  1. I just got my copy of Mario Bros and Penguin Land today! Super job on both the games!! Mario Bros is a blast, just like I expected. I am having a good freind of mine come over tomorrow who is also a classic gamer, so I am sure we will play it for hours. Everything about it is great, I love how you can "insert credit", and the intermissions and tutorials were a neat plus. This is certainly better than any official port I have seen. I just love the red cart and the box, it looks so great! I havent been this excited to recieve a package in a long time. One thing, Mario Bros wont work in my ADAM, just the Colecovision. I cant wrap my head around why Penguin Land is great too, love the music. And its not an easy game either, its a nice challenge! Anyway, that Mario Bros box is going into a small shadow box to hang on the wall I love it so much! You know, funny thing.. Mario Bros. for Colecovision is the ENTIRE reason I found Atariage (searching google for the original Mario Bros box art and info), and now I have been here a year with almost 800 posts
  2. Wow, about my last reply, I have no idea how it ended up in here? That was a reply to a completely different topic. Anyway, I would DEFINITELY like to buy one of these. I have been looking for a hard drive and 5 1/4 disk drive for my ADAM for a while, and this is a MUCH more practical solution. Not to mention it would make it much easier to transfer disk and ddp images. Cant wait to hear more about this and see what new things come up once some Coleco/Adam developers get this bad boy.
  3. http://coleco.freeservers.com/proddes.htm#supplies I was thinking about buying a few things for my ADAM, namely ADAMs Desktop, a 5 1/4 drive, maybe one of the hard disks and some software. Has anyone had any dealings with ADAM's House recently, or at all?
  4. That video is so ridiculous, I cant follow it. maaan.
  5. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 400132382032 Basically, its an Intellivision controller for the Colecovision. Hmm.
  6. Much agreed, Space Invaders on the VCS has an awesome rythm to it. I love the sound of the UFO
  7. Hey, consider yourself lucky you can even find anything Atari in your local thrift shops; I almost never see anything Atari except the occasional Combat or Pacman cart! That was 2 years ago when i found the h6, there's nil at the thrift shops since, anything good anyways. It's all common games, and Sega Genesis consoles and games by the dozen. Thats all I ever find at thrift stores are Sega Genesis and Playstation 1's and their games. Never really anything good.
  8. What the hell! You better get that!
  9. Lol, thats funny because I was at the dollar store the other day and noticed a bottle of body was with the computerized looking Intellivision font, it was even in green lettering. I almost got it just for that reason. I'll try to get a picture if I csan some time.
  10. I wouldnt be too surprised to see VR make a come back in the next few years. With 3D screens hitting the market, and now even in a handheld console like the 3DS, mix that with motion sensing capabilities like head tracking, and give me a headset, and you are litterally in the game. Cant wait!
  11. Love the quote! And its so true. If I didnt leave my paints, brushes or markers all over, well it would take half an hour just to get ready to work on something. Good work by the way, the green LED is a neat and unexpected touch!
  12. Heh, that sounds like one of my fantasy worlds. You might like my art in that case (link in my sig). Its not an Atari game, but I have a feeling you would love Beat Trip, look it up on Youtube! Two of my favorite games for the VCS are poor suggestions for Bleepy goodness, as the sounds (in Mario Bros and DK Jr) are ear rapingly terrible. I always liked the sound fx in DigDug, and Pheonix especially.
