  1. Besides the fact that your posts have been incredibly rude, giving us all the ole "then fuck you," they are also wildly off-topic. Take it somewhere else. Again, straightforward question - does the RVGS team have a working prototype?
  2. More talk of pretty colors. I think those of us who want to support you need to know, do you have a working prototype?
  3. Don't trust "the cloud"! Every time I hear the term, it makes me think of that Stephen King story "The Mist" where a nebulous fog engulfs a town and bad things happen to the local folk. Anyways, I agree with stardust and cyberclon - ROMs are usually illegal but I know, commonplace. So many people are quick to "get an everdrive" but I appreciate that there are some of us that still want to simply buy and own our own games. Or books. Or movies. Or records. Or 8-track tapes. Or whatever you enjoy. Us cart lovers can hopefully still have our carts if we speak with our money, like vinyl lovers have done over all these years. Let's just hope Mike and co. can really give us something nice, because no matter what, they've certainly touched a nerve. Even though you can take your PS4 and TV out into the forest, what about the next gen of consoles that may have no physical media whatsoever? Sounds like no fun to me, and that will be when I probably quit playing new games. If the RVGS takes off well enough, hopefully when that time comes those of us who want a physical game will have an outlet.
  4. OK, that's reassuring! But darn, Warlords is probably my favorite 2600 game! I'd say it's definitely my favorite multiplayer game of all time! (Edit: collinp, I saw you confirmed Warlords does work via S-video, just not RGB. In a post above, jarreboum suspected the Mini would have problems with any source.) Good to know: have a backup output available like S-video or composite for the few games that won't work properly via 2600RGB. That might mean a Nintendo multi-out would be the best choice for installation. I wonder if that would look weird on the back of an Atari @stardust - that does indeed sound like a problem as well, thanks for letting us know. That seems like a big oversight. I'm inclined to just leave off the 2nd joystick button altogether.
  5. That's what concerns me as I prefer to play from my original carts and am not really interested in a Harmony cart. I wonder if Tim tested the 2600RGB with the Framemeister. After all, it's pretty common with us retro gamers. And even if he did, surely he couldn't have tested every game so I wonder how many other carts won't work with the XRGB Mini.
  6. Hmm, thanks I'll read your blog on my break here in a bit. I'm concerned about the Framemeister not being able to keep a signal, as that's what I use and don't own a CRT...
  7. Bumping for interest. I'm very curious how the 2600RGB is working for those who have installed it. Am I understanding correctly that certain games aren't working perfectly via RGB (specifically the kings in Warlords are misplaced) and that S-video would be a better option in those cases? Also, Yurkie when are you rolling our your 2600RGB mod service??
  8. Emehr - I believe the RVGS will have it's own identity, but can also take on the "identity" of a classic console if the devs wants (ie, Atari 2600 game plus the 2600 HDL on the RVGS cart). Tunamelt (and others) - We don't know a price yet! We have an idea, but nothing confirmed. Even if it is in the $300 - 400 range (which is a hard pill to swallow), I'm reading about others who have paid $500 for the Analogue NT, with no regrets, which is laughable to me. Even more for consolized MVSes. I think our skepticism is healthy. Until we have some hard facts, I for one still remain optimistic.
  9. In an interview I listened to this weekend (I believe it was linked earlier in this thread), Mike says that for the KS, he wants to have a working prototype so that everyone can see it powered on. Will that still happen? Do you have something tangible to demonstrate proof of concept? If not, I hope the team will consider pushing back the KS until ready. I'm willing to support the RVGS but don't have the luxury of throwing away hundreds of dollars on a leap of faith.
  10. A video game console that plays carts - of course I'm interested! However, I won't vote because none of us know enough about it yet to determine it's awesomeness. Will I be buying one? Most likely. For someone like me who refuses to buy games digitally*, this console is perfect. I know I am missing some great games by boycotting downloadable games, and the RVGS could be the perfect outlet for devs to put their game on a physical cart so "geezers" like me can play them whenever the hell we want (now or 30 years from now). *I did buy Pac-Man Championship Edition DX because shit, I couldn't help it. It's awesome!
