  1. I was bored and decided to type in different systems into craigslist and see what happens. The last thing I decided to type in was "intv", so I ended up scoring and Intv System III, plus some rare boxed games, Pac Man and Centipede from Atari soft, AD&D boxed w/ inserts, and Bomb Squad NIB.

Granted I had to drive 40 min, totally worth it for $20 :D

  2. Wow, looks great.

I would definitely like to purchase a copy of the Opgrade Module and all games you develop for it. :D

    Edit:

I would also like to add, Arkanoid was always one of my favorites! I remember the first time I played it on an arcade machine!

  3. What - you don't want to see Doom done in Batari basic? : ]

There seems to be some momentum in the Satan's Hollow port for the ColecoVision. At least at this point it has caught the eye of several all-star developers.

There was some other thread that someone wrote saying "stop requesting home brews" and to me it was really "snotty." I say that because it encourages broken communication between developers and gamers. The request threads, I would have to believe, give developers an idea for demand. In the case of Satan's Hollow, one developer never played the game.

If someone knows what thread I'm referring to, please post a link so that you can judge for yourself.

I would also like to see a Pac-Man Collection II for the ColecoVision with ports of Jr. Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man Plus, Ms. Pac-Man SpeedUp Hack and I guess Super Pac-Man (to be a completest and the fact that some believe it to be underrated).

Jr. Pac-Man on the 7800 simply kicks butt. Whoever wrote the 2600 port must have been a really p155ed off individual because it is undeniably the toughest game on the 2600. I probably played the game 200 times and only reached level 2 three times. I still like to play it, even if it constantly throws "you suck" insults at me.

The first person who replied to this thread posted the link to the exact thread your talking about. And yes, it was very snotty and pissed me right off. Mostly because some people were stating that sprite animators and artist should receive no credit, because the programmer does the "real" work. I dont think it went down like that at Activision, or Imagic, or Mattel, or even any modern gaming studios. Anyone who put forth some sort of effort should get proper credit.

Im sure not all developers feel the same as some of those who posted there though. If people want to post ideas, let them post ideas, it aint hurting nothing. Now if you were demanding your ideas directly at developers, that would be another story.

  4. Agreed I hate the idea of Digital Download, I want to hold the game I just paid for, I want to be able to bring it to a friends house in its case.

However, as for carts vs. cd's, well, CD's are becoming as doomed as computer digital data packs (cassette tapes), and a new form, more similar to a cartridge is inevitable. And as technology evolves, prices for these new toys will drop, as all things have (remember when flash drives first came out? Now you see em' in bubble gum machines).

    Check out this article, http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=data-in-the-fast-lanes

There is continuously new research on innovative ways to store massive amounts of data at lower costs.

  5. Dang it's been awhile since I've played Super Mario 2...From what I remember, I liked the last levels, Wart's Castle. I LOVE the ending to SMB 2 ,and don't understand why people complain about it. I thought that plot about 'it was all a dream' was very clever and cute.

Sure it was a copy of a Japanese game, sure it seemed not like the others but imo Super Mario 2 was the best.

When I first played Super Mario Bros 3 I was actually very disappointed. Can't choose the Princess anymore!?:( Luigi's back to being a 2nd player character?? What happened to Wart??? The screen colors seemed a bit dull too. Although I do love the little bonus games of part 3...

Super Mario World was a big improvement from part 3 though. I like Yoshi. Makes me want to find a copy of the game and see if it's really that hard. I just remember thinking it was boring when I did play it.

For me, SMW is a little dull when set next to SMB2 or 3, and its really not all that hard unless your wanted the beat the star road or special world levels, then those are a pretty good challenge.

Haha, also loved the mini games of SMB3, I remember me and my sister fighting over who got to get them, especially in water world where you get to take the boat to them.

  6. Whoops. My reply was a bit angry, so I guess what I was trying to say is, if someone works on a nice sprite set, especially if someone paints a nice piece of box art for you, then give credit where credit is due.

This can work the other way around too, for example, an artist has a website made for them, so the artist then gives credit to the web designer, who must know java/ html.

I totally understand when people cant get a cut of the money, producing carts is more about the fun and passion than the money made off them. But anyone who helped on it should get credit.

Thats the same with any gaming company, ie, the guy who did the box art for Diablo got credit, and has become a successful artist.

I would gladly contribute box art or sprites, and for free too.

  7. Just a topic starter.

Personally, I would like to see Doom on any system after 2600 but before NES. Obviously a true FPS isnt possible, but something like AD&D Treasure of Tarmin (Minotaur) would be pretty cool.

I would also like to a 3 screen side scrolling Mario game for the 2600, the third level would be something like the end of the castles in SMB1, where the bridge dissapears and Koopa falls into the lava. I imagine this using the Mario/ Luigi sprites from the 2600 Mario Bros.

Also, I would love to do Cartridge/ Instruction/ Sprite art!

  9. If you get a chance, open her up and take a good look at the connector points.

I know my first intellivision had almost exactly what you described happen. It turned out that a point needed re soldering.

Also, it wold give you a chance to clean her up inside.

I do highly recommend getting an Intv II if you get a chance. They are slightly more reliable, and the detachable power supply/ controllers are plus. Donkey Kong and a couple other Coleco games do not work (DK Jr does work however).

I will be selling an Intv II + ECS and System Changer with some games here soon.

  10. I grew up with the 2600, and there a quite a few good games that are worth playing on it.

However, I believe that was all meant to be a joke, and I did find it pretty humorous, especially the artists rendition of "75 %" of all 2600 games lol!

Jokes are funny if you dont take them serious. I got a laugh out of it, but I still love my woody! Infact, I think im gonna go pop in chopper command.
