what A800 game were you most impressed with on release?
beamer320i replied to gooner73's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
October 1982 - playing Astro Chase on my uncles 800 (over £700 from Maplins) and being amazed at the smooth scrolling, great graphics and music! Hey, even the game itself was (and still is) pretty cool - some people thought it was just a graphics showcase but I like it and still give it a blast every now and then. -
Hi Jon, Put me down for a SCART cable please! Cheers, Dom

Without wishing to sound impatient (!), is there a date for shipping on this?
-
Hi Chris, Payment sent - did you get my post that my order has changed to NTSC please? Cheers Dom
-
Hi Candle, Has my unit been sent to Jon's yet please? Cheers Dom
-
Hi Sloopy, Please can you change my order to NTSC (not PAL), decided it's going in my 1200XL! Cheers Dom
-
Great news! Put me down for one PAL, please!

Hi all, Hell yeah, I'd love to be there! Be great to meet fellow Atarians and show off some Atari stuff - nothing mega-rare here, but would be nice opportunity to give the 1200XL (32-in1 OS) an airing, as well as the 'Super-XL' which is nearing completion - c'mon people, let's do this! Cheers Dom

Atari 1050 Disk Drive not working - Some help needed
beamer320i replied to freemonk's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi freemonk, This happened to me with a load of disks I bought when I got back into the Atari scene 10 years ago - over 30 disks marked 'Alpha-load' with 100's of games but non would load! Turns out that Alpha-Load was/is a menu system which works with the U.S. Doubler upgrade - it allows true double density hence the bigger storage space. A standard 1050 won't read these disks, you need either a U.S. Doubler upgrade or a 'Happy' upgrade. I bought a 'Happy' upgrade from Steve over at http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/documentation/ (scroll down to the bottom) They are reasonably priced and easy to fit (no solddering required!) Plus you get all the extra features of the 'Happy' upgrade. Then you get to enjoy all those disks! Cheers Dom -
Hi Rob, Long time no hear! Yes, the disk version is 32K and uses artifacting for enhanced, more detailed graphics. The 8K ROM/16K cassette versions have the 'chunkier' graphics. Gameplay is identical in both versions, though- great game, one of my all-time favourites! Cheers Dom

Remaining OS-B games still not fixed to be XL friendly?
beamer320i replied to ACML's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I've been collecting for a few years now, trying to buy the games I couldn't afford back in '83! The 'baggie' games seem to be the rarest due to their packaging, I also have Crypts of Terror by Inhome Software in disk and tape 'baggie' format, another favourite of mine! Other baggies I have are Bug Attack by Cavalier and Ghostly Manor by subLOGIC. Have been searching high and low for other 'baggies', such as Protector, early Shamus release, cassette version of Night Mission Pinball, etc. If anybody has them for sale, PM me! -

I have a special spot for Ghost Hunter in my heart as well for the same exact reason. I bought Ghost Hunter on tape when it first came out for my 400 and LOVED it to death. Came in a plastic baggie. I don't think that PacMan by Atari had been released yet. Just awesome to see another who bought it new back in the day. Wow, Ghost Hunter! One of my favourite games, was also one of my first back in Summer '83 when I got my 16k 400. And guess what I found in a job lot of disks recently, still in it's original baggie! (and it works, woo hoo!) -
Game itself is free - no need to ask me Hi Sheddy, Have just programmed Tim's cart so looks like he will be playing it on a real machine at last! Thanks again for your effort and achievement on this project. Cheers Dom
-
I have a spare 8 mbit Atarimax cart that I could program Space Harrier for you (with Sheddy's permission!) Just cover the cost of the cart and postage and Bob's your Uncle! Drop me a PM and we'll sort it. Cheers Dom
-
Payment just sent Deluxe Edition with mini usb, thanks again! Dom

HSC8 *Team* Round 16 Multi Game Bonanza
beamer320i replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Hi all, As some of you on here are aware, I'm currently awaiting an operation on my spine so unfortunately I won't be able to take part in this team competition round (just my luck, I might have stood a chance with Deteacher on my side! ) Shame as well as there are some great games (and some of my faves) in the mix. If I do get chance to throw in a couple of scores for Deteachers team, will they be acceptable? I'll be back in the HSC rounds later on to try and make up for it though! Looks like I will be off work for quite a while afterwards so plenty of time to practice! Cheers for now, Dom
