Wow, those are pretty wicked Kiosks.
Especially DD's Coleco Kiosk, and the Intv one.
The Megadrive is pretty bad too!
I actually remember the NES one

-
How about ones that failed miserably?
-Crystal Castles. Now if you didnt already play the arcade version, you would be thinking, wow, this is a great game that really pushed the VCS's limits. But then you play the arcade, and it just doesn't do.. it just doesn't do..
I dunno how they could have made it any better.
The only thing missing are the warps
Im not saying its bad, it is just not like the arcade, which I could play for hours.

You see? But thats just my opinion, so please dont get offended!
Battle Zone. Just does not feel like battlezone. But re-releasing it as "Robot Tank" is just fine
Robot Tank is not a re-release of Battlezone. Robot Tank is by Activision, and while it is similar to Battlezone, you can't even call it a clone, as it has drastically different gameplay.
You are right, the gameplay mechanics are a little different, and battle zone looks nicer.
Strange thing though! My copy of Robot Tank, is actually Battlezone with a Robot Tank label!!! I must make a video to show you! I dont know how that could have happened, that is why I got mixed up.
Does anyone else have a copy of Robot Tank that is actually battle zone?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but $20 for a scuffed-up Game Boy isn't a particularly good price (and certainly not such a deal that it deserved its own thread.)
Chris
Sorry, definitely not such a good snag. I dont know about the UK or other states here, but I know its easy to score a mint GB for $10, games about $3-10 each. Gameboy pocket/ color around $15, GBA $20, and GBAsp $35.
Here is a tip for you when using eBuy:
Sort by: Action only: Time: Ending Soonest
or
Sort by: Buy it Now: Price: Lowest
Usually find the best deals that way.. or get a hold of someone on here.
This is a good community, and usually we like to keep our stuff in it.

Uncommons to Rares:
THUNDER CASTLE! Do yourself a favor, and hunt for thunder castle, the price is well worth it! This game really pushes the Intv to its limits, with a great title, three beautifully detailed intermission screens. There is well translated victory, death, and invulnerability music, plus great in-game music with three separate screens!
Not to mention, it is just a fun and challenging game.
The Dreadnaught Factor. Very addicting, great in game detail, challenging!
Tower of Doom. You will NOT be dissapointed with this title. Compelling and advanced gameplay will have you feeling like your playing a graphically challenged Diablo.
Bump and Jump. An addicting little racing game, where you earn points by smashing other cars off the road. Cute in game music.
Diner. Imagine if Crystal Castles and Burgertime had sex, this is the outcome. Addicting!
Ice Trek. Multiple screens, challenging, lots of fun.
Dragonfire. Im sure you have played it on the atari, but this version is a little more graphically pleasing. Easter egg: press 1 while on the bridge, and the programmers name will appear as one of the treasures!
Beauty and the Beast. Although it is an obvious DK spinoff, it has playability, and can be quite addicting.
Tropical Trouble. If there was a sequel to B&TB, this is it (uses the same hero and villian) only this time you trek across four screens to reclaim your kidnapped lover.
River Raid. This is one of the best ports of the game. It is both impressive, and very fun.
Worm Whomper. A silly concept, but easily addicting, and laughs for everyone.
Pac Man. I initially though, oh its gonna be another crappy pac man port, but instead, I got arcade quality pac man with the correct sounds music, and even intermissions!
Dig Dug. A worthy port over.
Commando. Hard but fun.
Frogger. Not as good as the starpath frogger for the 2600, or even coleco, but it is nonetheless, frogger.
Q*Bert. I preffer this version.
AD&D Treasure of Tarmin (Minotaur). Fun, lengthy, and 3D (sorta) Just make sure you get the manuals and inserts for this game, otherwise you may have trouble figuring out just what the hell is going on.
Donkey Kong. JUST KIDDING. Although DK jr is not so bad!
Masters of the Universe, The Power of He-Man. Lame, but fun and novel!
World Series Major League Baseball. If you can manage to figure out how it works, it is one of the better sports games of the day, and fun for multiplay.
---
Commons that are fun:
Astrosmash
Tron Deadly Disks
Shar! Shark! <<< Best multiplayer ever!
Bomb Squad. "The code, the code! They'll never guess it in time!" lol
Burgertime
NightStalker. Cheat: When you aquire your pistol, quickly go to the bottom of the screen and shoot the robot right after it spawns. Wait about a second after it explodes, and shoot in that direction again, repeat. You will eventually run out of ammo, but this is a quick way to advance to the deadlier robots.
---
Also, if you need disks, I have a paddle I can sell/trade you for parts.
-
Wow! Nice collection.
I'll be keeping and eye out.
-
Christ you have a lot of 2600 games! I'd like to see the price in that head alone.
Nice.
You missed out on a lot of good games for the nintendo systems though :-(
-
Mr. Do!
One of my favorite games to play as a kid!
Also one of the few games my mom would actually play.
I recently pulled out the Adam and hooker her up and me and my other played it for about an hour.
Great game!
-
Wow, thanks for all the suggestions.
Discovering Visual Bb was great as I am largely a visual learner (hence the fact I am an artist). I think i'll be doing a lot of reading over the next few months.
-
Much thanks for this program, now people that learn better visually like I can learn to us Bb.
This is a great program, I have a feeling i'll be spending some time looking into Bb and your Visual IDE.
-
Zelda on Coleco would be awesome. Even if not the complete game!
-
-Atari 2600
-Intellivision
-Colecovision
-Atari 7800
-Atari 5200
Which of these system is best for a beginner,
Which is hardest to learn?
Are there any user friendly programs that make it easier to pull/ grab and edit sprites/ graphics for doing hacks without a lot of programming?
Please give opinions and reasons.
Any references, books, or websites that would be helpful are appreciated!
Thanks.

