  1. I don't want to spoil anyone's bid...but I didn't notice any AA users amongst the bidders on this item, and it's too good to pass up for the new collector: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3000558080&rd=1
  2. Thanks for the info. I just purchased three common boxed (and sealed) carts for $6...but just because "Galaga" was included in the lot. By the way, does anyone have extra copies of "Scrapyard Dog" and "Joust" that they'd like to sell me?
  3. I think the seller was referring to this: http://www.aracnet.com/~atari/st_hard.htm although he did insist that the product had never been released and that he was "one of the few people" ever to have owned such a "unique" item. Guess he never browsed the Bravo Sierra website... ...and the "rare" drive he was referring to is most likely a SF314.
  4. and add this, found in the local "buy & sell": Going once, going twice...
  5. I've just purchased a 7800 system. Can anyone tell me the average price that I should be paying for 7800 carts?
  6. A local ST enthusiast is trying to get me to purchase his blitz cable and "rare" DSDD external drive for the ST. Any comments on the value of this item?
  7. Bad news! Frank has bronchitis, and couldn't make it to his trial today. My application to adjourn was accepted, and Frank's trial will now be heard on March 31st! To compensate for the delay, I'm adding these additional prizes: 1. an original, boxless copy of "Castle Wolfenstein" for the 8-bits; and 2. an original, boxless copy of "Beyond Castle Wolfenstein" for the 8-bits.
  8. The latest: I paid the extra $20 US to have that box shipped from Alaska (apparently, the seller's brother's residence), & the brother responded as follows: The seller had advised me to send the extra money by PayPal. Do I get a prize for "worst eBay transaction...ever"?
  9. I can certainly attest to that. I won an auction for a $20 belt, and the seller marked the value as being over 200 U.S. dollars. I had to pay over $60 CDN in customs fees! Oh, well. That certainly hasn't stopped me from using ePay!
  10. I still can't win the mini-Breakout game!!! I've got up to level 8, but that's it.
  11. What do you think about the following scenario? I won an auction for a ST computer package: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...2079896195&rd=1 Not bad for around $43 USD, right? The system was shipped in three boxes. The first two arrived, and I found that: 1. The 520ST was DOA (power supply) 2. The advertised monitor was monochrome, and not colour; but: I got two hard drives instead of the one advertised. Shipping was around $73USD to Canada. Yes, that's right! When I didn't receive the third box, I e-mailed the seller and was told that to get the third box, I'd have to pay an extra $20 USD as the box is in...Alaska (seller is in Seattle). What's your opinion on sellers who hold items "ransom" until extra shipping $$ are received from buyers? I would complain, but the Seller really sounds quite nice...notwithstanding the fact that this transaction has definitely gone sour for me...
  12. O.K...so that was a really bad idea... Perhaps we should write to UbiSoft and tell them to start working on "Rayman 2"! Just kidding.
  13. I've noticed that ICD's products -- "Aircars" and the "Catbox" have been "hot" topics of discussion for some time, and I assume that they are still among the most highly-sought of Jaguar products. I'd certainly like to see more copies of each produced, but that isn't likely to happen as the result of one person's request. I contacted ICD several months ago regarding the current -- and future -- availability of its Jag products, and was told by one salesperson "that [he] didn't know if more would ever be made". This answer is certainly better than a flat "no", and makes me think that just maybe, if enough people wrote / e-mailed / otherwise bugged ICD, they might reconsider their position on the Jag. "Catboxes" are regularly going for upwards of $200, and "Aircars" -- when sold -- is extremely pricey. I would, however, pay $200 for a nice bundle package of both (more, I might add, than they originally listed it for) -- and I think that others would, too. My question: is anyone interested in a write-in campaign to ICD? These things do have some success: I remember participating in a write-in campaign to have "The Newsroom" put out for the 8-bits in '88. "The Newsroom" was released for the 8-bits, and I didbuy myself a copy of the program. I think that this approach might work here. I've already sent in my letter. Any other takers?
  14. I'd pay upwards of $40 for a good "Joust" (arcade) clone on the Jag. Hell, I'd even pay upwards of $40 for a conversion of the 8-BIT version on the Jaguar.
  15. Does anybody happen to know where the Tramiels are at this point in time? I'd love to get in touch with them to ask them about the final days of Atari -- in a civil manner, of course!
  16. When I use my CD unit, two vertical columns of "interference lines" pop up on the left side of my screen. Does anyone have a fix for this, or... is it just a problem with my television set and unfixable?
  17. Does anyone know of a "Rampart" clone for the 8-bits? Thanks!
  18. My primary beef about "Food Fight" is that it does not get progressively harder (after a certain point) and offers NO variety. I can remember playing the stupid cart for hours after I first got it in '88, thinking "what IS the point of this game? Perhaps if I play another level, I'll get to a better level..." And then I'd sit in front of the screen, in a hypnotic state...dazed...
  19. Oh, geez...and I thought that my serial number actually meant something! Well, at least it works now.
  20. Why is Protector: SE listed as a "homebrew" in the rarity guide? Songbird certainly is a professional enterprise.
  21. Does anyone have an approximate idea how many CD units were produced? I believe that mine is in the 4900 range...
  22. From the October 2002 "Men's Health": "Video games aren't usually associated with fitness. But you could probably learn something about building muscle from the old Atari 2600 in your basement. Like most video-game systems, it lets you start with easier versions of a game when you're a beginner and adds tougher levels of play later on. The reason: you need to keep challenging yourself in order to improve." Apologies to those who've already commented on this...I couldn't find an earlier thread!
  23. Is #1 really correct? I remember reading a book ("The Misfortune 500") years ago which explained the presence of Reese's Pieces in "E.T.". The producers of "E.T". apparently approached M&M / Mars while the movie was being shot, and offered to have M & Ms in the movie...for a fee. M & M / Mars declined, and Hershey's agreed instead to have pay an endorsement fee to have its product placed prominently in the movie... ...that is, according to the book.
  24. I plugged the mouse in "serial port #2" at the back...did I stick something up the wrong port?
  25. I don't think that the 8-bits hande any genre poorly...although I think that there's definitely a dearth of good arcade / puzzlers for the machines (e.g. "Chip's Challenge", "Rampart")
