Good point.
I do still have all the parts if I ever want to re-assemble it.
and Jess, it was no $3000 machine, it was not in the greatest condition. I was filled with mouse poop and spiders and dust, the marquee was all busted up, and the rubber pin stripe on one side is missing.
I am going to put it to use though. I am going to make a new Plieades marquee, and make it the game the system boots too, plus it will play more games.
Also, I am going to replace the screen with something along the lines of a 20" flat lcd monitor.
I just got bummed when I looked it up and realized how popular this particular Cabin is.. it even has its own wiki page :!:
-
I scored a Plieades cabin in exchange for doing a Tattoo..
Pheonix was always one of my favorite arcade games growing up, but I DO NOT remember Plieades.. when I got the cabin, it was in working order, it just needed a good cleaning.. but instead I gutted it to turn it into a MAME arcade
What did I do!? Why didn't I look it up first? Thats not like me
Oh well.. i'll have it boot up to Plieades, and i'll make a new Marquee for it.
I DO still have the game board, and all of the parts I removed.
Let this be a lesson, research before action!

Kewl - but I didn't here you talk about the walls - the decor is interesting...can you tell us what all you did there?
I painted all of the walls, and the floor black. I made the stencils with poster board and used fluorescent spray paints.
I also painted the pipes and vents with green fluorescent. I still intend on adding more shelves to hold boxed games and such.
It really looks much better with the main light off, especially at night (which is when I am usually playing games anyway). The room really gives off an Arcade feeling, I just need a soundtrack of Pacman and Centipede with people talking and popping in quarters

Wow, the N64DD?
Luck you!
Nice collection!

I would have to agree about the Intv losing a bit through emu due to the controllers, which is the same reason I feel the Colecovision looses out through emu. I feel lucky to own these systems and games for them. Nostalgia, the Intv emulator hits it dead on though with near flawless emulation.
Now the system I feel gets shat on by emulation is the SNES. It's easier to see when its your favorite console next to the Intv. The best emulation I have seen is SNES9X, but the color pallet still seems wrong.
Some N64 games look a little rough through emulation too, but then there are games like Super Mario 64 that look better on the pc than the 64! It also plays nice too on the keyboard if you configure the controls well!

Did anyone buy from Shiny Technologies one of their Classic Game Controllers? I purchased the CGC with Inty type 2 adapter(DB-9) maybe 6 years ago for around $75.00. I just realized after looking at their site tonight they no longer make these. Do you guys think this could have some collectable value to it? I guess I'm thinking of what happened with those Atari 2600 flash carts (Cuttle Cart2, etc) that are no longer in production and look what happens when one of those come up for sale.
Either way I must admit mine did perform really well with the Nostalgia emulator.
If you have one of those, count your lucky stripes.
Yes, those are worth a LOT of money right now, just because they were made in such limited quantities. Im jealous you have one, I'm a huge Intv collector!

Hmm.. there are some penguins in Yoshi's Island.
Of course, Antarctic Adventure.
March of the Penguins for DS.
-
Nice!
Too expensive for me
I love the case too! -
Graphic design in the early 80s = 3D grids
Lol! True, that and colorfull letters popping out at ya with a trail behind it.
Ok, I see a Colecovision, a the Rollerball module, the 2600 expander, Pistol Grip controller, and the Wheel, but could someone please tell me what that other thing is inbetween the CV and the 2600 module?
-
Name them! Who can name the most?

Yes, and for even more penguiny goodness, download Yume Penguin Monogatari for the NES! It's the story of the penguin from Antarctic Adventure trying to lose weight for the love of his fickle girlfriend. Diet drinks and time make you shed pounds, while the food thrown by enemies makes you GAIN it, changing your abilities. It's a lot of fun; definitely go out and find yourself a copy.
I got an idea for a new thread
Thanks for the suggestion too!

I have played millions upon millions of PC clones of our favorite Classic games, from titles like "Nothing but action", and "Greatest Arcade Hits", I have seen many polished up titles (most of course with silly names that resemble the original).
Last night I was searching for some good ones,
I found a pretty cool remake of Demon Attack, althuogh I played an played and never came to a boss

This "3D" space invaders is pretty cool too:

It would also be worth your time to check out the Berzerk remake, aka angry pixel bots. I found it pretty entertaining.
Apparently these guys do a lot of good remakes as well.
What are some classic remakes that you enjoyed? Links are appreciated!

