Got my cracked windshield replaced yesterday. I asked the guy and I could drive it after an hour or two, for the glue (or whatever he called it to dry). Nice, that it seals that quickly..
And then he said, make sure to leave the tape on the windshield for a day or two..
er....
If the glue is dry, why does it need the tape?
If the tape is needed, doesn't that imply the glue isn't really holding...

Wow! A belated Christmas present from my brother just showed up. Replica 1 Apple 1 clone kit... Wow...

Looks like one of our software vendors just added a feature the might replace a licensed (i.e. costs a lot of money) feature from another one of our vendors. Something they added just as "new features" so it won't cost us any more... Obviously have to test and such, but.. Nice...

Well that surprised me a bit. Put in a minimum bid on a nice looking "For Parts" Atari 400. Figured since the case looks pretty good, I wouldn't get it for just the minimum bid. But I did. Betting it's missing boards/chips inside. 🙂 At the least, it will look nice on my shelf. But I'll have to see if there's a possibility for repair...

Got tricked on e-bay. Partially my fault for not looking close enough. The description said "Maxell C30 Cassette Tapes Lot Of 6 Brand New Low Noise/High Output Cassettes"
But when they showed up, it was 3 C30s and 3 C60s.
Went back to check the auction and the picture does show the 3 C60s and 3 C30s, so I missed that.
Oh well, better than nothing, but not what I was looking for.
A good reminder to check the description AND the picture closely. -
I just printed a consumables report on my laser printer, and it told me that my toner was at 0%!
Apparently my printer and I disagree on the definition of 0... -

That is a nice bit of knowledge there, @Stephen , strangely comforting.
I grew up with the C64's and stuff, was only recently exposed to the Speccy via emulation, and have read a bit on it's history/creation and stuff, is a huge piece of history, for sure.
R.I.P.

My favorite product label. I was putting away the syrup and noticed the label for the first time.
Aunt Jemima Butter Rich Syrup
Contains No Butter.
Right on the front label, not hidden on the back or anything...

Homemade banana bread...
Simple and fast to make.
Even if you don't get it just right, it's still great...
I don't understand why this isn't a staple of living...
That is all.

hmmm, GoldLeader, my new call sign-RedLeader... conveniently we will form up at your location on Christmas... yes the originating co-ordinates to your sisters base will be kept secret as we wouldn't want any imperial entanglements, nor would we want to have the goods confiscated and put to use for Vaders purposes.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to use screwdrivers and wire cutters!!!
Someone gave my wife a damaged outdoor extension cord. The female receptacle, which wasn't the original, was cracked. I ordered a replacement and got it today. Opened the receptacle and .. OMG!! The Hot wire was basically loose. Not screwed in anymore and the case was basically holding it in place. And, it had been stripped to over an INCH of bare wire exposed!!! With little broken wires hanging loose!! How is that possible! <sigh> -
Got an Amazon delivery today. Box is on it's side with two arrows point up. So I am thinking he technically should have placed it sitting up!!!
Then I open it, and there is another box inside, with arrows pointing the other way.
So, the deliver guy was right after all, although I have no idea how he knew!!!! -
Wow... I had lent a Pi0w based RetroPi based system about two years ago... He returned it last week. I decided today to update it, since it has been awhile. Started it at 9:30... It's been over 3 and a half hours... Still updating... It's been a while since I updated Raspbian, so I don't remember how long it usually takes... Probably should have just done a new install...

Aaarrggghh Telcos!!!
Cutting over some 800 numbers from one Telco to another... Did a Test. Scheduled it. Worked great.
Asked them to schedule the next two numbers and then the next two after that...
Just got a reply that they successfully moved all our lines... During the day. With no coordination... Aarrrghh!
(Good news is that it is working, but )- Show previous comments 1 more

I'll let you know. Not off to a great start.
Although at least the trunks seem to be working. The trunks in question are hideously busy. We get a huge BURST of traffic when the lines open in the mornings, so tomorrow will be a big test. We have WAY more people needing to call than agents able to handle calls. We are migrating for PRIs to SIP...

One benefit of this whole last year or so is that I no longer feel the need to get / pay for haircuts! I've really improved around the "cutting my own hair" arena.
I mean, my hair cutting skill hasn't improved at all..
But my acceptance of my own bad haircuts has really improved quite a bit!!!!- Show previous comments 6 more

This is the best/worst news article title I've ever seen. From a story in the New York Times. Actual story name:
"When an Eel Climbs a Ramp to Eat Squid from a Clap, That's a Moray..."

I love it when my work gets into the news for an "IT Problem" .... as a result of a dumb business decision... Yay...

Does anyone still get retro stuff on Craigslist anymore? I used to, but it seems like for the last number of years, all I see are people posting "CASH FOR COMMODORE" type of things, or crazy prices... I don't "need" any more computer stuff, so it's probably a good thing, but still...

Just looked down and under my desk on top of a couple of mousepads is a book called "introduction to TRS-80 LEVEL II BASIC and computer programming" which is interesting...
1: I don't remember this book..
2: I don't and never have had a TRS-80...

Why is a video driver update 670Mb??? For a driver?

This is going to be a good day. Hey Youtube, are there any videos on the Atari 7800?
"Yes, here are some.. And here is a video about a little girl whose father died and she meets a jogger and her dog and tells them about her dad."
Damn you Youtube...-
YouTube algorithms...On one hand they wish to show you things you might like based on things you've liked in the past...On the other, I feel like it's some kind of technological manipulation. You ever let a friend on your computer? Suddenly I get a bunch of recommendations based on my supposed love of rock climbing...

I wonder sometimes... I was on an Oculus Quest forum and someone posted that his Elite strap (an attachment) had broken and he had returned it. The store called and said the replacement was in. He went to pick it up, and it was an Oculus Quest 2, not an Elite strap. He kept it. Everyone is congratulating him... I would have told the store about their mistake and not taken it. Hmmm...

Not gaming related, but why (and I know) do so many rechargeable products NOT have more easily replaceable batteries! Had to carefully open my electric razer and unsolder and solder in a new battery, and then our wine opener... Opened it, and yep, I need to solder in a new one. I can do that, but what a waste. Most people won't! Grrr....

Yesterday, I was e-mailed and completed a survey from my power company. Gave them a good review because our power has been really stable the last year. Today, I get an e-mail while I am at work that our power went out at 10:00am and will be out till 5:30pm. Seriously? The day after the survey???

I'm never going to admit that even tho I have been on this forum for years, I only just recently noticed that the little speech bubble thing to the left of a post means start at first unread comment.