  11. I never got that impression. I think publishing your games as RVGS carts is always an option, but just wanted to let developers who want to produce their own carts that they will be supported with the adapter.
  12. Using classic controllers, for better or worse, is another reason I will always prefer to play my carts on original hardware. Even if the RVGS is without a doubt going to release these cart adapters, ok fine, perhaps it's just not for me - but that should be something to deal with down the line, AFTER the console is out there. Right now, they should be focusing on creating something new, with RVGS carts being the draw. Strike that, focus on showing us a working prototype!
  13. Well I thought that was the whole point? The idea of cart adapters really bugs me. I'm 99% ready to back the RVGS, but not if the team is trying to make it backwards compatible with every "legacy" console. I can already play those on cart! And what about something like AES, or even MVS, which have giant carts? How will an adaptor work with those? (And will it give my Kizuna Encounter insertion marks? jk!)
  14. Wait, what? You don't even want to use them but you're ready to collect them if they are limited edition? A) That's ridiculous and B) I thought the whole purpose of the RVGS was to make retro games more accessible? I'm actually less interested in cartridge adaptors because, as we all know, being the retro gamers we are, we can play our carts already! I don't need to play $150 or $300 for that privilege. The focus should be on NEW material.
  15. I used onlinelabels.com when creating these. I couldn't find any by Avery that were the right size. Check the first post in this thread for all the numbers and info.
  16. Great work collinp! That channel select is the perfect spot for a palette switch! From the pics darcagn posted, it would seem that some palettes are better for some games than others. Still hoping to hear more info on that because my preference would be to leave out the palette switch entirely if possible. However, I have no problem with it in the channel select spot, looks natural! Mind posting a pic of the rear of your system? I'm eager to know if installation, including audio, can be done with a single 8-pin mini DIN. If so, is it just a question of having better shielded cables?
  17. Keep them all! There's no rush and if you were born in 1989, you'll be alive a lot longer with plenty of time to play them all. Every game, no matter how great or shitty, holds some place in video game history and is worth playing.
  18. collinp (and others) - thanks for the info and keep us posted. Info has been slow to surface for the 2600RGB and I'm eager to see it in action!
  19. Another Spiker-less sadsack here checking in. Fingers crossed for you though stupus, I know you're really close to a complete set
  20. Really looking forward to sending you my 2600 Yurkie. You always do great work. Keep us posted and put up some pics of a finished console asap!!
  21. Kind of a lopsided poll. Might as well ask: which would you prefer? Free ice cream cone with sprinkles, or a kick in the shin?
  22. I was there both days and we had a wonderful time! And yes, Saturday was insane. Hopefully next year we'll have a little more elbow room. Thanks for coming out and sharing the Atari love with us.
  23. I have Darktim's NESRGB installed in my NES and it looks gorgeous. Personally, I'll wait to get his 2600 RGB board as well. S-video is nice (and much, MUCH better than RF) but RGB is worth holding out for. Yurkie, here - take more of my money!
  24. I'm pretty excited about the Retro VGS. However, price will be a major consideration. Also, I think he has already made a few missteps - specifically, using the Jaguar console and cart molds. Don't get me wrong, I like the Jaguar but there is room for improvement. But to "keep costs down" he won't be adding a dust cover for the cart slot or improving the cart handle (which does not take an end label well at all). Of course that would be ok, except he is doing a Kickstarter to raise money. Well, if you're going to ask for money before even having something ready, you should be willing to make it the best you can. Another concern of mine is that every potential developer is going to do a Kickstarter for every game. I'm happy as hell to see a return to cartridges, but I'd also like to see a return to the attitude of "we made this game and put it out there and hope that you'll buy it because it's good."
  25. Uh, yea OP - your post is hard to make sense of. fwiw, my vote goes to the PS3. There are a lot of great games for PS2 but I think modern gaming really came into maturity with PS3.
