  1. Using classic controllers, for better or worse, is another reason I will always prefer to play my carts on original hardware. Even if the RVGS is without a doubt going to release these cart adapters, ok fine, perhaps it's just not for me - but that should be something to deal with down the line, AFTER the console is out there. Right now, they should be focusing on creating something new, with RVGS carts being the draw. Strike that, focus on showing us a working prototype!
  2. Well I thought that was the whole point? The idea of cart adapters really bugs me. I'm 99% ready to back the RVGS, but not if the team is trying to make it backwards compatible with every "legacy" console. I can already play those on cart! And what about something like AES, or even MVS, which have giant carts? How will an adaptor work with those? (And will it give my Kizuna Encounter insertion marks? jk!)
  3. Wait, what? You don't even want to use them but you're ready to collect them if they are limited edition? A) That's ridiculous and B) I thought the whole purpose of the RVGS was to make retro games more accessible? I'm actually less interested in cartridge adaptors because, as we all know, being the retro gamers we are, we can play our carts already! I don't need to play $150 or $300 for that privilege. The focus should be on NEW material.
  4. I used onlinelabels.com when creating these. I couldn't find any by Avery that were the right size. Check the first post in this thread for all the numbers and info.
  5. Great work collinp! That channel select is the perfect spot for a palette switch! From the pics darcagn posted, it would seem that some palettes are better for some games than others. Still hoping to hear more info on that because my preference would be to leave out the palette switch entirely if possible. However, I have no problem with it in the channel select spot, looks natural! Mind posting a pic of the rear of your system? I'm eager to know if installation, including audio, can be done with a single 8-pin mini DIN. If so, is it just a question of having better shielded cables?
  6. Keep them all! There's no rush and if you were born in 1989, you'll be alive a lot longer with plenty of time to play them all. Every game, no matter how great or shitty, holds some place in video game history and is worth playing.
  7. collinp (and others) - thanks for the info and keep us posted. Info has been slow to surface for the 2600RGB and I'm eager to see it in action!
  8. Another Spiker-less sadsack here checking in. Fingers crossed for you though stupus, I know you're really close to a complete set
  9. Really looking forward to sending you my 2600 Yurkie. You always do great work. Keep us posted and put up some pics of a finished console asap!!
  10. Kind of a lopsided poll. Might as well ask: which would you prefer? Free ice cream cone with sprinkles, or a kick in the shin?
  11. I was there both days and we had a wonderful time! And yes, Saturday was insane. Hopefully next year we'll have a little more elbow room. Thanks for coming out and sharing the Atari love with us.
  12. I have Darktim's NESRGB installed in my NES and it looks gorgeous. Personally, I'll wait to get his 2600 RGB board as well. S-video is nice (and much, MUCH better than RF) but RGB is worth holding out for. Yurkie, here - take more of my money!
  13. I'm pretty excited about the Retro VGS. However, price will be a major consideration. Also, I think he has already made a few missteps - specifically, using the Jaguar console and cart molds. Don't get me wrong, I like the Jaguar but there is room for improvement. But to "keep costs down" he won't be adding a dust cover for the cart slot or improving the cart handle (which does not take an end label well at all). Of course that would be ok, except he is doing a Kickstarter to raise money. Well, if you're going to ask for money before even having something ready, you should be willing to make it the best you can. Another concern of mine is that every potential developer is going to do a Kickstarter for every game. I'm happy as hell to see a return to cartridges, but I'd also like to see a return to the attitude of "we made this game and put it out there and hope that you'll buy it because it's good."
  14. Uh, yea OP - your post is hard to make sense of. fwiw, my vote goes to the PS3. There are a lot of great games for PS2 but I think modern gaming really came into maturity with PS3.
