Thanks for posting that, that was incredibly awesome!!

Just a topic starter. Personally, I would like to see Doom on any system after 2600 but before NES. Obviously a true FPS isnt possible, but something like AD&D Treasure of Tarmin (Minotaur) would be pretty cool. I would also like to a 3 screen side scrolling Mario game for the 2600, the third level would be something like the end of the castles in SMB1, where the bridge dissapears and Koopa falls into the lava. I imagine this using the Mario/ Luigi sprites from the 2600 Mario Bros. Also, I would love to do Cartridge/ Instruction/ Sprite art!

I wouldnt do it to someone I know or feel friends with, but thats me, im not a re-seller, I dont live off of it. However, there are plenty of people that re-sell for a living. I agree, by low, sell high, thats just how it works, otherwise we wouldnt have re-sellers :-( What kinda world would that be?

If you get a chance, open her up and take a good look at the connector points. I know my first intellivision had almost exactly what you described happen. It turned out that a point needed re soldering. Also, it wold give you a chance to clean her up inside. I do highly recommend getting an Intv II if you get a chance. They are slightly more reliable, and the detachable power supply/ controllers are plus. Donkey Kong and a couple other Coleco games do not work (DK Jr does work however). I will be selling an Intv II + ECS and System Changer with some games here soon.

Hey, I've found someone that DOESN'T like ATARI
jeremysart replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I grew up with the 2600, and there a quite a few good games that are worth playing on it. However, I believe that was all meant to be a joke, and I did find it pretty humorous, especially the artists rendition of "75 %" of all 2600 games lol! Jokes are funny if you dont take them serious. I got a laugh out of it, but I still love my woody! Infact, I think im gonna go pop in chopper command. -
What's your favorite videogame sound effect?
jeremysart replied to lushgirl_80's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Haha, my mom hated when I played that game back in the day. Man, that seems like yesterday, I remember the commercials for that game. -
Damn, where did you get that shelve? Its perfect for the Intv II and its hardware! I came across a synthesizer in the box for $25, I snatched it up!

I have a jr sitting on display, but generally I have most recently used the INTV system changer just to test it out, and the 7800 because I recently picked up some new games for it. But when I want the full nostalgic experience, I use my 4 switch woody.
-
No, I totally agree. I have two modern TV's in my game room for all my old consoles.. however, my woody is hooked up to an old wood grain tv. I even have a matching faux wood grain "game center" for the 2600.

From Commodore 64 to Atari 400, Coleco Adam to IBM 5150, from Intellivision II to SNES.. many of these good old systems have one large thing in common: Yellowing (like teeth after too much coffee ) So does anyone have any suggestions or methods for restoring these beasts former beauty that you can share with the community?

The only part of Super Mario World that treads on my patience are the Special World levels. Man, those levels piss me off, and their goofy names. And I can totally agree with the annoyance of the scrolling levels. Though I dont have a problem sitting through SMB3 and beating it.. I usually avoid the scrolling levels and world 7 at all costs (whistle!).

Just curious, im mainly looking for the data recorder and printer, but im sure i'll have to buy the Aquarius too, which I dont mind.

This reminds me of "Doom" for the 2600. http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/8691/vcsdoom.jpg http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/8691/vcsad.jpg http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/8691/vcsscrn1.jpg

Its so hard to remember. I believe it was Space Invaders, but it could have been Combat.. or Frogger.. or Pitfall.. lol As far back as I can remember I played a lot of 2 player Combat with my sister.
-
1. Megamania 2. Mario Bros. 3. Chopper Command 4. Space Jockey 5. River Raid 6. Pitfall 7. Frogs and Flies 8. Donkey Kong 9. Donkey Kong Jr. (I always liked the very crude versions of these games) 10. Asteroids Most of these games hold a special level of nostalgia. I remember playing these games like crazy with my sister and cousins. Mario Bros was always one of my favorites, and man when I got the next three on NES! But thats for another forum :-)

I'm getting this game in the mail in a couple days. I'll have to see which version I have. Any other Saturn games with odd cover/spine issues? None that im aware of, but I wouldnt be all too surprised. Do these label anomalies bring up the value or rarity? I have a sealed copy of Doom.. too bad it happens to be the worst port ever lol.