What is a good MSX emulator? (I dont own one)
Again, BlueMSX. It plays both MSX software files and ColecoVision ROMs.

BlueMSX's user interface takes a bit of getting used to, with configuration options spread all over the place, but once you get used to it, you probably will not want to use anything else. And it also helps that the author of BlueMSX is a member of this board, namely dvik.
OH, I see. I didnt realize BlueMSX was the emulator, I thought you were recommending a similar game for the MSX, sorry about that. Thanks for the recommendation, im going to download it!
-
I would recommend BlueMSX.
P.S.: It's Antarctic Adventure, BTW.

Whoops, lol.
I'll check that out!

I downloaded a CV emulator last night to check out what games I have been missing out on and I found one particular title I spent a LOT of time on:
(EDIT: Ant)arctic Adventure!
I liked the faux 3D style, the cute music, and the cute little chubby penguin! I also thought it was clevel that you have to jump over cracks, can catch flags and salmon jumping out of water holes, and those damn seals that pop up through the ice.
I found this game to be very entertaining, the only con is you get a game over if you run out of time just once

Can anyone recommend a better emulator? I am using a OLD build of VColeco.
(I have a sheer lack of CV games in my collection, and I can currently only use my ADAM to play the games I have

I remember Dark Force in Phantasy Star 2 was very hard compared to the dungeon that led to him. I think that's the most time I ever had to spend leveling for a boss.
The scariest enemy in that game though is the "Blaster" in I think the 2nd dungeon. This isn't a boss, just a random encounter that will annihilate you at that stage of the game. You have to run when you see them and hope for the best.
Ah yes! Nice Choice! Between Phantasy Star II, Suikoden II, and FF VII, youve got some high class RPG.
Illusion of Gia, Chrono Cross, and Secret of Mana too!

If your into the classic systems and have money go the flash cart route.
If your limited on money and space get a PC with a video card that can output to a tv (S-video). I would also recommend buying the many usb adapters available that allow you to use the real controllers. This is as about as close as one can get to the real deal and it's relatively inexpensive.
For example, this is my personal history with video games:
Had the Intellivision as a kid, parents threw it away.
Used emulation to bring back the Intellivision memories but never felt right.
Purchased the usb adapter so I could use the real Intv controllers getting very close to the real deal.
Discovered flash carts, hit Ebay for an Intv and purchased the Cuttle cart 3. Wow, what more can I say.
Went back to Ebay and figured I'd might of as well buy every hardware piece that was made for Intv (intellivoice/music keyboard/ecs computer)
Can you tell I lean towards the Intellivision?
So, basically I find myself buying the classic systems and flash carts. I can't explain it but it's like I'm on a mission.
Haha, you sound like me!
I have an Intv, Intv II with ECS, Synth, and System Changer, and a System III.
I have been wanting to get a cuttle cart since there are just some games I will probably not be able to obtain (like spiker) I was lucky enough to come across Congo Bongo and Fathom seal, but I can play them.. because they are sealed. Cuttle Cart would solve that!
I also want to get the CV flash cart and a Crock Cart for 2600 (I think thats what its called anyway.)
I still enjoy having the actual carts, but I know its beyond my ability to collect every game for every system.
Hopefully someday we can have the same type of multi carts available for systems like SNES.
I mean, what does it hurt the company? Its not like games are still being sold or made for these systems.
Where did you come across a usb adapter compatible with Intv? I have plenty of emulators, the only one thats not a bitch to use the keyboard with is the 2600.
-
Its a bummer that such a great system was built so poorly. While all my other consoles that predate my CV keep chuggin along, I can no longer play CV games on the actual unit. Most of the game shows up but I get strange lines and spots of grabled junk on the screen.. I have been forced to use the ADAM or an emulator

One of these days i'll get me another working CV.
As far as the paddles, if you cant get em to work I would check eBay or post in the wanteds.

Suikoden II, second from last boss.
Its been a while since Ive played that game. My copy disappeared, and when I went to look on eBay.. turns out its a rare title
I don't want to spend that much on it.

Yeah, I went for some drip and splatter effects, it looks pretty nice when the black lights are on. Some of the stencils I made up look pretty crisp, The space invaders on the door really pop out. I like the sorta "graffiti" look to it
Thanks for the comments.