  13. The touch screen, not so innovative, but I do enjoy the motion and tilt control. Never said it wasnt done on other systems, but rather its the highlight of the system and lots of fun. If it werent for the motion control, I dont think I could get my family to sit around the tv and race, play darts or shuffle board with their unique avatars (mii's or whatever you want to call them) Most of the Wii games I have bought were close to $20, and not bad shovel ware crap either. The only titles I spent more for were New Super Mario Bros, Twilight Princess, and Mario Kart, which were still well under what new PS3 or 360 games cost. $35 retail is pretty decent even, I'll be a lot quicker to buy a game for 35 than 60. As far as PC or older consoles, thats sort of drifting off topic, we were focusing on the Wii and newer consoles. Your comment was relevent, but I was talking about how I can get family and friends of all ages to play on the Wii, thats not going to happen with a PC. I love older consoles, I am a classic gamer, I own pretty much every console from the VCS up to now, and I do collect games for them, but thats beside the point. I didnt say "hardcore", I said core, which refferes to those that care more about graphics, hardware, and adult games such as modern warfare. The Wii generally is more for casual gamers, not to say that there arent casual games on other consoles, or more violent/adult games (no more heroes) on the Wii.. See, now thats where you are wrong. I dont know if you remember how much computers were back in 1992-94, but our SNES was only $160 when we got it in 93, packaged with Super Mario World and All Stars. Our family could not afford a $900+ PC. To run Doom on a PC, you must at least have at least a 386 and a VGA graphics card with at least a 256 color depth. When Doom came out in 93, most people were still running 286's that either had no hard drive, or very little hard drive space, cga or monochrome video. Its kind of like the misconception that most people own HDTV's and blueray right now.. when 70% of people still use CRT and DVD.. And even if you had a computer capable of running it, unless you had a top of the line PC at the time, you were probably running it in fairly low resolution anyway. Although the SNES Doom is low res and pretty slow, it does still offer all the original enemies, weapons, powerups, and all three un-altered episodes including the secret levels. Plus the music was pretty rad (another issue with the PC.. you also had to buy a soundblaster or compatible if you did not own a new pc or your low end pc did not come with a sound card.. and boy playing with PC speaker sounds is less than desirable.) I knew I should have specified, that by "real 3D experience", I was not counting vector line graphics, or faux 3D space harrier style rail shooters. I was talking about shaded and or textured polygons in mostly 3D rendered environments, and not shrunk down to 1:4 the screen size so that it runs smoother. The frame rate in Doom may be chuggy and unbearable to some, but not at all in Starfox. Also, how is Mode7 not 3D? Have you played F-Zero or Hyperzone? Though the math may not technically be "3D", the environments are in a 3D perspective, that can be moved about freely, textured, and objects have actual depth and can move infront or behind, above and below you in space. And again, we are talking about consoles not PC's, and most of the argument for Nintendo is about bringing things to the masses at reasonable prices. Not everyone could afford a PC at the time. Super FX games generally cost $60, the rest were same as today, between $30 and 50 depending on the type of game and popularity. Anyway, I do get and understand most of what you are arguing, and by all means I am not a person who talks like "Thou shalt not smite thy Nintendo game gods".. im not like that about any console or company.. I just tend to stick up for Intellivision and Nintendo in generally because they both get picked on a lot of the time for no reason, or people like to point out every possible flaw or downside, when there are lots of gems on the systems.
  14. It's not side-splitting funny but was worth a chuckle. Geez dude lighten up. Have a glass of milk, or take a nap or something. Way too intense over such an insignificant topic. Lol! Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. There are some nice looking games on the VCS, but there were just as many horribly blocky games. But seriously, some people need to pull the stick out of their ass and be nicer.
  15. Why so much hate for Nintendo? Its not like they are just popping out and saying "Look at us, we invented videogames!". Calling Nintendo the creater of anything, or master of innovations, is the same as saying the 2600 was the first home game console, or that all of their products were innovative. Just like Atari (in the beggining anyway) Nintendo found a way to take something that was sort of in the dark, and shine a big ol' spot light on it. Did they come up with motion control? No. Did they come up with touch screen? No. Did they come up with 3D? No. Were they innovative about it? Yes! They took technology that was otherwise forgotten about, and made advances on it, and found innovative ways a way to make it fun, not just for core gamers, but EVERYONE. The Wii for example is the first gaming console my mom and dad have touched since Atari. Family members that never owned a console before have a Wii in their home. Not only did they make it fun for everyone, they also made it affordable for everyone.. I can regularly pick up Wii games for under $20.. we can go to our basement and play pool, go to the movies, or have a bbq with friends and have tons of fun without breaking the bank, but we were also able to purchase a wii, extra controllers and chargers plus several games over time without breaking the bank, and having just as much fun because there are games we both enjoy playing together, and a hand full of games we can play with family and friends (game party for example). Its really a matter of taste in then end. Anyone can dig on anything and say someone else did it first, but if your a core gamer, chances are you would rather play a Sony system and say Nintnedo sucks. But for me, a casual and classic gamer, its about the first time I popped in Kirbys Adventure or Super Mario Bros. 3. It is about bringing home the SNES and opening it up to see Super Mario Allstars AND World in the box, and making my way through Special World. It was about experiencing 3D in my home for the FIRST time, saving Corneria from the evil Andross, and beating all 3 episodes of Doom without having to purchase a high end computer, or all the memories of blasting friends in Goldeneye 007 on the 64, collecting 118 stars in Super Mario 64, or endless hours playing Mario Kart 64. THATS what Nintendo has done for me and many millions more. Also, as mentioned above, Nintendo brought the real 3D experience home first with the SNES and games like Mario Kart, Star Fox, F-Zero, Hyper Zone, and Doom. And the cartridges that had to use the FX chip werent $100 like virtua racer.. I think thats pretty innovative.
