I honestly think it would be good to create a thread with most up to date information. Like the press release says 149-179 but the most recent is under 200. It is getting hard to keep track of everything.
I feel like I said this before but this was a fun family multiplayer on the NES from Data East. My family played a lot of Caveman Games it would be cool to see it again reimagined.
Played the hell out of that on C64 as a kid. My mates and I had so much fun throwing our 'wives', haha. You could never make that game these days! Haha. Also, it had a cooler name on C64 - Caveman Ugh-lympics.

Yeah, I bought the 64GB version on launch. Can't say I've needed the extra space... I think you're right to wait.

Okay, I've tried a few times in the past and failed but I finally have my head around how asm works (thanks to studying computer science and touching on it at uni) and I found a Udemy course on how to program in assembly by making a 2600 game - seems pretty good, so far though I don't assume it will get into super advanced techniques. I'm just stoked there is a course like this available in 2020 (and I've actually learnt new stuff in areas I thought I had covered). Now it's not my chosen console but it's a good place to start as many other systems have some sort of 6502 within. I reckon the limitations of the system will make things very interesting and fun!
So yeah, I'm just gonna mess about making a few silly small games and demos and I'll be sure to show them off here and drop by for advice
Wish me luck!

I think I can (and will) collect all Amico games if there is only 1 new game per week at a maximum price of $ 10 !!! 😎(Apart from the ones that I will buy physically)
Tommy, speaking of that, from the 30-40 games available at launch, is it possible to know how many of them you think will be in physical form ?
Thank you.
Yeah, me too

You can put the Switch on Airplane mode on the quick menu. I had to use that since the Switch is too far from the router to keep a stable connection and drain the battery little less. PS4 is pretty hard to find what you're looking for, where's the download list?
However, the Switch store is kinda hard to navigate and browse. If I'm in a mood to get a new Switch game, I look on-line for videos and reviews on games. Then I use the search function on the Switch to type in the exact title to bring up the games. It'll disconnect you from the store if it lose the wifi signal.
As a New Zealander I feel your name is cultural appropriation 🤣🤣🤣

# Game lineup at launch will be under 40 titles. Probably under 30.
Yep. I would say that our line-up will be anywhere from 30 - 40 or so titles. Have said this from the start... so not really that much of a prediction.
I have to say this one cracks me up. 30-40 games is a CRAP TONNE of games for a launch. Not sure why they thought 'under 40' or even 'under 30' was bad. Most consoles launch with just a handful of games. I mean ten games on launch is more than enough to provide a lot of variety and as a bonus, if there were only ten games on launch I could afford all of them on Amico
Actually, now that I think about it - it may be the only console I'll ever be able to buy every game for as it's released!

They were kind of like choose your own adventure books, but you played them with dice and there were several options to go through the game. In the last year or so they started to make these for video game consoles. For the Switch there are The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy. Although I like them both, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is the slightly better one. I recommend both of them for some fun gaming.
These titles bring the fun of Dungeons and Dragons without the need for a Dungeon Master. The console takes the role of the Dungeon Master. I would love to see a game like this where multiple people can play. The different players could choose to venture off on their own to collect extra treasures or battle other creatures before meeting up again. This could be achieved with the screen on the controllers. The dungeon master could then state what is happening with both parties and could also state when they have split up or rejoined. Battles could be swayed by how many people are fighting them and adversely single players have a higher chance to sneak past various dangers. That would be a day one purchase for me.I loved those - I was a big fan of the Car Wars series, by Steve Jackson. So much fun as a kid. The fantasy ones were cool, too.
And I agree - your idea sounds epic.
EDIT: It seems they are printing the Fighting Fantasy books again: https://www.bookdepository.com/Fighting-Fantasy-Citadel-Chaos-Steve-Jackson/9781407181257?ref=grid-view&qid=1578176450876&sr=1-1
No Car Wars though

All this Amico vs Nintendo vs the other two talk is silly. Just buy every console and be happy. Haha.
Now that I think about it... I have bought (and sold) literally every mainstream console and hendheld since the Master System... I need help... or at least focus - my backlog is bigger than a hot dog eating champion's!

I've never encountered disc rot. Hope I never do as I have a fair bit of PSX, PS2 and Saturn stuff in my collection. I actually only started collecting disc based games again this year. I'd kinda gone off the whole moving parts console idea but the games are cheaper and I figured I'd build collections before prices get out of hand like they have for older systems.

Unless a poorly-designed system with worse cooling than a modern MacBook (i.e. BAD) and a cheaply-made plastic case are worth what's almost NZ$600 before shipping to you.
Well when you put it that way... haha.

