  1. My first computer was in 1988, the Intellivision ECS.. as if that counts, hehe. But really it was the Atari 400, which I never used as a computer, just played Star Raiders, Dig Dug, and Pac-Man all day.. We eventually got an IBM 5150 with MS-DOS 3 when I was about 10, later upgrading to the IBM PS2 386 with Windows 3.1 I miss those days of installing new sound blasters and upgrading to VGA graphics.. WOW! You have a 5 gig hard drive!?
  2. MS-DOS 6 on a Heathkit with two 5 1/4 drives. Also had a lot of fun with Windows 3.1 on my IBM PS2. Or how about CP/M on the Coleco Adam, while surfing the BBS on your baud modem?
  3. I meant to put in my last reply.. I think it would also be neat if they utilized the touch screen as the UMD. It would be fully possible for the 3DS to process the 3D and double screen, as the polygon count and resolution can always be reduced un noticed due to the small screen. DC games were made to be played on a 20 inch av. screen, so no one is going to notice the changes that are made when its ported to a 3.5 inch screen.
  4. Wow, thats sad. Well thats at least video gaming in the world of Sony and MS
  5. I have to agree with you there. Up until I seen footage of the 3DS I was pretty skepticle and certain I would not buy into it. But now I am kinda psyched.. Star Fox 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time with enhanced graphics and in 3D? Sweetness. And it looks like they might come out with a NSMB title as well from the tech demo. I am just worried that Donkey Kong Returns is not going to bring back any of the baddies from the original. I seen no Klumps Kritters or Klaptraps.. just those goofy tiki masks that feel kind of impersonal.
  6. Noone ever answers this question. I would just like to check out Sonic and Duke 3D just for shits and giggles.
  7. There are a lot of people voting on DC, but I highly urge not getting the DC since you are on a budget, and probably want to be able to own a handfull of great games at a low cost. The DC is a great system, and has a love/hate thing going on. *Most* people who talk about them have loved them from the start, and the games are slightly more expensive and harder to come by than N64 and PS1/ PS2 games. Although I am a huge Nintendo fan, I would urge you to save up a couple extra $$ and just get a PS2 since they also play PS1 games, and both systems games are easy to come by and mostly dirt cheap (unless you are seeking out the best RPGS like Suikoden II and Final Fantasy VII). The N64 woukd be the least expensive, and it also has a hand full of excellent exclusive games such as: Super Mario 64 F-Zero X Golden Eye 007 Banjo Kazooie Mario Kart 64 Paper Mario Super Smash Bros Turok 1 & 2 Doom 64 (imo) I am less knowledable about what the PS1 & II have, but they definitely have a pretty good line up, especially if you like arcade ports, or classics like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Wing Commander etc. or PS exclusives like Twisted Metal 1 & 2.
  8. Thanks to a massive upsurge in reto gaming popularity, its a year (for retro gamres) to be excited about games! Wii: Donkey Kong Country Returns Golden Eye 007 3DS: The 3DS in generally took me by surprise. The first I heard of it, I was very skepticle, but after seeing it and learning its potential, I think it may just be the next system I buy. The idea of watching a 3D movie without paying thousands for the tv, glasses and 3d blue ray player sits well with me, and seeing N64 games return with updated textures and higher polygon count.. plus in 3D sit REALY well with me. Also, the fact that there will also be classic games re-released in 3D (SMB series and Megaman for example) is pretty exciting. 360: Fable III
  9. The article for sure is a hoax, SEGA fan boys creat articles like these on a regular basis (cant blame them). But on another note, it would make sense for them to eventually make another console within the next four years. With Microsoft and Sony losing out on money, I dont see them dumping a lot into their next gen systems. Besides, we all know Move and Kinect (stupid name) are going to bomb because they showed up too little too late in the systems life, cost too much and probably have little to offer over what the wii has given us. They really should have saved their effort for their next system to be. But while MS and Sony lose out on money on their consoles, Sega has been doing well selling their franchises on other consoles, not to mention with retro gaming becoming especially popular lately (note Wii's 4th quarter 2010 line-up) I could see a lot of people getting pretty damn psyched about a new SEGA console. Either way, if they do, they had better put a lot of ingenuity into it.. (and no add-ons, please! )
  10. If it is 200 or under I will buy it at launch, and either one game, or a points card because I am more interesting in the updated 3D versions of nes-n64 games, which I am sure will be download only. Since Nintendo struck a deal with Netflix, hopefully 3DS will get it too. Would be neat to be able to watch 3D movies without having to buy a $2000 tv, wear silly goggles, and buy a $200 3d compatible blue ray player.. When I first hear about the 3DS I was VERY skepticle, but after seeing it, I think it has a shit ton of potential and will do pretty well. 3D movies plus retro gaming in 3D? Sounds neat to me.
