  1. Just made a decent score on the bay.

    For $12.62 + $6.99 sh, I got the whole LOGO package, Smart Basic, a blank DDP, Buck Rogers, but the biggest reason I bid on it;

    DRAGONS LAIR!

I have always wanted to play the ADAM version of the game, I was really impressed by videos I have seen, but never thought I would have a chance to own a physical copy to play on my own ADAM.

Now if I could only get ahold of Super Donkey Kong/ Super Donkey Kong Jr.. (wouldnt it have been funny if they had published a "super" mario bros.?)

  2. Haha, I guess we all fall victim to wanting our library built up.

How is Two World by the way?

I picked it up for like $10 @ GS but have yet to try it out. Must be half decent if a sequel is planned.

  3. What the hell is so strange about the concept? They did it with all of their other games. There is already a DVD collection that has cut scenes from WarCraft II, Diablo, Diablo II and StarCraft.

This is not at all surprising.

I might even buy it if they made some extra scenes to tie all of the cut scenes together to make an actual cg movie.

Thats pretty much all the Final Fantasy movies are anyway.. or Beouwulf for that matter lol.

  4. Didn't they release Super Mario Bros 2j on the virtual console?

Yeah, but thats not a beta or unreleased game, it just wasn't release in the US. I mean games that never made it out the doors, that were in development but got dropped near then end.

There was a huge line up of SuperFX2 games that dropped because of the eminent release of the "Ultra 64", such as Comanche (and Statfox 2/ Super Mario FX).

  5. It could easily be great if they feature something special with those old games.

Achievments, HD graphics, save states, high score competitions (see Game room for Xbox360), artwork, onlineplay, bonus Nintendo club points.

ANYTHING to make it more than what it is!

Why buy a game again you already have or can play through an emulator?

When it first came out I supported it but then I stopped buying the games cause I felt like I was being ripped off. Afterall I HAD the games I was re-buying!! They offer NOTHING other than a downloadable copy of the game you already have. It doesn't make sense.

Once again, they could easily make it fantastic by giving us something other than just a copy of a game we probably have.

It's unfortunate but its been worthless for a while now especially with homebrew.

    Totaly agree with you there.

They could really take some advice from XBLives game room. The virtual arcade is a pretty cool concept. This could easily be done with the mii's. Where you could intereact with other people's mii's that are online and "walking" around through the arcade, and even play with them.

  6. Why not put the Super Mario allstars on VC and promote it really good? its exactly the same thing.

Because they sell the 4 titles in their NES incarnations for a total of $21, compared to the typical $8 price point for SuperNes releases. They don't want to devalue the NES releases by selling this for $8 and they surely don't want to triple the price of a Virtual Console release by upping the price to accomodate this title.

Selling it as a physical disc is letting them get this out there at a proper price point that doesn't kill sales of the NES titles, doesn't make people that bought the NES titles feel ripped off that better versions are being made available for a fraction of the cost, and offers customers something more of value for their $30 then just a download.

You can justify it all you want, but I think it is kind of lame to just re-release All-Stars as the 25 anniversary.

I have all of those games on VC alread between NES and SNES, I have it for the actual SNES and I play it all the time on my portable SNES. I have the rom on ever hacked console I have, and on my computer..

If I buy it, it will merely be for colectors sake. But they really could have thrown together something slightly flashier with updated music, and maybe a couple extra games and some other features. Bahh.

    *EDIT*

Ok, I take some of that back, it comes with a soundtrack, a book, and "previously unseen development", which I really hope includes anything from Super Mario FX development for the SNES. It was in development for years before being dropped. Some peices of it went on to become Super Mario 64.

  7. Can you recommend a "doom-like" game for the Wii or Gamecube?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will see if I can find these on Ebay. Is Doom 4 being released on the Wii also?

Doubtful, but believe me, I am every bit for being able to play Doom on everything possible as you are!

