  5. I haven't had much time to get into this again but I'm going to give it another try this weekend - I'll be happy to break the 100k barrier!
  6. Is this not APS (Argus Press Software), the same company that produced the Atari Computing magazine-on tape?
  7. Heh, it's been a few years(!) since I've been in the HSC, so I thought I'd better have a go! Love these two games, here's my puny efforts so far... Spelunker...87,510 Caverns Of Khafka...1,119,241
  8. Well, it doesn't work in PAL Altirra so that answers that - but the machine I'm trying to get it to work on is my 1200XL NTSC so that should work but it doesn't?
  9. Hi all, I'm currently loading up my SIDE2 cart with some games but having trouble with a couple, can anyone help please? Meltdown by Cosmi - Does anyone have an XL-fixed version of this please? Also, I have an ATR of the Microprose 3 game disk featuring Hellcat Ace, Floyd Of The Jungle and Chopper Rescue (attached) All three games load and Chopper Rescue works fully, but the other two games require keyboard input which doesn't work when loaded via SIDE2 cart i.e. it won't register keyboard inputs - works fine in Altirra but not on real hardware. Is this a copy protection thing or something else? If anyone can help, thanks in advance! Dom Hellcat Ace-Floyd of the Jungle-Chopper Rescue.ATR
  10. Spot on - I meant I had the sample program that was Van Halen's cover of The Kinks 'You Really Got Me' - by the way does anyone know of or have the original hardware/software that was used to make these? I remember there was an intro page with the details but it's been a looooong time since I booted these! EDIT - just seen the above post!
  11. I remember the Van Halen one, but not Roy Orbison? I have the Madonna 'Material Girl' on disk somewhere and also the 'Juicy Lucy' sample! Heh, used to think they were amazing BITD.
  12. I've been using these power supplies on my 800 with Incognito running various devices including SIO2SD with no problems whatsoever. Also in use on my 1200XL and 1050 units!
  13. I'm still waiting to hear back from him - I recently bought a 32-in-1 Warp+ OS that had a faulty PLCC flash ROM - Thankfully sorted now thanks to our genius in residence Jon (FJC) but I would have liked to heard back from Steve when I emailed him about the problem...It's a great shame because I have had fantastic service from him in the past, up until now his products and after sales service have been excellent so I hope whatever the problem is on his end gets resolved soon.
  14. Three more for the records! - 72R DA 03198 163 - sticker on motherboard says '21 Apr 1983' so I guess that narrows it down! Now living in the UK with an Atarimax 32-in-1 fitted and the 'usual' mods (Clearpic, +5v SIO and keyboard fix) 83S DA 013175 133 - Now in the UK, again having the usual mods and an U1MB. 83S DA 017156 133 - On it's way to the UK, currently stock.
  15. Great work! Usually I click on something like this on and barely last a minute but this had me hooked to the end, love it!
  16. Family is the MOST important thing. Hope all goes well Paul.
  17. Hi all, No doubt many of you are aware of the massive contribution Jon (flashjazzcat) has made to this forum and the Atari 8-bit community with his projects, software, advice, (most of which is far too technical for me!) etc but less documented is his 'engineering' side! I'm a gamer, pure and simple. SIO2SD is a great device for me, choose your game of choice and boot it up. A few years ago there was quite a few posts on the 'best' way to encase the SIO2SD boards which had then become readily available. One of the most popular methods was to use the XM301 modem case, others used XC12 cassette players, 1064 cases, etc etc. Back in 2012 I had a US 110v 'beauty queen' XL style PSU that was gathering dust and posting that off to Jon resulted in this.. A great looking unit which maintained the style of the stock 800XL, now made immensely more practical for me! (It's still here, a mainstay of my rather modest set-up!) Anyway, fast forward to 2017 - I've recently returned to the Atari scene after concentrating on other projects and wanted to combine the 800XL and SIO2SD into one 'ultimate gamer' package. I spoke to Jon and he agreed to take on the Herculean task of making my fantasy machine! I ordered the Ultimate 1MB upgrade and SIO2SD board from Lotharek and sent the bits to Jon, along with the donor 800XL. In return, he sent me regular updates and photographs. I've just taken delivery of the finished machine and it's blown me away. It is absolutely awesome! I've got the U1mb so can run the big games and it has an 800 OS-B on board to run the older stuff (it also has a ton of features that I will probably never use or understand but others will!) Best of all I think is the custom installation of the SIO2SD. I've seen similar builds on other machines so thought I knew what I would be getting but this is top class. The workmanship is outstanding. The whole thing just oozes quality. The screen install, the positioning and 'feel' of the buttons, everything is superb. Here she is... I'm absolutely over the moon with it (as you can probably tell!). A lot of engineering work went into this project and it's all down to Jon that it has turned out so well. A lot of time and thought has gone into this and I cannot thank him enough. And no, I'm not on commission either - I just wanted to highlight his hardware skills as well as his programming skills! Thanks again Jon :-)
  18. Heh...just to muddy the waters even more - I recently bought this drive along with the 800XL from the OP (We're actually members of a CB/amateur radio forum who by coincidence happened to mention Atari..) I made him an offer for 1050 drive, I later bid on the 800XL and won it on ebay. The 800XL has stock OS, Ultimon and a Speeder OS. The 1050 has two switches - the left switch is for normal/enhanced, and the right switch chooses between Happy and US Doubler when enhanced is chosen. No write protect though...Both are a 'bit' yellow so it's time for the peroxide! The 1050 is nice though having the switch, saves having to boot the master Happy disc to switch it into 'unhappy' mode for certain software e.g. Electronic Arts games, etc.
  19. Hi, Put me down for one assembled piece please!
  20. Hi Candle, Please put me down for one Incognito, thanks! Dom
  21. Many thanks for posting this - I have the originals but I've been after a 'file' version for years, looked high and low but never found one (until now!)
  22. Hi guys, Having a clear out and selling one of my machines - she's a PAL Atari 600XL, stripped and rebuilt by Jon (Flashjazzcat) with a couple of mods - built-in 64K and S-Video upgrade. Also has the 'Cherry' keyboard which is an absolute delight to use. Also comes with professionally made dust cover. Currently on ebay for £65 GBP plus shipping but will sell to AA members for £55 plus shipping. Will ship anywhere if you pay for it :-) Cheers, Dom
  23. If anybody is after one of these superb carts, PM me becuase I'm selling mine - only reason I'm selling is because my main machines now are my 1200XL and my 800 Incognito, and the cart is slightly too large to fit these machines without a bit of 'shaving', fit XL/Xe machines perfectly, of course! Same price as I paid, £40.00 GBP which includes tracked shipping to anywhere in the world. And yes, it's already full of Atari goodness!
