I thought the Bit Trip games were pretty fun. Then there is also Megaman 9 & 10.
-
I got it last night mainly for my kid to play
Suuure

I was strongly considering getting this game myself. I was thrown off a bit by the whole yarn thing, but after watching a few game play videos and hear nothing but good stuff about it, I might have to go grab up a copy.
Ive noticed my Wii library doubles my 360 library

..I cant believe they dont have Frostbite or Megamania.. or Space Invaders.. not even Pitfall?
It's an Atari compilation, not an Activision/Taito compilation.
Heh I am aware of that, try reading the whole thread next time .
Dont get me wrong, I own a lot of VCS carts, a lot of which my family bought new. And I would pay $$ for a good compilation, but the last good one I bought was Activision Anthology for PS2.. and before that.. Activision Anthology for Windows 3.1

(I guess I have a hard on for Activision)
Its a shame there arent better/ more games on the DS comp. though, it would make a nice addition along side INTV Lives!

Hello,
My girlfriend got me a Sega CD model 1, it came with a Model 1 genesis (with the HD graphics text). The problem is that I don't have a power cord for both units. I have a power adapter for the Genesis, just not the CD. What are some alternatives? I know the NES adapter will not work due to the fact the NES power adapter does not covert the electricity from AC to DC like the Genesis power adapter. I hear the Atari Flashback 2 power adapter should work, but I am unsure and dont want to risk killing a model 1 CD.
G2
Well, the Sega CD uses the same power cord as the Sega Gen models 1 & 2, 32X, and Game Gear. They are really a dime a dozen, so I would be careful and wait until you find a proper cord.
To help you out, the power adapter is 120v in and 9v out.

How about you try making your own Sonic game, people!
Haha.. well, good timing to drop into this thread.
Rather you have played Sonic 4 or not, or liked or disliked it for that matter, I suggest checking this out:
Because personally, I found this to be more fun to play than Sonic 4, and better looking in my opinion.
So far, its only a 3 level demo, and they could use cleaning up some of the over used vines, but other than that, this is pretty amazing.

No, this is not just a shopped up peice of fan art.. this is the actual game, screen is taken straight from the playable demo.

Intellivision II Console - New In Box
You shouldn't post stuff like that here, it certainly wont earn you any respect here.
Putting "New in box" on something that is clearly opened will not get you any sales, but instead no one from these forums will trust you. And for the record, a used INTV II, boxed or not is worth $35-65 tops.

Yeah, dead giveaway on those Doom carts, expecially the "E" rating
I've never seen GBA Doom I or II that wasn't a bootleg. I'm not sure they even exist for real. Great ports none the less
AX
I happen to own both Doom and Doom II for GBA, but mine are not bootleg, as I bought them from Meijer's Grocery when I worked worked there back when the GBA was relatively new.
I remember being stoked that the games were being released for the GBA since its once of my favorite games and all.
To be honest, Doom for the GBA is a terrible port lacking half the levels, and no bosses.. BUT, Doom II on the other hand, is EXCELLENT, to the T a 99% accurate port, and very fun to play on the GBA. The only difference you will find is, green blood, and level 15 I believe (one of the big city levels anyway) is split into two levels because of the size.
They are also super fun to link up and play multi-player.
If you like these games on the GBA, you might like Duke Nukem Advance. Its an exact port of Duke Nukem 3D pretty much, just with all new levels. I felt like I was just playing one of the Duke 3D expansion packs.
Wolfenstein 3D on the GBA was also good.. but it was missing the music

Hey, if you took them out of he trash, I would be more than happy to buy them as spares (or force some poor unsuspecting soul to play with me), boot leg or not.
-
I was looking for Duke Nukem action figures when I stumbled across these.
Hey, they dont pop up everyday, and I am not buying them, but I figured someone would be interested.
There are a lot of people that dont even believe this game exists (it really shouldnt).