I know if your not afraid to have your Wii modded with the HB channel, there is a HB Wii port of Doom that you can use the Wiimote with.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVkAiWYMJew

You CAN play Doom and Doom II (Doom II port is WAY better) on the Game Cube if you get ahold of the GBA ports of Doom, and the Gameboy Player for the GC. You can go full screen with it too :)

  8. Not even talking about 3rd party titles, because I could see where licensing restrictions would get in the way, but what about releasing official info/ pictures or a playable polished Star Fox 2?

Or Super Mario FX? There is NO rom or screen shots from Super Mario FX out there, yet it was in development on the SNES for year before being abandon and changed into Super Mario 64.

Just a thought.. I know people would go crazy over this stuff!

  9. It really all depends.

What kind of a challenge are you looking for?

What kind of game envoronment do you enjoy?

They both have pros and cons to consider.

Fable II was an easier game, which I enjoyed, it was being able to easily beat this game the brought me into modern gaming (up until Fable, the only modern games I had played were games on the Wii like NSMB, Mario Kart, Mercury Melt Down etc).

The environments are pretty, and it is a pretty fun game.

But be warned, once you beat the game, own everything, and have completed most of the side quests, it can lose its replay value pretty fast. At most you can play the game four times, man/woman, good/evil.

You can probably pick this game up for $20 or less by now.

    Fallout 3.

Excellent, in depth game.. but the one flaw (imo anyway) is everything has to be brown. Its that damn modern game brown thing. Brown sky, brown ground, brown facial hair, brown buildings.. I just can stomach it. I mean, I understand its the post apocolyose, everything is dead and polluted.. but would it really hurt to have more than one primary color on the screen at once?

Either way, you can easily score both games for under $20. So $35-42 for both games, still $20 less than one new game. Try both of em.

  10. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I do like the stuff on Arcade, but I was reffering to full boxed games. I forgot, I go have Mass Effect, thats a great game. I like stuff that uses a lot of color.. I cant stand all of the "brown" games out there these day. Thats why I am iffy on Fallout 3, it looks really fun, and probably is a good game (I love the whole post-appocolypse thing), but the color scheme kills me, all brown and muck green. I think thats why I enjoyed Fable II and Mass Effect so much, those games were afraid to use more than one primary color on the screen at any given time.

I already have Dragon Age for the PC, both Awakwening and Origins.

Cool, I'm going to check out the suggested games and hopefully pick out a couple.

One other question.. I was thinking about selling my 360 and some games to get the newer slim model with built in wifi. Is there a great reason to get the 250g model over the 4g? I hate how they did it like that... how can you go from 4 gigs to 250?? It should have been at least 80 & 250g models.

  11. I'm always here for the artwork aspect. I also have a lot of well thought out creative ideas.

It has been one of my dreams since I was a kid to design the graphics and box art for an Intellivision game, since after all, it is my favorite console (or at least very closely tied with the VCS).

If you have not seen my work already, feel free to check out the link in my sig, or wait for upcoming releases from CollectorVision.

I think soon I will brainstorm, come up with a plausible, original idea, and "story board it" with illustrations.

With games like Thunder Castle and Tower of Doom, and home brew/ demos I have seen like Space Patrol and Castle.. a lot is possible on this great and under appreciate console.

  12. So my library for our 360 is pretty short, only consisting of Fable II, Oblivion, Two Worlds, Devil May Cry, Red Dead Redemption, and pre-ordered Fable III.

    Good games, but weak library.

I am in need of some fun, creative and imaginitive games, as well as some good two player titles.

Me and my wife mostly enjoy fantasy and action adventure games, but I am alway down for a good race, a fight, or anything creative.

Although one of my favorite games of all time is an FPS, Doom, thats about where my love for FPS games stop.. no call of duty for me. The only duty I'm calling is to the bathroom.

What am I missing out on?

    Thanks!

  13. I have taken apart and cleaned my CV without removing the label. As 5-11under stated, check the link.

Congrats on getting a CV. If there are three systems I charish most of all of my consoles, its my CV, VCS, and INTV.

