  1. Raiden is too hard and lacks the amazing in-game music of other versions. Raiden's got better components, but Zarlor Mercenary is the better game.
  2. The full story on Metal Mutant or Vindicators? I may buy the book if there's more info on the disappearance of Metal Mutant.
  3. I never could get very far in the game, but it did provide me with the incentive to upgrade to a CD drive in my aging AT clone, and changed my way of thinking of a game could be. In other words, game: C. Impact and legacy: A+
  4. Amazing collection! Is there any way that you could dump the Infocom for the Portfolio disk? I've only been able to source Zork.
  5. Is it available on the Dreamcast? Seriously, though, the only PC that I have is a Acer Chromebook 11. I doubt it has the specs to play it, or else I'd be all over it.
  6. You can always contact them to put in a request for just such a cart. I've got to say that they've been very responsive to my own questions.
  7. Who's selling this for $65? PM me if you'll ship to Canada!
  8. Wierzę, że to wielcy amerykańscy filozofowie En Vogue powiedzieli: „Otwórz swój umysł, a reszta przyjdzie sama”. Seriously, though, the parameters of the question were not limited to English-language text adventures on cart. Although Nir Dary made me a fantastic multicart with Level 9's text adventures on it, including The Secret Life of Adrian Mole!
  9. If it's unclear, I will spell it out for you: I wanted to end our side-discussion because you are being dismissive and, quite frankly, rude.
  10. Well, I'll certainly agree that this side conversation has completely moved away from the original topic. Back to the Panther!
  11. Why on earth not? That's just the reality of today's gaming market and manner in which most people (not just enthusiasts) play game these days. And sure, throw in the Wii too! But that just undermines the argument that the market's only big enough to three platforms at once.
  12. Perhaps true for the ST line, but I'm going to disagree with the rest of Atari's new products. The Lynx was far and away the best handheld when it was released, and not unreasonably expensive (although too expensive for their market, as it turns out); the Portfolio (more third-party tech) was genius for its time; the Jaguar was competitive for its era and not overpriced (no matter what your thoughts might be about its actual capabilities). I think that this pattern demonsrates shortsighted business practices and a limited business model more than it shows the actual retail limitations of the market. Besides, today's market is actually: 1. Android 2. iOS 3. PS4>>>Switch>>>X1 (and throw in the 3DS line somewhere in there as well).
  13. Okay, here's a fair question: if Atari had released the Panther in 1991, would anyone here have actually bothered to buy one? After I bought my Lynx in 1990, I didn't buy another Atari product until well after the Corp. went under. Let's say that cash was a problem for Atari, and they could only develop and release one product. Given the fludity of computing and gaming at the time, would you choose: a) Panther b) Falcon c) ST MicroBox ?
  14. Well, to be fair, Amiga didn't exactly "take over" anything. Both the ST and Amiga lines ultimately failed for many of the same reasons and at basically the same time, at least in North America. And since both companies were North American and couldn't (or didn't want to) privot to hack out a niche place in Europe, that was that.
  15. To be fair, though, none of those machines were designed by Atari. They just picked up the tech after the hardware had been developed by other companies. And were the machines that Atari (in any form) did develop really "harder" to program than rival platforms?
  16. Geez, have everyone already forgotten this year's release, 07 Zgłoś Się? It's a beautifully packaged text adventure (with graphics!) on cart. With Feelies. In Polish! And I'd bet that Retronics still has a copy or two left to sell...
  17. I made the `pilgrimmage` to 90 Gough Drive, Markham, Ontario, many times in the `80s to have my 1050 fixed. It was a hideous multiunit lowrise in an industrial park north of Toronto. Let`s see some pictures of Atari Canada!
  18. Livewire is great, but you can play T2K — er, T0.5K on the A8 by picking up Tempest Elite from Video 61. It’s awesome.
  19. I think that the Jag is perfectly fine as a console on its own merits, and it's the only one that I have and play from its generation. There are about ten great games on the system, and just buy those (and that list includes neither Cybermorph nor Kasumi Ninja), and forget the rest. No one has time to play the entire library these days, and, while it's fun to bitch and whine about the dogs of the Jag's library, it's simply easier just to play the good games.
  20. And there's nothing stopping anyone from buying a second (or third) copy. This I've learned from life (and from working in a job that attracts constant criticism from the public): you thank people for their comments, make your own decisions, and move on.
  21. How about getting some (one?) of the Dev team to sign 10 copies (to be distributed randomly) in the last lot to get them to move more quickly?
  22. Don't get me wrong -- those carts do offer a great deal.
  23. Yes, that $50 price (I bought my first one for $39.99, if I recall) seems to have been the tipping point from `whatever` to `hmm...`for many of us. But I certainly didn`t buy one in 1994 after seeing them in action for the first (and only) time in a store. At last, Atari found its perfect price-point for the system.
