  1. Renters/ condo insurance is a wise way to go I suppose. And catastrophes are something I like not to think about
  2. So it seems like everyone gave pretty good answers. I'll have to agree with: -Galaxian -Space Invaders (impressive!) -Frogger -Q-Bert -Star Wars Arcade and Star Trek were very impressive. -War Lords -Megamania! -DK. Now, I have to say, the graphics may not have been the best, DK may look more like a gingerbread man than an ape.. and it was indeed missing two screens (which I believe Coleco did on purpose, like the horrible abomination that was DK on Intv.) Buuut, I found it enjoyable to play, and the controls felt pretty accurate (especially compareed to Intv's ) -Mario Bros Does not seem to be lacking too much. Lets see, all the platforms and pipes in the right spot, got fireballs, pow block, turtle, crab, firefly, icer.. Its there, and the gameplay is enjoyable 1 player(except maybe the walking fx), and a great 2 player! -Gyrus, oh lets not forget Gyrus wasnt bad! How about ones that failed miserably? -Burger Time WTF!? What is that? Am I being chased by? Wtf? -Crystal Castles. Now if you didnt already play the arcade version, you would be thinking, wow, this is a great game that really pushed the VCS's limits. But then you play the arcade, and it just doesn't do.. it just doesn't do.. -DK jr. Ok, as if your ears being raped by the sound of that goofy looking excuse of a monkey wasnt bad enough.. there are no fruit for killing the alligators, which look more like staples. Now, before setting this game aside as a disgrace, give it a good play, because it does actually have playability. It is pretty fun, addictive, and has three screens which I find impressive. All you have to do, is pretend that it is not supposed to be DK jr. -Battle Zone. Just does not feel like battlezone. But re-releasing it as "Robot Tank" is just fine
  3. I wouldnt worry so much about $40 worth of games that you would need a fire proof safe. (try owning $1000's worth of games, you'll need insurance, lol) But I do agree with you. As much as I LOVE Imagic carts, and their labels with the cool foil look.. the handles are a little silly. But still not as bad as Blockade Runner for Intv. I keep all my games in a metal filing cabin. Works great!
  4. Haha, thanks guys. Yeah, I see ads like that every once in a while, where someone wants an outrageous price, and the $100 Atari isn't uncommon Pac Man, ET and 3 sports games for $25 low price!
  5. I was looking on eBay for certain hand helds, and I found these little atari joystick keychains that act as a mini plug n play. They come with two/ three games, Asteroids and Millipede, Centipede and Yars Revenge, and Pong, Breakout, and Warlords. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=atari+keychain&_sacat=See-All-Categories
  6. As much as I love playing the good ol' blocky games we all grew up on, I would like to check out any "polished" versions of old classics, ones that are replicas of the originals, but with shiny new pretty graphics (ie Namcos Dig Dug remix, stuff like that). I have seen a bunch of Atari and Intv titles redone for cell phones, but I dont own a flashy new phone that plays games.. I would like to play them via PC. ALSO! Anyone interested in working on classic remakes, I would love to do the art for it!
  7. LOL! Me and my buddy still joke about that one pretty often. Haha, there were times I hit reset multiple times just to hear it. "Beee siventeeen balmeer", lol Porky's is a good, but challenging 2600 game. It has quite a few screens, and even some blocky x rated action, you'll see. The only outdoor flea market around me closed out for some reason. What a bummer.. then there is the Gibraltor Trade Center, which sucks, becuase the venders there are hoarders of junk, with the same over priced crap for years. Last night I scored an Intv System III with several rare boxed games and Intellivoice for $20. Some of the games included PacMan and Centipede from Atari Soft, AD&D, Bombsquad and Pitfall (which I now have like 6 of).
  8. I was bored and decided to type in different systems into craigslist and see what happens. The last thing I decided to type in was "intv", so I ended up scoring and Intv System III, plus some rare boxed games, Pac Man and Centipede from Atari soft, AD&D boxed w/ inserts, and Bomb Squad NIB. Granted I had to drive 40 min, totally worth it for $20
  9. Wow, I wondered what your collection looked like. Nice! We need to hang out sometime, lol. Is that an external 5 1/4 next to your Adam? Hard to come by, ive been looking for a while.