I'm surprised more people don't use Big Lot's shelves. They come from the same suppliers as Target's stuff, and it's over 50% cheaper. $40 sounds high until you go to Target and realize that would cost you over 100-200 bucks. I think Wal-Mart sells them at prices closer to that Big Lots price, but even the Big Lots ones are kinda high for what they are: sawdust press board that's over-heavy and under-strong/durable. I find solid wood shelves in alleyways for free, or super cheap on Craig's List. Exactly! Free or CL is the way to go. My wife also made me a pretty sweet little shelf to accommodate my Atari computers and colecovision. It sits in my game room, I love it there.

I have a copy of the game Astal, and it has no title on the spine. Of all my Saturn games its the only one with out any words or logo on the spine.

The Saturn version was terrible yes, but I wouldnt say that the Jag version owned, I mean, the lack of music is no good. The only good ports were SNES and PSX. Now, before anyone starts about the SNES port being chuggy and blocky, keep in mind it was one of the only ports that kept all of the original music (actually sounded better in my opinion), all of the original secrets, all three episodes, and all weapons and enemies.. which to me is much more important than graphics and speed (ie, 32x port was pretty, and fast, but lacked decent music, half the levels, no bosses, and no bfg :-( so basically it was like playing the shareware version). I actually created a Doom mod recently. Its a TC, but I cant get the midis to work.. however, this WAD will replace ALL textures, sprites, graphics, enemies, weapons and sounds. If anyone is interested in making levels for this, let me know. Also, it would be a great deal of help, and add to the legitimate Mario atmosphere if I could send someone the midis to be converted to .mus, or if someone could put them in there. Well, here it is, check out! I recommend running this with Edge, using DOOM. http://www.mediafire.com/file/vkzxrmwmmj3/Doomed%20Super%20Mario.zip Please play through enough levels before commenting back! Thanks Once again, I strongly recommend using EDGE since that is the engine I used to test this(obtainable through doomworld.com) to run this, simply drag the wad into the edge icon. Not all computers will run this. Man, there are FAR too many custom wads out there for me to pick a favorite :-)

Why not a 2600/Coleco/Intv 3-in-1 system?
jeremysart replied to jeremysart's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Shove them all in one case, with differant out puts for joy sticks, 3 power adapters, and hook-ups! VIOLA! Its that 3 in one youve been dreaming about! But,really, a 3 in one intelly, coleco, and 2600 shouldnt be that hard... we already have a 2600 on a Chip. It would take a year or two to make Coleco and Intelly on a Chip(s), but worth it! Wow, you have no idea. A year or two to make a console on a chip? It doesn't work that way, it's not some magical thing, that will just work with time. It's like solving a problem with 100 plus variables, and your only given is, maybe X is less than seven, or maybe not. Cram them in the same case sure, but then your stuck with a gross box, and you wonder to yourself, if it was so bad having three consoles in the first place. Yeah, shoving them all in one box would defeat the purpose, which is space saving (the reason I have me gen, nes, and snes on display, and the trio 3-in-1 hooked up to the tv.) I guess the sales wouldn't justify the development cost, but really, if it can be done with snes, or genesis, im sure it wouldn't take over two years to develop these systems on a chip. Isnt there already an Intv on a chip anyway, I have several plug and play Intv games.. It was just an idea. It would be fun flipping back and forth between the three without the hassle of all the tangle cords and rf switches ya know? Plus, it would just make a fun addition to any collection. -
Haha, I too use a metal filing cabinet. It has two sliding drawers which fit 2600 carts perfectly.

BEST MOMENTS OF VIDEO GAME HUMOR
jeremysart replied to retrorussell's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Pretty much most of Duke Nukem 3D. "Come on, whatta ya waitin for, Christmas?" "Damn, im looking good." "Ive got balls of steel." When you kick someone off the edge of a building or cliff in Double Dragon. Type in god mode for Doom (iddqd) while playing Heretic. Also, turning yourself or enemies into chickens in that game is pretty funny too. Pretty much all of Shadow Warrior. "Would you like to wash wang, or would you like to watch wang wash wang?" -
I see a lot of "Turbo Duo's" and "FC Twins", even NES + Gen console clones.. So with all the effort put into the second gen system clones, why has there not been an Atari/ Colecovision/ Intellivision clone? Shouldnt that be pretty simple? Also, would it be possble to have the system replicate 7800 since it is backward compatible with 2600, making it a 4-in-1. That would be cool. The only real difficult part would be designing the controller, which I guess something more like a coleco controller with a joystick instead of a stub would be acceptable. Just a thought.
