  1. I can never beat Super Mario 3 lol.. I always get bored around the last level and just turn it off. I never saw the ending. Super Mario Bros 2(the US version) I can beat in one sitting, that one's alot of fun.I'd have to say alot more fun than the 3rd one.I know alot of people would'nt agree but I kinda like part 2 better.

SMB3 was always one of my favorites, but I can agree with you. I had a LOT of fun on SMB2. I especially like finding the warp zones. Luigi was always my favorite to play as since he jumped so high! :D What was your favorite world?

  2. Sears Video Arcade II :D

I have a jr sitting on display, but generally I have most recently used the INTV system changer just to test it out, and the 7800 because I recently picked up some new games for it. But when I want the full nostalgic experience, I use my 4 switch woody.

  3. 1. Megamania

    2. Mario Bros.

    3. Chopper Command

    4. Space Jockey

    5. River Raid

    6. Pitfall

    7. Frogs and Flies

    8. Donkey Kong

    9. Donkey Kong Jr. (I always liked the very crude versions of these games)

    10. Asteroids

Most of these games hold a special level of nostalgia. I remember playing these games like crazy with my sister and cousins.

Mario Bros was always one of my favorites, and man when I got the next three on NES! But thats for another forum :-)

  4.

I'm getting this game in the mail in a couple days. I'll have to see which version I have.

Any other Saturn games with odd cover/spine issues?

None that im aware of, but I wouldnt be all too surprised.

Do these label anomalies bring up the value or rarity?

I have a sealed copy of Doom.. too bad it happens to be the worst port ever lol.

  5. I'm surprised more people don't use Big Lot's shelves. They come from the same suppliers as Target's stuff, and it's over 50% cheaper. $40 sounds high until you go to Target and realize that would cost you over 100-200 bucks.

I think Wal-Mart sells them at prices closer to that Big Lots price, but even the Big Lots ones are kinda high for what they are: sawdust press board that's over-heavy and under-strong/durable.

I find solid wood shelves in alleyways for free, or super cheap on Craig's List.

    Exactly!

Free or CL is the way to go.

My wife also made me a pretty sweet little shelf to accommodate my Atari computers and colecovision.

It sits in my game room, I love it there.

And Doom 3 could have been better.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The Saturn version is terrible. The Jag version owns.

The Saturn version was terrible yes, but I wouldnt say that the Jag version owned, I mean, the lack of music is no good.

The only good ports were SNES and PSX.

Now, before anyone starts about the SNES port being chuggy and blocky, keep in mind it was one of the only ports that kept all of the original music (actually sounded better in my opinion), all of the original secrets, all three episodes, and all weapons and enemies.. which to me is much more important than graphics and speed (ie, 32x port was pretty, and fast, but lacked decent music, half the levels, no bosses, and no bfg :-( so basically it was like playing the shareware version).

I actually created a Doom mod recently.

Its a TC, but I cant get the midis to work.. however, this WAD will replace ALL textures, sprites, graphics, enemies, weapons and sounds.

If anyone is interested in making levels for this, let me know. Also, it would be a great deal of help, and add to the legitimate Mario atmosphere if I could send someone the midis to be converted to .mus, or if someone could put them in there.

Well, here it is, check out!

I recommend running this with Edge, using DOOM.

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/vkzxrmwmmj3/Doomed%20Super%20Mario.zip

Please play through enough levels before commenting back! Thanks

Once again, I strongly recommend using EDGE since that is the engine I used to test this(obtainable through doomworld.com) to run this, simply drag the wad into the edge icon. Not all computers will run this.

Man, there are FAR too many custom wads out there for me to pick a favorite :-)

  7. I see a lot of "Turbo Duo's" and "FC Twins", even NES + Gen console clones..

So with all the effort put into the second gen system clones, why has there not been an

    Atari/ Colecovision/ Intellivision clone?

Shouldnt that be pretty simple? Also, would it be possble to have the system replicate 7800 since it is backward compatible with 2600, making it a 4-in-1.

    That would be cool.

The only real difficult part would be designing the controller, which I guess something more like a coleco controller with a joystick instead of a stub would be acceptable.

    Just a thought.

Shove them all in one case, with differant out puts for joy sticks, 3 power adapters, and hook-ups!

VIOLA! Its that 3 in one youve been dreaming about!

But,really, a 3 in one intelly, coleco, and 2600 shouldnt be that hard... we already have a 2600 on a Chip. It would take a year or two to make Coleco and Intelly on a Chip(s), but worth it!

Wow, you have no idea. A year or two to make a console on a chip? It doesn't work that way, it's not some magical thing, that will just work with time. It's like solving a problem with 100 plus variables, and your only given is, maybe X is less than seven, or maybe not.

Cram them in the same case sure, but then your stuck with a gross box, and you wonder to yourself, if it was so bad having three consoles in the first place.

Yeah, shoving them all in one box would defeat the purpose, which is space saving (the reason I have me gen, nes, and snes on display, and the trio 3-in-1 hooked up to the tv.)