There are several Intellivision titles I would like to see on the ColecoVision. Utopia is at the top of my list (and is also on my homebrew to-do list), but other candidates include:
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Cartridge
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Treasure of Tarmin
- Armor Battle (or something similar, the CV needs a good versus tank battle game. Tank Wars just doesn't cut it.)
- Bomb Squad (minus the voice synthesis, obviously, but that could be replaced with on-screen text.)
- Demon Attack (the boss encounter alone is worth the price of admission!)
- The Dreadnaught Factor (vertical scrolling would perhaps be preferable, like in the Atari 5200 version.)
- Lock 'n' Chase (just porting the arcade game would probably be a much better idea...)
- Microsurgeon (the TI-99/4A version would perhaps be better as a blueprint for a CV version.)
- Pinball (with three boards, it looks like a good pinball candidate for the ColecoVision.)
- Sea Battle
- Swords and Serpents
- Thin Ice
- Tower of Doom
Aside from Intellivision conversions, one thing that would be cool to have on the ColecoVision is a multicart that would reproduce the old Coleco Telstar games. Most Telstar models were just Pong variants, but the Telstar Arcade offered a lot more variety, and the Telstar Combat was just plain cool (for the time).

Dreadnaught Factor, Tower of Doom, and AD&D Treasure of Tarmin, would all definitely be AWESOME to see on Coleco.
Tower of Doom is so much fun! Im sure between this game and D&D is where a lot of inspiration for modern games like Diablo came from.

Dude, Take off 5200, that thing isnt even close to becoming a Major Console.
Vectrex belongs where it is, but, Odd 2 might be moved up, maybe.
Everything else is fine.
Yeah, the Odyssey2 does kinda float inbetween major/minor. Ive known enough people who grew up with them to say lower major though. 5200 definitely gets booted off, although it is NOT a bad system.
Here is an afterthough:
Action Max: Wtf?
Hey, what about Turbo Grafx 16? Great system.

-
what exactly, does it play?
i also don't care for arcade space invader graphics being called 'atari' graphics, minor geek point but still...
I dont know why its called a "punk Console", since its more of a noise maker.
Very cool looking, but im not so sure about $45 for it

-
Yeah. Obscure consoles have been popping up everywhere in the last couple weeks. Jag stuff started showing up like crazy at the Play-N-Trades near me.
Jag? Really?
That is the one console I NEVER see around here!
I have always wanted one, primarily to play its polished port of Wolf 3D, 2 player Doom, and AVP!
What Intv stuff came up in your area? Grab it up!
AX, PM sent.
-
Nothing.
My answer is due to programmers are not big on making homebrew games off someone's wish list of games. Homebrewers feel that people that are doing the requests should be developing the games they want.
This thread is not a wish list for developers, it is a thread for us to discuss amongst ourselves, game/ port/ mod/ brews that we have thought of..
And a few developers have confirmed they arent bothered if people discuss ideas, as even a couple of projects have come from just such forums.
If developers had such a problem with it, they could simply just not look at threads that suggest ideas.