  15. Hi everyone. I'm looking for manuals to complete several of my US Sega Master System games. They are listed below along with a few other consoles. If you happen to have any, let me know and I'll pay a fair price for them + shipping. (Looking for US manuals only.) Thanks for any help! US Sega Master System manuals Alex Kidd in Shinobi World Fantasy Zone James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing My Hero Paperboy Rambo III (manual + replacement insert) Rocky Space Harrier 3D Super Tennis Zillion (manual + replacement insert) US 32XCD manuals Night Trap US PS1 manuals In The Hunt (longbox manual) US PS2 manuals Ratchet & Clank US PS3 manuals Monster Madness: Grave Danger US Neo Geo AES manuals Cyber-Lip Fatal Fury Samurai Shodown Spinmaster US Emerson Arcadia 2001 Red Clash (box & manual) Spiders (box & manual)
  16. Console only here also. Though I have lots of great memories of old PC games (Wolfenstein, Prince of Persia, SimCity, Day of the Tentacle, etc), I've always been a console gamer at heart. The only computer game I play nowadays is Civ V.
  17. Exactly! Which is why I simply just don't buy digital games at all. I know I've missed out on some good games because of my self-imposed boycott, but sorry - put it on a disc or physical format, and you'll have my money.
  18. Great video Jibbajaba - I always enjoy watching your videos. It's refreshing to see someone sane doing retro vg videos who doesn't seem to be doing it for money, attention or because they have an Axe to grind. I too love the hell out of Golden Axe. Bought it and Revenge of Shinobi with my Genesis at launch way back in 1989. My friend across the street and I played GA so much we could pretty much beat it without dying. I too was wondering if you were going to bring up The Duel, Beast Rider or GA Warrior. I own all 3 and though Warrior is pretty good, I haven't given it the time it deserves. The other 2 are pretty forgettable imo. Certainly, they don't seem to be "canon" as far as the original Golden Axe goes. Here's hoping one day Sega will bring back ole Gilius and crew for some 2.5D jump-slashing, gnome-headbutting, magic-casting fun.
  19. Yea shit.... so sorry to hear. Did they take your modern or classic or both? Do you have homeowners or renters insurance? Hopefully the police can find the bastards and get your stuff back!
  20. Bought 3 Genesis games from Iceman and everything went just perfect. Quick and easy transaction, thanks!
  21. I'm pretty excited about having a new cart-based system and I'll definitely be on board from day one. My main concern is this: even if the Retro VGS console does really well, with many units sold - I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of developers going the "Kickstart Our Cart" route. I know the cons of physically producing a cart have been discussed, so I won't rehash them here, I just worry that even in a best case scenario, we're not going to see a lot of games put out without being Kickstarted first. I guess it's a personal taste, but I'm not too keen on Kickstarting EVERYTHING which seems to be the way lots of artists (music, game, etc) are going. I hope we'll still see the "We made a game that we hope you think is awesome and will pay $XX to own and play" rather than begging for crowdfunding. That being said, I'll be Kickstarting the Retro VGS because I want to see this console succeed. Very exciting and can't wait for more details.
  22. Well thanks man, glad you like them! I might reprint mine if Kinko's has better quality labels available. I see that the rainbow stripe across your Kinkos labels doesn't quite go all the way across the top. That's something I could easily fix because I like the longer length. Also, did you (or Kinko's) have to cut the labels?
  23. And don't sell to Lukie Games. They seem to be sort of a Gamestop of the internet and won't likely give you much for them.
  24. Everyone keeps including the Lynx - is that really considered a "home console"? I would say not. In any case, here's my list: 1. 5200 - because well, it's awesome 2. 2600 - nostalgia galore and so many great titles (as well as lots of fun turds to hateplay) 3. Jaguar - some real gems on the Jag, but they are few and far between 4. 7800 - the best games were often ones rehashed from the pre-NES era
  25. S.Baz - those are likely factory sealed (aka new/unopened in box) as well as VGA graded, which means some total amateur pretending to be an expert assesses their condition and then seals them in cases so that no one may ever touch or play them. Personally, I think VGA grading is the stupidest thing ever and I think most people agree (unless you are preserving a true one-of-a-kind item). Scotty - I don't have an answer for you but my guess would be about 50-70 dollars. I think I paid around 25 for my boxed copy within the last year. Of course, you could always open it and play it. Demon Attack is a great game!
