  1. Just watched the vid. Man I had no idea the Intellivision was so impressive for the time. Makes Atari look like *remembers he’s at Atari Age* wow, great weather we’re having!
  2. No! Collectorvision would claim it, then release 'Atari' games on Master System that I'd miss out on because they can't find enough donor carts and I'd cry.
  3. This is how I'm approaching it. It's a really styley looking little PC. It may not be a powerhouse but at that price I don't think it's too bad for a PC, considering the size/convenience. I wouldn't mind one for everyday PC stuff. I had an Alienware Alpha and I loved it and that was way more expensive. Sadly I don't think it will ever come out, though. Atari really ballsed this one up.
  4. I'm guessing the Amico one tastes better - not being 40 years old and all that
  5. It’s December 3! Where’s the press release? Oh wait, I forgot I live in the future. Stupid time zones. Another day to wait... waaaaaah!
  6. Can't wait for this release. I LOVE Moon Patrol. I still remember being in an arcade when I was a kid and seeing it and my mum wouldn't give me 20c to play it. A passerby even said "give the boy 20c", lol. I was so gutted I never got to play it... maybe why I love playing it to this day.
  7. But by god does he do ‘em well. Tempest 2000 and Tempest 4000 are incredible. Can’t say I’ve ever played 3000 as I’ve never even seen a Nuon... but no, he makes other games too, haha.
  8. Oh cool, thanks! Got to admit it will be pretty rad to play old school Intellivision games for the first time on a brand new Intellivision console
  9. Sorry if this has been mentioned but will the original games be available with the remakes? Be cool to be able to experience both. Pretty sure the Intellivision never made it to NZ. At least, I never saw one. Hell, even the 2600 wasn't super common as most families opted for the cheaper (and crappier) Fountain Force 2.
  10. This is EXACTLY why I want an Amico. I'm a massive gamer - I play them, make them and have a room dedicated to them (we only live in a humble three bedroom home and one of them is ALL MINE). Problem is my girlfriend isn't into them at all. And when she does try she gets frustrated by the controls. And retro games don't help because they tend to be too hard. I also have a 9 month old and I want to be able to create some damned cool couch co-op family memories! That reminds me - I hate the term couch co-op. In my day it was just multiplayer. Haha.
  11. Hey mate, thanks for the reply. Haha, weird you said you prefer the North Island - most visitors say the South Island because of the scenery etc. I'm a proud Aucklander (the most hated people in New Zealand, lol). I just visited the Intellivision website and the games running in the vid definitley look fun! What's the top down racer? It's only shown for a split second but I want to play it already (racers are my jam) - and the one with the cars on the figure 8 track! It's funny - the other day I watched Elon Musk's reveal of the Cybertruck and I was thinking "what the hell is that god awful thing? This must be a joke!" but the more I look at it, the more I realise it's about the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life and I want (but can't afford) one! It was the same with the Amico - I think that's the thing with products that break away from 'the norm'. I now absolutely love the design of the Amico (even though I'm guilty of making the odd footbath joke initially) - so much so that I'm honestly torn as to which colour scheme I'll go for - and as I said, I'm super intrigued about the controllers. Anyway, good to talk to you. I've been a big fan ever since reading an interview with you in a gaming mag back in the Genesis days. I actually used to buy games if I saw they had your name attached as I was (and still am) really into the music side of things and you'd become what Rob Hubbard was to me in the '80s - which reminds me, I recently added Wild 9 to my collection and I've yet to play it! Not trying to kiss your butt or anything, it's just true, haha. BIG fan of Dave Perry, too. People who create what they want to create rather than what they think will be commercially successful will always get my vote - RC Stunt Copter was genius (and I still suck at it)! I take the same approach to my game dev (after years of taking the opposite approach with mobile games and failing miserably and generally feeling crap about myself), which is why I'm now making a Mega Drive game - because it's fun. If it sells, it sells. If it doesn't, I had a heap of fun making it and I'm learning all the time. I honestly believe that eventually the success comes as a biproduct of the passion. I mean, it worked for Elon! Anyway, I reckon you'll have a huge hit on your hands with Amico.
  12. Ah I see. I’m all good with 2D style games but I’d love to see some actual 2D stuff too. Hoping Earthworm Jim will be that In all honestly I can’t wait to see how the controllers work. Rather than just say “no one plays games like that” I want to experience it myself and see what kind of awesome control schemes developers come up with. I’m really excited for something different! I’m thinking football games where each player can choose their play without the others seeing it etc. Kinda like the Dreamcast VMU but better
  13. Holy crap - I just caught up on the Pat/Ian vs Tommy thing. I unsubbed from them ages ago because they were getting more and more arrogant. They talk about “journalistic integrity” yet it’s blatantly obvious that the subjects they talk about on their podcast they are only learning about as they read from their laptops. They research nothing. Tommy, they treated you with utter disrespect and I get the feeling they just trash talk everything to try and get clicks... I’m not sure why they think that would work. Anyway, I’ll admit I was sceptical of the Amico at first. Especially after the Coleco Chameleon, but then I heard your name (and other industry vets) was involved and I listened to what you had to say and I started to gain confidence in the console. I had a baby boy earlier in the year and I’ve already told my partner that we’re getting an Amico to play as a family and I’m looking forward to it! I do have one question/bit of criticism though. Earlier you talked about the Amico being a 2D powerhouse and brought up Cuphead and how the devs said it was really pushing modern consoles. I’m guessing that’s to do with so many frames of high resolution textures eating up VRAM? Anyway, I bring this up as the only Amico gameplay I’ve seen has been 3D and pretty basic at that. Now I understand it’s not meant to compete with PS5 etc and it’s going to be all about the fun, which I’m 100% onboard with but, where’s this amazing 2D stuff you promised? Anyway, I just thought I’d offer my support. You have a day one buyer here. I’ve been a fan of your work since the Mega Drive days too, so Pat can stick his “more people know who I am” comment up his arrogant ass. You’ve got to where you are because of passion and hard work. They got to where they are (which is nowhere in the grand scheme of things) by being nasty. Cheers!
  14. Gotta say I'm pretty impressed with this thing and I was very wary, considering AtGames' history. Shame they're not available in NZ but I'm very happy with my Pi powered Arcade1up and Sanwa parts. Now if only they were bringing that Star Wars cab to my home country... lol.
  15. Not trolling, genuinely interested - in what way did Polymega bullshit? You mean the FPGA stuff or something else?
  16. It does look very cool and the "350 Games" isn't anywhere near as obvious as I thought due to the angle. Really keen to see some games running. I want a cabinet for the man cave and it's probably cheaper to import one of these than buy a custom built one here - not to mention I really only like to buy licenced stuff. In fact the only games on my various emulators are games I physically own. Ok I do have a fully loaded Raspberry Pi but let's ignore that. LOL
  17. Side art peeling off isn't a good look. Hopefully this isn't a production model? EDIT - Actually I think it might be the art itself - not actually peeling off... just looked like it on my phone screen - apologies!
  18. I guess that makes sense for the display units. Not a biggie anyway, it looks very cool. Hopefully someone will carry them over here in little old New Zealand.
