Hmmm, I did make this proof of concept a few years ago... maybe I could do this game... hehehe. But seriously, it looks fun. One to add to the C64 play list! -

What pissed me off about the segment (I had to listen to it as I was hoping they may have changed their minds with the release) was the "it's mobile games". No. While the graphics may be around the level of mobile games (and some mobile games look friggin' amazing) they will not play anything like mobile games. Saying "why would I get this when I can play those sort of games on my phone" is idiotic. How can you play couch co-op on your phone? Also, pricing for me is a massive factor. Claiming people will just buy a Switch is also stupid. The Amico is much cheaper and the games at $3-10 is a hell of a lot more attrctive to families than Switch game prices - especially first party stuff. Not to mention there will be no ads and no IAP, which brings us back to mobile again - we all know games are utterly crippled with pay walls and subscription fees. Plus the Switch is still a pretty techie piece of kit. I can't imagine my mother knowing how to use one as soon as she picks it up. The learning curve on the Amico won't be as steep. Pat and Ian have really just shown that they have a complete lack of imagination if they see a demo for a game and assume that all the games will "just be mobile games". Sure, there aren't going to be any AAA games on the system, but THAT IS THE POINT OF IT. The aim is fun. I really don't understand how they can't see that. I will admit, initially I thought the same way but I changed my mind as I learnt more about it and as I've said previously, I'm more excited about Amico than PS5 abd Xbox whatever it is. I think they're just trying to get clicks, to be honest. I mean when was one of their videos that was POSITIVE successful. In fact, have they ever been positive about anything? It seems all they do is complain and/or complain about people complaining. Sad, really. EDIT: I just saw the trailer for Hellblade II. HOLY CRAP! Yes, I'll probably get an Xbox Series X too but the problem is its shape - where will I put it? lol. But yeah - it's quite obvious that the Xbox/PS5 and Amico are targetting totally different demographics. People who can't see that, well... not much point putting any worth on their opinion. And Amico is still by far at the top of the 2020 shopping list -

@Tommy Tallarico @nurmix I may or may not be... okay, I am... working on a multiplayer demo for a game I reckon would be perfect for Amico - just to prove I'm worthy, haha. What's the main resolution of the Amico? 1080p? Unity has changed a bit since my last release but I'm having a whole heap of fun with this -

Have to agree about Speedball. It's great on Mega Drive but the Amiga original is the best. Have you played it on C64? I need to try it. I love the original on C64 and Master System -

Yeah, they were made (or possibly just assembled) here in NZ by Fountain Electronics. They were very common. I knew more people with a Force 2 than an Atari, that's for sure. I now have the complete collection of Fountain branded games. There were a couple released here like Chess and the hobby module but I believe those were not branded Fountain. Yeah, Dad was a radio announcer way back when, before getting into behind the scenes TV stuff. -

Awesome! Speaking of ads - this is one for the first console I had, around 1981/2. Freaky thing is the voiceover sounds like my father. I’m trying to find out if it was him (hard to tell 100% due to effects and age etc) as this very ad could be the sole reason I’m a gamer. https://youtu.be/jvTpA3hafdA EDIT: It’s not him. Carry on... -

Tommy said no Atari games included with the console, so that counts out Breakout. I'm guessing there'll be the same logic behind any licensed game so probably not Moon Patrol either... intriguing! -

For me it depends on the game. I think Moon Patrol would be weird with modern 2D visuals. TBH I'm not a fan of 2D unless it has retro appeal, otherwise it looks like a cheap Flash game or something (Cuphead excluded but that has cartoon retro appeal). Of course it could be cool with big, chunky Neo Geo levels of 2D sprite work and lots of parallax but I reckon it looks pretty sweet in 2.5D. Myproblem with 2D these days is not enough people bother to do it properly. It's often all keyframed stuff and not hand drawn animation - there's a reason for that (time and money) but it also results in an unappealing result (to me, anyway). Same reason I can't stand modern cartoons. I'd take bad hand drawn animation over Flash etc any day, lol. -

Okay, Breakout looks amazing. Love the way the drum beats intensify with the brick breaking action. -

Hell yes. I love Pit Stop II on C64. It's one of the games on the C64 mini too 😍 -

Yeah I get what you mean about the controls. The original is nigh on arcade perfect. CE (I have the Japanese one) is twitchier but nothing compared to the Dreamcast version! Haha. I actually love the Xbox 360 version but yeah, nothing comes close to Sega Rally IMO. Unless of course it's realism you're after. I've been playing WRC 7 on PC. Loads of fun. Still love Colin McRae 1&2 also. I haven't seen all T4K has to offer (high score of around 2.2 million) but apart from an extra power up or two it's more of the same, including bonus stages. Soundtrack is even the same though it's definitely been remastered or at the very least is the version from the T2K CD soundtrack. It sounds great. There's a lot on screen which can make it tough but you soon get used to it. I love that Minterness. -

Nice, with ya on Sega Rally, Outrun 2 and Tempest 2K. Have those as well as Sonic 2 and Daytona (both versions) in my collection. Why do you prefer the original Daytona to the Champion Circuit edition? And have you played Tempest 4000? T2K was my fave shooter even after T4K was released but the more I’ve played it the better I’ve got and I think it ever so slightly edges out T2K now - definitely much smoother! -

Hehe a I’ve been enjoying it on the PSX mini but yeah, it gets bloody hard! Surprised my mum liked it, tbh. But simplicity wise, it’s a straightforward platform puzzler. Not too many buttons to learn and no extra crap like “crafting”. WHY IS THAT A THING IN EVERY ACTION GAME THESE DAYS? I want to shoot my guns, not build the bloody things! Lol. RPG elements should stay in RPG games, thanks. In fact, I had considered changing my company name to Jump, Shoot, Magic as I wanted to create games that utilised no more than three action buttons. But my mate pointed out that’s JSM. Say that as a word 😂😂😂 Anyway, another ‘game’ Mum loved was Music 2000. Now that IS complicated but she’s into making electronic music so was a piece of cake for her. Definitely simpler than what she uses these days, haha. But yeah, now I have to buy two Amicos. THANKS, TOMMY 🤪🤪🤪 -

We have very similar game tastes! Damn, I forgot to add an NFL game, though I did consider Madden '92. I have the lot of them on Mega Drive, haha. -
Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
MantaNZ replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
I was telling my 69 year old mother about Amico. She said "Yes! I miss playing those simpler games!" She used to have a PlayStation and "gave up when things started getting too complicated". She did love Oddworld though. Anyway, I described Intellivision Skiing and she really wants an Amico now. Might have to be her Christmas present next year!