  11. From what I have seen, the 3DS has new graphics hardware. Some of the demos looks to be up to par with Wii graphics to be completely honest, and the N64 ports on demo had updated graphics (more polycount, better lighting, and hi-res textures.. just check out the Star Fox 64 3D screen shots). Emulation, probably not, but I could see Dream Cast games being ported to the 3DS with no problem. Even if they reduced the polygon count or resolution, you wouldnt be able to notice due to the screen size. The controller would work out great for DC games, plus Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxy, Jet Set and Shenmue would be awesome in 3D. Especially Sonic Adventure imo.
  12. Looks like Sony and Microsoft are jumping on the Sega bandwagon and releasing addons that are likely to fail and cost to much at the end of a consoles life-span. And just like Sega addons, by the end of the consoles lifespan, there will not be enough games (good ones anyway) to justify dishing out the money over a Wii, which already has fun and intuitive games. They should have saved their efforts for their next console. I want to see 3D and motion control combined with VR. That would be ULTIMATE.
  13. I am awefully dissapoint. Although the game and concept itself I am sure will be good, I was looking forward to Nintendo and HAL bringing back the orginal Kirby gameplay style, as in Kirbys Adventure, one of the best NES games.. But instead they gave us some toddler looking game about "epic" yarn. I wont be buying this. Donkey Kong Country Return on the other hand..
  14. cool i want to buy that i love the donkey kong country games... Anyone know if the old enemies will make a return? It looks great, but watching a couple times I noticed all these enemies ive never seen before, but not one kremling or even a clap trap. Hope everyone developing this game was forced to play through Donkey Kong Country. Either way, cant wait to get this!!
  15. And Im pretty excited about Donkey Kong Country Returns. I hope they did a good job on it, hope to see some of the old enemies make a return. And a Goldeneye remake, was not expecting that!
  16. That's pretty hilarious! But did you know that you can play the Google Pacman logo? Well, at least you enjoyed it. It was harmless fun, its not like they actually knocked anyone over, they just pushed past people. Personally if I was in a grocery store and got pushed by a giant pac-man, I would laugh about it and it would pretty much make my day. If you dont like it you dont like it, thats fine, but people like RT ruin these kind of forums. Personally dont really find any of his comments funny or necessary.. but thats just me
  17. Heh, I was going to post that this morning. I actually played it for a few minutes Even forgot what I went to google for lol
  18. I cant wait to get my copy! My lady and I are going to have a lot of fun playing this!
  19. I guess the best thing to do would be to order one and find out Worse comes to worse I could trade it.
  20. Shhh! You only have two, I was going to get two SNES and both the NES ones. Thats ok though I wonder if the adapters work on 7. There are a lot of those, that have two nes/snes/n64 adapters that plugs into one USB slot so you can use the actual original controller.
  21. Thanks, but those are not the controllers I was looking for. Like said, I am looking for "retro to usb" controllers that immitate the NES/ SNES controllers, or adapters that all for use of saturn/ n64/ atari controllers.. Are you using the 64-bit version? Im glad at least the SNES controllers work then. Have you tested out any other ones, like the NES one? I am surprised there is not a driver patch or fix for this problem yet. Hopefully someone works on it, its a bummer I finally get a PC that emulates well, but I cant use the controllers I want to.
  22. Yeah, those are all exactly what I am looking for, but I have heard that they do not work with 64-bit operating systems, such as Vista an 7 64 bit (but will work with the 32-bit counterpart.) I was looking on eBay too eBay Auction -- Item Number: 390185253906 and this controller also lists "Not compatible with Vista 64-bit". I want to buy some controllers for sure, but I want to get a confirmative from someone who uses a 64-bit OS before I spend a bunch of money on something I wont be able to use
  23. I have been downloading all of the best emulators for systems that I own, and I was looking online for some USB game pads. Unfortunately, it appears none of them are compatible with 7 or Vista 64 bit.. Does anyone know of any good USB game pads that will work on these OS's? I was really wanting to get the NES, SNES, and Atari 2600 USB controllers