Ah! Okay... now that I see the screen shots I remember the character (though I never played it). I'll check it out. Yeah... IREM has been GREAT with us and really love what we're doing. So it would be an easy pick-up for us.
I LOVED Shinobi! I approached Sega about it. We're in talks... but they take awhile to approve anything. But we've started down the path.Dude, Shinobi is my fave arcade game of all time. If you get that licence I may have to kiss you.

You know what game is like to see return? Nebulus! In think it was called Tower Toppler and/or Castelian in the US.
Anyway, the C64 version was incredible. It'd be awesome to have a 4 player split screen version, players racing to the top. Or even some sort of mechanic that requires players to work together to get up the tower.
Talk to Hewson. I'll code it! Haha.

Jedi is my favorite as well. Lots of folks of our generation will pick Empire. But I always thought Jedi was the best. Not gonna lie... I liked the Ewoks.
But mostly... that final battle music. So epic! Williams' best original work in my opinion.
I think it’s possibly nostalgia for me as it’s the first one I saw (in the theatre, too). But yeah, I love the Ewoks too! It’s the movie that introduced me to Star Wars.

Bringing things back to the VCS, if I've been messing with emulators for over 20 years and still run into roadblocks every now and then, what is Atari thinking by telling people they can use Sandbox Mode to get their own emulators? Sure, we all know that is what it could be used for, but if you use it as a selling point, you're kind of on the hook when buyers can't figure it out.
I need a copy of that game. I’d always avoided it because I’d assumed it was the same game as the MD version which I didn’t really like. Apparently it’s different though and much better. Shame it’s a bit pricey now.

It would be nice if you could just run everything through the stock menu like you could on the SNES Classic.
32X seems spotty on Retroarch, but I got Sega CD up and running. I played Terminator just to hear that amazing sound track.
Lol that's the second time I've been quoted and the Terminator CD soundtrack was mentioned today - the first was by the composer himself, haha.
I should add that Emulation Station is fantastic on Pi but I haven't and I'm not going to put it on the mini. I'll stick with stock menu which means MD games only

George supposedly wanted to introduce microscopic beings known as the "Whills" and around 1/3 of each movie would take place at the microscopic level. I don't know what other folks think of this but this sounds terrible. Maybe he could have pulled off something good but I lean towards 'no'. Supposedly George himself said that fans would hate his sequels more than the prequels.
I've seen it. Downsizing, starring Matt Damon. It was crap.

This is true. TBH I kinda like all of them, even the "rubbish" ones. I'm a Star Wars fan but I don't get overly involved or invested in the stories. I just like to be entertained. Return of the Jedi is my fave, followed either by Rogue One or Force Awakens
I really liked Solo, too.

Tempted to mod mine but those Retroarch and Boot Menu icons trigger my OCD. I want it to look 100% stock and just add the games I own. Guess I'll leave it untouched and continue Sega gaming on my Blast 16 powered MegaPi

23 minutes ago, Swami said:Lucas was hired as a consultant on The Force Awakens, but left because he wanted to make goofy kids movies instead of retro fan service movies . Second part there is his explanation, first part he said he wanted to make something new about families and fathers and sons. That's pretty much what it's been, though - both retro and family/parents/kids. I don't see the prequels as being either.
At the end of the day, Star Wars movies are kids' movies. We should really let them be the judge, haha.

And... Aren't we just blessed that Episodes 7, 8 & 9 turned out to be the greatest Star Wars films in the entire series because of that.🙄
Hell of a lot better than 1, 2 and 3 and he was heavily involved in those!

32 minutes ago, IntelliMission said:Hey Tommy, here's another crazy idea that, at the same time, can also be taken seriously and become a reality.
Now that we know (a rumor that says) that the new Xbox will come in three flavors ($550 with physical media, $400 digital only and $250 with limited graphics), perhaps you could release a second version of the Amico if the console turns out to be a success.
This model could be named Intellivision Enemico, or Intellivision Darkmico, and play all Amico family friendly games in addition to violent and free roaming, split screen 3D games (these games would not be playable on the Amico). A hardcore, offline multiplayer experience not suitable for children. A gift to the older Intellivision fans without children around. And an Intellivision console that finally could play Doom. ☠️
That really would just be a competitor for the PS5, Switch and Xbox, though, wouldn't it?
-
39 minutes ago, Blarneo said:Don't be surprised, that if Amico is wildly successful, Disney comes at you with a big fat check to buy Intellivision, and decides to sideline you & your team just like they did to George Lucas.
I can only dream that they'd do that to me... :D:D:D

Is it wrong that I kinda want one as a neat looking little PC? I mean it's not THAT pricey if you compare it to similar spec'd PCs and it looks a lot cooler. Weird way of marketing it though...
