    So my cable is part of the rent -- my name is not on it anywhere. I want to get a DVR device to record TV while I'm at work. Can I just buy one off Amazon and use it on my system?

      I could look into a TV tuner card (I have Windows 7) but I have to get another HD as my PC one is maxed out.