The CV was ahead of its time, I will never forget the day I got mine when I was 7. We got Cosmic Avenger, Mr. Do!, Lady Bug, and Donkey Kong. And boy did I play me some Mr. Do! and Donkey Kong on that thing!!

  14. Intellivision sucks because Tennis is 2 player and I didnt realize it till the game came in the mail from that ebay seller. :P

Seriously Intellivision is good. Not as good as an Atari when you get down to it, but its a fun system with a lot of individuality. The Intellivision 1 is very retro looking these days. Dragon Fire and Beauty and the Beast are good. I also like the He-man game, and Pacman.

    Donkey Kong is horrible.

How is Defender on the Intellivision?

Oh yeah, forgot about the Pac Man port for INTV, it is one of the best. Looks and sounds just like the arcade, and has the cut scenes.

I have to admit though, it is much more enjoyable if you have a joystick adapter.

  15. I've finalized the Box, Jeremy has done all the artworks, Jeremy is an AWESOME artist!

You guys/gals won't believe how cool the box is!

    Thanks!

I am proud to have gotten to work on the art for this game in particular. I have always heard rumors about the game, and now we are going to have our own dungeon crawler for the CV/ ADAM community, that is awesome.

I really wanted to come up with something that summed up the title of the game, and feel like I acheived that. I was worried it would not be finished in time, and though it was fun to work on, I am releived that it is finsihed!

Too excited to play this game! Can't wait for the release :)

  16. My father is not into many games, but he does really enjoy pinball. Being in his 60's, that's what he grew up with.

For his upcoming birthday I'd love to be able to find a handheld pinball game. I've done some checking in major stores, though, and can't find anything. Does such a thing exist? Or will have to hunt around on Amazon and EBay and the like to try to find a affordable older model?

Failing that, he also really enjoyed Arkanoid -- which is just a fancy version of Breakout. If I can't find him a handheld pinball game, I'd settle for breakout.

The handheld breakout by MGA is better than the handheld pinball. But you have to hunt it down on eBay. There is a decent handheld pinball at BigLots though in the toy section.

Also, you might be able to find one of those plug n' play joysticks like the jakks pacific ones that has arkanoid already on it.

  17. I cant/Even Read and or your/thread because its/ too long and or hurts my/eyes. :(

But to answer the question, there is no answer. There are both good homebrew games, I own a few.. and there are good original games.

There are bad homebrew games, and there are bad (and even TERRIBLE) original games. Its all the same.

But you have to give homebrewers credit for their dedication and ability to publish the game, which is not cheap.

  18. Well for starters, try these games:

    Thunder Castle

Tower of Doom (harder to find)

    Dreadnaught Factor

    Bump n' Jump

    Shark Shark

    Atlantis

    Dragonfire

    Tropical Trouble

    Utopia (if you have patience)

    Snafu

    Tron Deadly Disks

These are some very fun games, and you can only find about 5 of them on other consoles (and dont look nearly as good or play as well)

Also, come on, its as nice looking system, especially if you come across a System III.

The controllers are easy to get past after playing a while, they are not that bad, and you can find the joystick adapters made by INTV on eBay.

  19. I picked classic gaming, because for me, 90% of the time thats where its at.

It was playing video games and making art that MADE my childhood, and who I am.. and I still love those same games every bit as much today as I did back then.

No games will ever match titles like Warlords, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros, Pitfall, River Raid, Megamania, Asteroids, Atlantis, etc.

Even up through the 90's, with games like Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario Kart, Wolfenstein 3D, and DOOM.

Some of the best games ever, and they never get old.

But I do agree, times are changing, and simpler, challenging, fun, and creative games are making to the market now, thanks to digital downloads. Even some of the exclusive titles sold in store, like New Super Mario Bros, Little Big Planet, and the coming Donkey Kong Country Returns, and even a remake of GoldenEye 007 on the way.
