along the same vein. p.s. I love SNES Starfox by the way. Still one of my favorite games and I even prefer it over Starfox 64. I had no idea Starblade was released on the SegaCD, and recently on Virtual Console. I'm going to give this game a whirl later. -

Off topic, but this entire thread is one reason I love Atariage. We can "argue" or disagree with/ pick apart what someone says with out being rude or complete smart asses. Not too many people here get offended or use foul mouths or flaming. Hope it stays that way
