  1.

Yeah I do as well. I don't buy games just because they're going to be rare anymore, but this one actually looks like it could be fun.

It is fun! I know what you mean and maybe my wording was poor... I didn't mean to buy it because the value may increase, only that if you want it, now is the time to buy because it most likely will be more expensive when you try to buy it later. I just checked Amazon and it's still selling for normal retail price ($30).

Edit: @travistouchdown - I think Fatal Frame and Fast Racing Neo that juansolo mentioned got physical releases in EU but not NA.

  2. I highly recommend Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. It's visually stunning with wonderful art design and color, and it's a damn fun JRPG. I haven't had a chance to get very far, but I really like it. I paid $40 for it new. It's funny that Hello Kitty Kruisers has gotten so expensive. I paid $10 for it at Gamestop, and got to embarrass my stepson while doing so lol. He still gives me crap for buying it, but I'll play just about any kart racer. He said we could "hateplay" it (a term I did not use around him which made me laugh - he must have picked it up on YouTube) which we did. And yes, it's pretty bad.

Other Wii U titles that seem to be creeping up in value:

    The Croods: Prehistoric Party

    Turbo: Super Stunt Squad

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

    Funky Barn

Cabela's Big Game Hunter: Pro Hunts

Also I expect Shantae: Half-Genie Hero to skyrocket later, so pick it up it now!

  3. Hi folks, I have an extra copy of Alice's Mom's Rescue for Sega Dreamcast that I'd like to trade. It is new and sealed, and an original Hucast release. It seems people on Etsy are selling "reproduction" and "custom" copies of this and other Dreamcast games, and this is NOT a repro. I'm offering it up to my friends here at AA first - if there's no interest, I may eventually take it to eBay. This homebrew is out of print and currently unavailable.

I'm open to all trades, common and/or uncommon titles, for just about any system. Let me know what you have for trade or feel free to check my wantlist in my signature.

Also, since the game is still sealed, any trade would be final. I hope you understand and thanks for looking.

EDIT: Trade is preferred, but I would also take $50 as gift/friend payment and ship for free in a Priority Box (US only).

  4. Wha?? Super Paper Mario was great! OK, let's say really good. Compared to Color Splash on Wii U, which was too frustrating for me to finish, it was a solid game.

Personally I have a hard time recommending Twilight Princess on Wii. Sure, it was great at launch, but in hindsight the GC version is better. Or, you could say the Wii U version is now the definitive version. In the Wii version, you have to waggle for every sword swing - and it got old fast considering you spend so much time chopping grass and enemies.

The Dragon's Lair Trilogy also has a mode that allows you to just watch the correct inputs being used, so you can basically sit back and enjoy the animations. I know that goes against the whole point of a video "game", but having spent countless hours and quarters on DL1 and 2, it was really a treat for me.

Totally forgot about RE Umbrella Chronicles, also a good one. All this Wii talk.... gonna have to spend Saturday playing a bunch of Wii... as soon as I take down Calamity Ganon in BotW!

  5. Nobody did Wii better than the Big N themselves. All the titles Austin listed were (and still are) great. Also thumbs up to Klonoa, Geometry Wars Galaxies, and the SNK and Data East collections. The Metal Slug and Dragon's Lair collections are must-haves also.

A few others I really enjoyed are:

Beatles: Rock Band - because Beatles

A Boy and his Blob - clever and colorful

Castle of Shikigami III - nice shmup

Dead Space Extraction - shooter that stands out in Wii library

ExciteBots: Trick Racing - we still play this one now and then

House of the Dead: Overkill - wonderfully offensive and tacky

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - of course!

    Lost in Shadow - platformer

Muramasa - great control and plenty of eyecandy

Super Paper Mario - not sure why some don't like this one??

Trauma Center: New Blood - interesting use of the Wiimote

Wario Land: Shake It! - another great platformer

And a few more that are fun to just pick up and play, but aren't winning any GotY awards:

    Bit.Trip Complete

Boom Blox - my old roommate really liked this one

    Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns

    Luxor 3

    Mercury Meltdown Revolution

    Science Papa

Target: Terror - so bad, it's good

    Worms: A Space Oddity

I'm sure there are many that I can't remember right now. The Wii library is so large, it'll take a lifetime to sift through it all. Sure, a lot of the games are not-great but even those shitty ones give me a chuckle.

  6. Man does this thread bring back some memories! I've got nothing but fond memories of Batman, one of the very few import games I've ever bought in my life. I bought the Mega Drive version from an importer because EGM (or whatever mags I was reading at the time) said unequivocally that Batman would NEVER be released in the US due to some licensing problem. The screenshots looked so nice and at that age, I wanted to be the only kid on the block with Batman so (stupidly) I just had to have the game. I was a high school freshman and the game cost me something like $100 - a ton of money for me even now! And of course, our only source of gaming info back in 89/90 was game magazines. I knew the game would play, but not fit, in a US Genesis.

The game arrived in it's cute, miniature lil' Japanese case - and yep, MD carts don't fit into a US Genesis. So what did I do? Filed both sides of the cart down so that I could juuuuust barely wedge it into the cart slot. And it worked! And my friends and I played the hell outta that game and beat it countless times. When you spend that much money on one game as a pimply 14 year old, you get your money's worth! There are frustrating parts, but it's not too bad.

Of course, later on Batman did get a US release on the Genesis and I felt like an idiot. The game, along with all my other games and console, I pawned off in college for next to nothing. Learned a tough lesson about "fake news" years before it became a thing!