  16. I'll keep an eye out, I need a few things for my Adam.
  17. I swear to god I almost bought that a couple months ago. The ONLY think that prevented me from buying it was how dirty it looked. Looked like someone melted crayons on it, then stuck it in moldy shed for 20 years. Man. My loss.
  18. I grew up with the VCS, my dad actually won our first 2600 from some sort of contest. I had a blast playing games like Frogger, Megamania, Mrs. Pacman, Kangaroo, Space Invaders, and Mario Bros. But I remember going to a garage sale with my mother, and to my surprise, I huge box with this big black video game system, bunch of games, and the expansion module. To say the least, playing DK on the VCS for years, I was BLOWN AWAY when I popped in the CV DK, expecting something similar to what I seen on the Atari. I also had a lot of fun playing Mr. Do (still one of my favorite CV games.) Hell, my in my art studio, I have a little computer dest set up JUST for my ADAM, which currently has Antarctic Adventure in the cart slot, my favorite game by far on the CV. I am also pretty fond of DK Jr. Now I am just waiting for my copy of Mario Bros. and Penguin Land, and working on boxart for CV homebrew, something I never imagined I would be doing 20+ years later
  19. It was well done! I want this for my CV lol. The dumb kid trying to argue it was real by saying he found it in his uncles shed or whatever kind of ruins it though. I cant stand compulsive liars, I just dont understand it, lying about something ridiculous will not make you cool or popular, it will just make you a middle schooler.
  20. I dont know, I have to admit, I would like to see one. I owned a Game.com back in the day, once it hit like $10, I got the pocket one. But I never owned any games for it, just stuck with Solitare, and used it to store phone numbers. I have always been curious, even if terrible, to play Duke 3D, Sonic Jam, RE 2, and Williams Arcade games. There is a certain charm to bad systems (except the action max).
  21. I guess I have just been lucky then, because I have ordered a few consoles, including Intellivisions and a Sega Saturn, never had a problem. Just the monitor incident. Until I can find another 5151 I'll have to just use an HDTV oddly enough.
  22. Yeah, you can trade in a used white wii at the used trade in rate and put it towards a new black wii. Or you could just wait until they have referb or used black wiis and get a better deal on the trade in. That video was great btw
  23. fixed. Heh, when I first seen "fixed" with my reply quoted, I thought it was going to be something smart ass. But I fully agree with that fix, and I'm glad im not the only one aswell that thinks Kirbys Adventure is the best NES game (right along with SMB3!). Well hopefully they still release a real Kirby rehash sometime soon.
  24. I ordered an IBM 5151 monochrom monitor for my IBM 5150 that came shattered to bits because it was packed like shit (just a bunch of ripped up newspaper and some other garbage non packing material.) Even worse, I was polite when I contacted them, twice, but thet never got back to me and I had to file a claim and so lost out on shipping. When I send stuff out I always wrap it in bubble wrap, then newspaper, and pad it with peanuts. Its the way to go. As for UPS, unless you are selling with high shipping costs, you will lose out on a lot of money having your goods packed and shipped by them. When I shipped out my Intellivision collection, it cost me $35 to pack it myself, and print my own UPS shipping label, where as when I brought it in, they were going to charge $80 to pack and ship (from MI to AZ).