Renters/ condo insurance is a wise way to go I suppose.
And catastrophes are something I like not to think about

-
So it seems like everyone gave pretty good answers.
I'll have to agree with:
-Galaxian
-Space Invaders (impressive!)
-Frogger
-Q-Bert
-Star Wars Arcade and Star Trek were very impressive.
-War Lords
-Megamania!
-DK. Now, I have to say, the graphics may not have been the best, DK may look more like a gingerbread man than an ape.. and it was indeed missing two screens (which I believe Coleco did on purpose, like the horrible abomination that was DK on Intv.) Buuut, I found it enjoyable to play, and the controls felt pretty accurate (especially compareed to Intv's
)-Mario Bros Does not seem to be lacking too much. Lets see, all the platforms and pipes in the right spot, got fireballs, pow block, turtle, crab, firefly, icer.. Its there, and the gameplay is enjoyable 1 player(except maybe the walking fx), and a great 2 player!
-Gyrus, oh lets not forget Gyrus wasnt bad!
How about ones that failed miserably?
-Burger Time
WTF!? What is that? Am I being chased by? Wtf?
-Crystal Castles. Now if you didnt already play the arcade version, you would be thinking, wow, this is a great game that really pushed the VCS's limits. But then you play the arcade, and it just doesn't do.. it just doesn't do..
-DK jr.
Ok, as if your ears being raped by the sound of that goofy looking excuse of a monkey wasnt bad enough.. there are no fruit for killing the alligators, which look more like staples.
Now, before setting this game aside as a disgrace, give it a good play, because it does actually have playability. It is pretty fun, addictive, and has three screens which I find impressive. All you have to do, is pretend that it is not supposed to be DK jr.
-Battle Zone. Just does not feel like battlezone. But re-releasing it as "Robot Tank" is just fine

-
I wouldnt worry so much about $40 worth of games that you would need a fire proof safe. (try owning $1000's worth of games, you'll need insurance, lol) But I do agree with you. As much as I LOVE Imagic carts, and their labels with the cool foil look.. the handles are a little silly. But still not as bad as Blockade Runner for Intv.
I keep all my games in a metal filing cabin. Works great!

-
Lucky, my Craigslist, all the ads are like this.
ATARI 2600! WITH RARE GAMES LIKE E.T.! 100 BUCKS! CHEAP!
yes, that was a listing, like, one month ago, no joke.
Good job on the find!
Haha, thanks guys.
Yeah, I see ads like that every once in a while, where someone wants an outrageous price, and the $100 Atari isn't uncommon

Pac Man, ET and 3 sports games for $25 low price!
-
I was looking on eBay for certain hand helds, and I found these little atari joystick keychains that act as a mini plug n play.
They come with two/ three games, Asteroids and Millipede, Centipede and Yars Revenge, and Pong, Breakout, and Warlords.
-
As much as I love playing the good ol' blocky games we all grew up on, I would like to check out any "polished" versions of old classics, ones that are replicas of the originals, but with shiny new pretty graphics (ie Namcos Dig Dug remix, stuff like that).
I have seen a bunch of Atari and Intv titles redone for cell phones, but I dont own a flashy new phone that plays games.. I would like to play them via PC.
ALSO! Anyone interested in working on classic remakes, I would love to do the art for it!

-
lol, i got such a smile on my face when i heard *MATTEL ELECTRONICS PRESENTS - B-17 BALMER* in its funny robot voice, which actually sounds pretty good quality wise lol
LOL! Me and my buddy still joke about that one pretty often. Haha, there were times I hit reset multiple times just to hear it. "Beee siventeeen balmeer", lol
Porky's is a good, but challenging 2600 game.
It has quite a few screens, and even some blocky x rated action, you'll see.
The only outdoor flea market around me closed out for some reason. What a bummer.. then there is the Gibraltor Trade Center, which sucks, becuase the venders there are hoarders of junk, with the same over priced crap for years.
Last night I scored an Intv System III with several rare boxed games and Intellivoice for $20.
Some of the games included PacMan and Centipede from Atari Soft, AD&D, Bombsquad and Pitfall (which I now have like 6 of).

I still have the game center in the picture that is holding the sixer.
But you know what really sucks? When I was demonstrating some of the games to a friend, I sat on the smoked glass case which I sat on the futon, and it shattered to pieces.
Thats ok though, I rarely had the cover on because I like to see the 2600 sitting out since it was the first system I ever played on.
The woodgrain case looks cool sitting on top of my woodgrain magnavox tv with a woodgrain 2600 in it