I guess the sales wouldn't justify the development cost, but really, if it can be done with snes, or genesis, im sure it wouldn't take over two years to develop these systems on a chip. Isnt there already an Intv on a chip anyway, I have several plug and play Intv games..

It was just an idea. It would be fun flipping back and forth between the three without the hassle of all the tangle cords and rf switches ya know?

Plus, it would just make a fun addition to any collection.

  8. Okay, so how do you store your loose cartridges? I have three methods. One is a metal filing cabinet. Works great. Holds all of my Atari 2600 games (73), and 5200 games (17) I also have an embroidered Pac-Man box that was made for me, and a Cherry Wood case I made back in Junior High, some 17 or so years ago. That case holds all of my Atari 7800 games (18).

Haha, I too use a metal filing cabinet. It has two sliding drawers which fit 2600 carts perfectly.

  9. Pretty much most of Duke Nukem 3D. "Come on, whatta ya waitin for, Christmas?" "Damn, im looking good." "Ive got balls of steel."

When you kick someone off the edge of a building or cliff in Double Dragon.

Type in god mode for Doom (iddqd) while playing Heretic. Also, turning yourself or enemies into chickens in that game is pretty funny too.

Pretty much all of Shadow Warrior. "Would you like to wash wang, or would you like to watch wang wash wang?"

  11. Yeah, it is a cosmetic thing. Ive always thought it would be cool to see all four system pieces hooked together and matching.

By the way, how did you happen upon the brown euro ECS? Ive always wanted one of the to match the Intv I.

Its a bummer the Intv dont get a lot of love around here, its a great system.

Ebay. Long time ago. I think I got it from Australia. I'd part with it as I have a perfectly good white model, but it would cost you. It does look ultra snazzy though... :)

You're the second or third person to ask me about it in so many months. Are the brown ECS units that rare?

    Tempest

Rare in the US since they were never released here. To be honest, I dont really even see the US white ones a whole lot. In the past year I think ive only seen one ECS on eBay, and the one at Destiny games.

If your willing to part though, let me know what you would take for it! Then we could meet up at Destiny or something.

  12. The only real compatability issues with the 2-in-1 is games which require anything more than a standard controller, or 2 player games where both players use the keypads. For the bulk of the CV library its fine. I personally love mine. The stock controllers leave a little to be desired, and I plan to make myself new ones at some point. I think one of the biggest problems with the console is that the VDP is not heat-sinked, causing premature failure during extended playing time. I've modded mine with composite video, I've heat-sinked the VDP, CPU, and VRAM ICs, and I touched up a few of the solder joints, and I've never had any issues with mine. There's quite a few good SG-1000 games in my opinion, which makes it a worthwhile console to own, unless you just want to have an SG-1000.

Where would one find an SG-1000.. I never see them pop up on eBay.

  13. I like the idea of the 14k cart, which would be the simplest and most cost effective, however, at the same time there are some good points throughout this thread.

*Your original Colecovision will not last forever, infact it could stop working at any time (like mine, which now will not display games properly)

*The audience to which this is being created im sure is more than willing to pay $100-$200 for the project.

*If this stand alone has a cartridge slot for coleco games, how costly would it be to include room for the expansion module?

*I also like the idea of stand alone, because like the cuttle for Intv, it can include an SD slot for loading roms. Very nice.

I understand that a percentage of people want to be playing right on the original system and feel a separate unit would defeat the purpose, but the above points are things to thing about. You would still be using your original controllers, using some of your original carts, and on a unit that largely resembles a colecovision, is a coleco on a chip, and comes from the passion of colecovision enthusiast.

Of course my biggest recommendation is to keep it recognizable as something colecovision, just like the Atari Flashback 2 resembles a shrunken 2600.

Not as far as I know. Other than not matching the styling of the Intellivision II, the Intellivoice works just fine. This seems like a very expensive project for a purely cosmetic issue.

Then again, I use a Intellivision I with an Intellivoice and a brown European ECS so only the music keyboard doesn't match. <img src="http://www.atariage.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="icon_smile.gif" /> I have no need of the system changer.

  15. I am announcing my new website, called the Free Jaguar Project!

Our goal with the Free Jag Project is to open up the Atari Jaguar game system to the same levels of freedom enjoyed by the communities of most every other classing video gaming system. This includes the openness of the developers, the release of free games and utilities, and the ability to freely play ROM and CD images of the classic game releases for the Atari Jaguar while still respecting the ability of current commercial developers to keep their software as commercial-only products.

Feel free to register and start posting!

    Interesting indeed.

Though a lot of people consider the Jag to be a failed system, it actually has a LOT of potential, and is a perfect platform for development.

Too bad there arent many good or complete emulators available.

  16. Is there anyone else out there that would like to see an Intellivoice that would match the Intellivision II and its Components (Computer Module, System Changer, Synthensizer) ??

We already have a prototype design, and PLENTY of loose intellivoices around.

But who or where could make the mold possible, or mod the internals of the intellivoice to fit it?

How much would something like this cost?