  7. I have to admit when I was considering this subject (physical Wii U games), I was only considering the US/NA market. I just searched Gamefaqs and found this interesting, but not sure if it means anything. The description for Darksiders Warmastered Edition on Wii U is this:

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is an Action Adventure game, developed by Kaiko and published by Nordic Games Publishing, scheduled to be released in Australia in 2017.

  8. I wouldn't hold my breath for Darksiders Warmastered Edition on Wii U. Darksiders 1 and 2 are both incredible, so go ahead and pick up 2 which is already out on Wii U.

Purely speculation on my part, but it seems physical Wii U games are dead and gone. There were a few games that got physical releases right around the holidays (Shantae, Steamworld Collection, Runbow and Tumblestone), and I strongly suspect Breath of the Wild will be the last physical release either by Big N or any third party (N has said so for themselves). Maaaaybe something silly like Just Dance might come out - I don't really pay attention to those dancing/singing titles. So imo Zelda Breath of the Wild will be a perfect capstone to a pretty amazing game library of a console that will get MUCH MORE LOVE in death than it ever got during its life.

  9. Jeez, it's insane MK64 sells for $40 or so. It has to be one of the most common games on the N64. My brother-in-law and his family still have their N64 (and Gamecube and Wii) games under the tv gathering dust (decent games like MK64, Mario Party 3, etc) and every time I go over there, I always want to ask if he still wants it. They are literally smothered in dust. I don't think he knows he's sitting on a goldmine if people are willing to pay $40 for MK64!

  10. I remember the Nintendo 64 being impossible to find during holiday season 1996. My mom had her co-worker procure one for her through some new auction site on the internet called "eBay" for about $350 and had it shipped overnight all the way from Colorado to Texas, in order to arrive in time for Xmas. Aside from being insanely jealous that my little sister got the N64 instead of me, it was the best Xmas ever that year with Mario 64!

I was too young at the launch of Intellivison, Colecovision, etc to know about scarcity, but I bought a Genesis at launch in 1989 with no trouble. Of course there were certainly massive shortages for PS2 (probably the most insane launch in my memory with systems selling for $1000 on eBay) and Wii. Dreamcast and Gamecube I had preordered so I can't remember launch scarcity with those systems.

Nintendo has always been king of artificial scarcity, like with this NES Mini. I remember having a hard time finding Legend of Zelda, Zelda II and SMB2 upon release.

  11. Why do people complain about having to use the tablet with the WiiU? It's the standard controller that comes with the system! Everyone should be happy that Nintendo even has optional controllers for the system. I don't like it, but then again I didn't spend money on a WiiU either.

My complaint with using the Gamepad with Paper Mario: Color Splash is: having to look down from the TV to the Gamepad, and then back, is disruptive to the flow of gameplay. Maybe it's not as big an issue to younger eyes, but it's a minor problem for me.

Imagine you are playing a game, doing whatever, then you are forced to look down into your lap (focusing on the small screen), perform some silly tasks (in this case, selecting and using battle cards), then look back up to the tv (refocusing your eyes and getting ready to properly time your attacks). Now imagine having to do that EVERY TIME you enter battle. (EDIT: Sorry, not just every battle, but every ATTACK turn in every battle!) It gets old. Mainly because there was nothing wrong with the Paper Mario games the way they were. Nintendo shoehorned the Gamepad into Color Splash and it's not a bad game, but hard to keep playing for extended periods.

Another problem I have with selecting the Battle Cards is that you can hold up to 99 of them. After you stock up and have dozens, you have to flip through ALL OF THEM to find one you want to use. I haven't found an easier way to manage these. Am I missing something or is it really just this big of a PITA?

  12. I have to agree with leods above. Great console, and the fact that is hasn't sold like PS4 or XB1 is going to make it even more collectable 10+ years from now. I've said before in other threads that years from now, I believe the Wii U will be highly regarded and many people who never bought or owned one while it was current will speak of it as if it were always their favorite console (Dreamcast Syndrome).

My main concern is the Gamepad, and what one is to do when it breaks 10 or 15 years from now. I'm not a tinkerer or electronics wizard, so if mine breaks my Wii U will be basically useless. As more and more people find themselves in the same boat, the value is going to shoot up.

  13. Yea, beautiful eyecandy Tempest!

    Wow amazing collection!

I found this site, must be new, not sure how accurate or legit it is.

    http://gamevaluenow.com/atari-5200

I have no affiliation with the site, but I do use it all the time and the site owner/admin is a very nice guy. He started a thread here about his 2600 list:

    http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258894-looking-for-some-feedback-on-my-recently-updated-2600-game-list/

  14. These are only $15 at Gamestop during their Black Friday sale.

Yep, and I ordered both yesterday from the Gamestop website along with a few other games I'd been wanting to get. I think $30 for both is a fair deal. Earlier in this thread, I kinda crapped on the price but I do love these (Atari) games and I want to support the publisher. Plus, how cool will it be to get some trophies for playing these?? So... who has the Trophy/Achievement guide??

  15. Well, after playing Paper Mario: Color Splash for almost 2 weeks, I have to agree that the control scheme is piss poor. Having to use the Gamepad to select your battle cards, THEN paint your cards, THEN flick up to use them is about 343% more* of a PITA than it had to be. C'mon Nintendo, who wouldn't get sick of this after a few battles?? I'm not sure I have the intestinal fortitude to stick it out til the end of the game. Other than that, I really like the game (though I'll always prefer N64 Paper Mario the best). Forcing the Gamepad silliness on this Wii U version is a giant step backwards, I'm sad to say.