Wow a Saturn love thread, and I just noticed it. Yes, welcome friend to the dark side. If you have the round button unit get a racketboy mod, if not to try out stuff that is unattainable, then for the ability to keep your expensive titles safe. They only run $28 and they are simple as heck to install. I've got one in my kiosk. Plus you can region patch import images to bypass having to play with the cart slot and a action replay. While I have over 100 CIB titles in my Saturn collection now, I'd never let my kids touch the discs. It's one of their favorite systems, and CDRs are 10 cents

AX
I would like to hear it from YOU.
What are the top 25 Saturn gams, in your opinion?

Wow, those are really good. I would be interested to see what other sprites she could make out of perler beads.
She should really make a http://www.deviantart.com account and post picture of them on there. Im telling you, deviant is saturated, especially with gamers, she'll get instant comments and requests the moment she posts them. Also try Etsy, its a website strictly for selling hand made stuff, nothing like eBay.
The forums here arent really the best place because you have to keep bumping or reposting it, and then people start to get annoyed. But they would for sure get exposure on Deviant/ Etsy, and be sure to post new ones in the Market Place forum here on AA!

Didn't Miyamoto say the whole DKC series was a mistake? Apparently, Nintendo thinks it's a potentially lucrative mistake.

I believe he apologized for that comment later on. I think he was kind of mad about the pressure he was getting to have Yoshi's Island use the same art style as DKC (as indicated by the intro, which has some of the graphics pre-rendered 3D).
I really enjoy the art style in Yoshi's Island, but one has to wonder what it would look like if it were done in DKC pre-rendered style, or by Rare back in the day.
I pre-ordered DKCR, but I am still worried that its going to be dissapointing. I really hope they have more enemies to offer than those tiki things that have no personality, at least not like the Kremlings..

What are they trying to do, make me relive my youth? Although this one is not by Atari.
I just saw this on Amazon. I hate to say it but I'm curious.

Hmm, no youtube videos yet either.
I am kind of curios. It would be nice if it was a real game, and not just some crappy collection of themed puzzles weve seen over and over again on the Wii.
That would be really cool actually, going on the whole adventure and seeing the Abominable Snowman. Even cooler if it included the animation on the disk..
Hehe "Silver and gold, silver and gold".

I think Ubisoft did a great job in creating a new game with a new playing style so I certainly don't fault them too much, however always entering the city the exact same way for each city in the game seemed a little weak.
I was thinking the same thing! It would have been at least a tiny bit better if they explained it off as the people you "blend" with, as hired by the Assassins to help sneak you in. But no, just random chanting people in white robes that instantly stat moving when you enter their group
I just think more developers could learn from the amount of detail and art put into the game.
-
Sorry to rain on anyones parade, but thats not that great of a list, and they could have had well more than 50 games to span 2 volumes
Besides, I have an R4 card, and StellaDS with EVERY Atari rom loaded on to it.
..I cant believe they dont have Frostbite or Megamania.. or Space Invaders.. not even Pitfall?

HAHAHA!! They think pirating is bad now.. go ahead, make BUYING used games illegal.. then I will hence forth pirate everything and NEVER buy another new or used game again.
Anyay.. there will still be craigslist. They cant tell us we cant sell our own stuff amung each other.. That just makes no sense. If I bought it, and own it, I have the right to give it away, sell it, or trade, I dont givec a #$%^& what ANYONE says.
Driving off a cliff is indeed what they are trying to do I guess.