  10. Nice collection! Lots of protos there. Im a huge SNES fan, so if you ever decide to part with the kiosk, lol.
  11. Wow.. that is not a collection, nor a game room.. What you have my friend, is a Museum. !!! You are lucky!
  12. Wow, way to crush the competition! That is an A+ collection! Though you should tidy up a bit with such nice stuff in there
  13. Wow, looks great. I would definitely like to purchase a copy of the Opgrade Module and all games you develop for it. Edit: I would also like to add, Arkanoid was always one of my favorites! I remember the first time I played it on an arcade machine!
  14. The first person who replied to this thread posted the link to the exact thread your talking about. And yes, it was very snotty and pissed me right off. Mostly because some people were stating that sprite animators and artist should receive no credit, because the programmer does the "real" work. I dont think it went down like that at Activision, or Imagic, or Mattel, or even any modern gaming studios. Anyone who put forth some sort of effort should get proper credit. Im sure not all developers feel the same as some of those who posted there though. If people want to post ideas, let them post ideas, it aint hurting nothing. Now if you were demanding your ideas directly at developers, that would be another story.
  15. I am looking for: Pac-Man, Melody Blaster Play Cable Brown ECS or Synthensizer pretty much anything uncommon. Just let me know what you have.
  16. Since im not going to buy it, which I would like to, here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/INTV-Intellivision-III-Game-SyStEm-WiTh-BoX-iNst-2-3_W0QQitemZ130326737746QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item1e58143352&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  17. That has to be a joke? How could someone be so DUMB? ..Pac Man.. hot.
  18. Ive got some 400 carts I can part with. I'll have to check later to see what I got, but I know for certain Pac-Man, Galaxian, and Basic.
  19. Agreed I hate the idea of Digital Download, I want to hold the game I just paid for, I want to be able to bring it to a friends house in its case. However, as for carts vs. cd's, well, CD's are becoming as doomed as computer digital data packs (cassette tapes), and a new form, more similar to a cartridge is inevitable. And as technology evolves, prices for these new toys will drop, as all things have (remember when flash drives first came out? Now you see em' in bubble gum machines). Check out this article, http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=data-in-the-fast-lanes There is continuously new research on innovative ways to store massive amounts of data at lower costs.
  20. !!! Way cooler than the wii remote gum tin
  21. I have gotten as far as phase 68, but.. that is the Atari 2600 version. The only reason I didnt get any farther is because I got bored of playing it, lol. Same with Astrosmash for Intv. You get so far and end up with much too many lives.
  22. For me, SMW is a little dull when set next to SMB2 or 3, and its really not all that hard unless your wanted the beat the star road or special world levels, then those are a pretty good challenge. Haha, also loved the mini games of SMB3, I remember me and my sister fighting over who got to get them, especially in water world where you get to take the boat to them.
  23. I have never seen one pop up on eBay, but I thought it would be cool to own one of those clones that has 100+ games in 1 built right into it. Isnt there an Australian one that claims to have 500-in-1?
  24. I scored 3 of those cases at a trade center for $6 Unfortunately they are not worth much, but they sure do look nice with the system and games in it. I was lucky, and ended up with one built for the 2600, one for the Intellivision, and one for an NES. They look great together! Unfortunately, I stepped on the lid to the one for the 2600
  25. Whoops. My reply was a bit angry, so I guess what I was trying to say is, if someone works on a nice sprite set, especially if someone paints a nice piece of box art for you, then give credit where credit is due. This can work the other way around too, for example, an artist has a website made for them, so the artist then gives credit to the web designer, who must know java/ html. I totally understand when people cant get a cut of the money, producing carts is more about the fun and passion than the money made off them. But anyone who helped on it should get credit. Thats the same with any gaming company, ie, the guy who did the box art for Diablo got credit, and has become a successful artist. I would gladly contribute box art or sprites, and for free too.