Did Nintendo upset EA at some point between the N64 era and the Gamecube era? It seem around that point they started completely ignoring Nintendo or giving it watered down ports. Apparently its being done to the handhelds also.
Let's see, N64 arrived too late to really challenge Playstation and with an inconvenient and expensive media format as a result they lost all their devs with only Nintendo themselves and Rare supporting the console in the end.
Gamecube also lost to PS2 again, with mainly Nintendo themselves supporting the system. The really good third party games, there weren't many of and most of those could also be had on PS2 or XBOX.
Wii is just a high powered Gamecube with motion controllers and the game situation for Wii is a virtual wasteland, again, Nintendo's games are ok, a handful of good third party stuff, and the rest (about 90% of the games on store shelves) being crap.
The reasons for EA distancing themselves from Nintendo should be readily apparent.
I agree with you for the most part, but I am not so sure if I would really call it "losing" to Sony per say, when sales and love for Nintendo have never been bad. Also, though there is admittedly an ass load of shovel wear for the Wii, there are actually a LOT of good games for the system! 70% of them are 1st party, but thats besides the point I guess. My library consists of a few Playstation games, a decent collection of 360, and a whole lot of Wii games.

I posted in another thread about some financial trouble. Thought this might help us out. My wife makes those perler beads into game characters. I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before and you may have seen them on the internet. My wife has made several and would like to make others if there is anyone interested in buying a few. She charges $3 ea. + shipping and has many like Mario, Yoshi, Sonic, 1-ups, Mushrooms, etc. Let me know. I also posted many things up for sale in the marketplace as well. 2600 games and some import stuff.
http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/170855-big-lot-of-japanese-import-games-saturn-sfc/
Perhaps you should post some pictures.
Do you guys have an eBay or Etsy account or anything where you sell these?

Great topic Armonigann!
Its neat to read others memories and experiences with games.
Video game (as well as music) are definitely mental time machines. I think thats why when games are remade, they can almsot never live up to the original, because they cannot replace the memories or nostaliga associated with the original.
It all started with the Atari 2600 for me. To this day, when I pop in an old cartridge, I feel like I am 4 again, sitting with my sister in the dining room on the leather bench, my dad playing Boston or Pink Floyd on LP. We love to play Combat, Mario Bros, Space Invaders, Frogs and Flys, as well as Fishing Derby together. I would watch my dad play Megamania for an hour straight to see his high score, or watch him and my mother duke it out in Asteroids.
We ended up with a CV and INTV around the same time. I remember the INTV II was broken, but it was me, a 5 year old at the time, that opened it up and discovered that the part the ac adapter plugs into needed re soldered. Because I had only previously seen the 2600, I was blown away when I popped Bump n' Jump into the system. So much color, that nice tune, and no flickering!
Then not long after, my parents came home with this strange little grey box that you put cartridges into like a vcr.
Playing Super Mario Bros 3 ALWAYS takes me back to 1990, sitting on the bench passing the controller back and forth. Thinking that world 5 was the last world because you start off only seeing 3 levels and a strange new castle. Getting the Tanooki suit for the first time. Yes, this game was IT, the first of its kind, SMB3 was huge, it was like going on a long adventure!
Yoshi's Island and DK Country hold the same type of nostalgia for me.
I think some of the strongest feeling though, come from the N64.
Ahh, playing the N64 brings me back. Sitting in my friends basement, going head to head in Goldeneye 007 on the big rear projecting tv. Countless hours passing the controller off collecting stars in Suoer Mario 64, or dog fighting in Starfox 64. I will never forget the first time playing through Turok with the big cheat.
Countless hours playing Twisted Metal 2, and Need for Speed II: Hot Pursuit with my cousin in their basement during our proclaimed "happy hour" of gaming after his mom was asleep
But the top game that holds nostalgia and memory for me, Mario Kart 64

..or wait, was it Doom? Yeah, it was probably Doom. Who could forget the first time they played THAT game?
Oh.. I am too nostalgic.

Great to see a Saturn thread pop up out of the void!
It is certainly a great and often over-looked console.
So far my library consists of Nights, Command & Conquer, Astal, Doom, Hexen, Alien Trilogoy, and Darklight.
I have been hoping to build on my collection, so I will be looking into some of the suggestions posted in this thread

My thoughts exactly, and VC dont count.
Nintendo is long over due for a nice compilation of timeless classics.
I am truley surprised too that their Anniversary Collection is just Mario All Stars and didnt include other early Mario titles.
